Dada Bar Beijing
Oshi and crew host live Swiss footwork/trap duo SIMPIG for their China debut. Expect fresh sounds from the current electronic music underground zeitgeist mixed in with "other influences such as UK Funky and all things Hyperdub in general." SIMPIG will play both live and DJ sets, with a strong roster of China-based talent going on before and after: Dokedo, Jason Hou (Do Hits), Blaise Deville (Shanghai), and Oshi.
When: 26 Feb 2016 Fri 22:00-late
Where: Dada Bar Beijing
Just as Temple has earned Gulou institution-status for serving up quality (or appealingly messy) live music night after night after boozy night, its downstairs neighbor Dada enjoys equal notoriety for going admirably hard all night, seven days a week– indeed, often into the morning.
It's the club to Temple's bar. You're getting live DJ sets, not bands. If you're wondering about the programming and the vibes, it's pretty credibly eclectic. Yes, you're going to hear dubstep, but also voices from 8-bit, psytrance and skweee. You're also getting a dark, dark dance floor (it's rubber, so don't worry about the Tiger Beer you just fumbled) so if you're lucky, people may have trouble putting a face to a name after they catch some of your 7:00 AM dance moves. Decor is appropriately hip (read: devil may care) and moderately industrial. A bar splits the dance floor from a lounge where you can take a breather, see and be seen.
There's usually a sizable group of smokers out front, chatting away, if you want to make friends somewhere you can hear yourself think - and, of course, a reliable jian bing cart on the street if you wear yourself out on the dance floor.
