2024年にパブリックドメインとなった短編『蒸気船ウィリー』（1928）を、残虐ホラー『テリファー』シリーズのプロデューサーが実写映画化。映画『テリファー』シリーズで殺人ピエロ“アート・ザ・クラウン”役を務めるデヴィッド・ハワード・ソーントンが、殺人鬼化した初代ミッキーマウスを演じる。監督は、人気児童文学「いじわるグリンチのクリスマス」をホラー映画化した『The Mean one（原題）』で知られるスティーヴン・ラモート。
