USGS’ Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said scientists detected a glow in in Kilauea summit webcam images at 4:44 a.m., “indicating that an eruption has commenced within Halemaumau crater in Kilauea’s summit caldera, within Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park.”
