The Chinese mainland reported 26 imported COVID-19 cases with no locally-transmitted infection on Monday, said the National Health Commission in its daily report on Tuesday.
In breakdown of the data in regional distribution, seven cases were registered in Shanghai Municipality, five reported in Yunnan, four each in Shandong and Guangdong, three in Shaanxi, two in Fujian and one each in Jilin and Heilongjiang, the commission specified.
Encouragingly, 27 patients were discharged from hospital upon recovery on Monday, and 1,710 close contacts have been released from medical observation safe and sound. The number of severe cases was one less from the previous day.
Cumulatively, a total of 9,166 imported cases had been reported on the mainland by the end of Monday. Of the cases, some 8,644 patients had been discharged from hospital following recovery, while 522 others remained hospitalized, including two severe cases. No deaths had been reported among the imported cases.
As of Monday, the mainland had reported a total of 96,284 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Of them, 90,792 had been discharged from hospital following recovery, and 4,636 had died as a result of the virus.
There was one suspected case as of Monday.
A total of 1,202,843 close contacts had been traced, with 27,526 still under medical observation, according to the commission.
A total of 15 asymptomatic cases were newly reported Sunday, all of whom were imported. A total of 348 asymptomatic cases, including 335 imported ones, were under medical observation on the mainland by Monday.
A total of 28,559 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Macao SAR and Taiwan region of China by Monday.
The Hong Kong SAR reported 12,230 cases, with 11,926 patients discharged from hospitals and 213 deaths.
The Macao SAR reported a total of 74 confirmed cases, with 64 patients discharged from hospitals after recovery.
The Taiwan region logged a total of 16,255 confirmed cases, with 13,742 discharged from hospitals and 844 deaths.
