Since the decision made by the demonstrators in February of this year that the protest at Greenham Common would only involve women, participant numbers have grown by the day and now the US military base is surrounded by more than 20,000 women. Whilst the movement began in opposition to the stationing of US nuclear missiles, there are growing concerns that this is becoming an opportunity for Let’s eat then, shall we? Oh, not for me. Okay. Um, I was just busy doing the interviews and writing them up. There’s this friend of mine from university who works at a publisher. They’ve asked me to write about my family’s memories of Nagasaki. But you don’t know anything about Nagasaki. So, it’s a good opportunity to ask you about it. You never really told me why you left. Who’s going to be interested in reading something like that? 俳優の広瀬すずさんの主演映画「遠い山なみの光」（石川慶監督、9月5日公開）の本編映像の一部が公開された。イギリスの自宅で娘・ニキ（カミラ・アイコさん）が母・悦子（吉田羊さん）にこれまで聞いたことのない長崎での話を聞かせて欲しいとイギリスの自宅で訴える、今作の物語の発端となる重要な会話を捉えた映像となっている。
映画は、ノーベル文学賞作家であるカズオ・イシグロさんの同名小説が原作。1950年代の長崎と1980年代の英国を舞台に、原爆を体験した女性・悦子（広瀬さん）が抱える記憶の秘密に迫るヒューマンミステリー。同映画祭の「ある視点」部門に正式出品された。
日本人の母とイギリス人の父を持つニキ。大学を中退して作家を目指す彼女は、長崎で原爆を経験し戦後イギリスへ渡り、苦楽を共にした長女を亡くした母の悦子の半生を作品にしたいと考える。次女にこわれ、ずっと口を閉ざしてきた過去の記憶を語り始める悦子。それは、戦後間もない長崎で出会った、佐知子という女性とその幼い娘と過ごしたひと夏の思い出だった。だが、ニキは次第にその物語の食い違いに気づき始め……というストーリー。
長崎の悦子を広瀬さん、佐知子を二階堂ふみさん、イギリス時代の悦子を吉田さん、悦子の夫役を松下洸平さん、その父親役を三浦友和さんが演じる。
