Let’s light candles in paper lanterns
Let’s arrange peach blossoms
The dolls of five court musicians playing flutes and hand drums
Today is joyful Hinamatsuri
Emperor and Empress dolls
Are sitting calmly side by side
The dolls of the fair-skinned court ladies
Look much like my elder sister who got married and left home.
The candle flame reflected on the gilded folding screen
Is swaying faintly with the spring breeze
Minister of the Right’s face is flushing
Perhaps because he had a sip of white sake.
I will change into a Japanese traditional kimono with a sash belt
I will get all dressed up for today
On this pleasant spring day of March
I enjoy Hinamatsuri more than anything.
