On the Left – Daniele Garozzo of Italy (FIE Rank 3) – reigning Olympic Champion from Rio 2016. During this Olympic cycle, Garozzo won the 2017 Tbilisi European Championships; 2 World Cups; and a bronze medal at the 2017 World Championships.
On the Right – Takahiro Shikine of Japan (FIE Rank 5) – reigning Asian Champion from Chiba 2019. Shikine won a silver at the final event before the Olympic Games – Qatar 2021 Grand Prix. Shikine also won a bronze medal at the 2017 World Championships.
