Yu Gong Yi Shan
Yugongyishan was a but a tiny live house located in a parking lot across Worker's stadium. The venue scooped up That's Beijing's 'Best Live House' for 3 consecutive years from 2005. It's been a steady platform for local and international bands, but also a place where labels have been hosting parties in an area predominated by mega clubs and bars.
In July 2007, the Beijing Olympic bulldozers rolled over the place and took down a firm favorite hangout in the city. Loyal patrons might still remember the demolition party where everybody was dancing on the ruins until the wee hours of the morning.
In September 2007, Yugongyishan rose from the ashes and celebrated its re-opening in larger space right in the center of Dongcheng district.
Now located in the former Ruifu Lounge (Pingan Avenue), the legendary live house now brings you musical magic from a courtyard of the Duanqirui Government and after a fancy face lift, the venue offers a five hundred square meter surface, which can easily hold up to one thousand people on a good night. Just like good wine, Yugongyishan just got better with age.
