Bohemian is back with a vengeance and ready to take on the world with Catherine Dufour at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. At the end of day one this combination is sitting in second place behind Jessica von Bredow Werndl and Dalera in the Grand Prix.

From The FEI:
After the first day of Dressage at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, The Netherlands holds the lead in the Team competition ahead of Denmark in silver medal spot and Great Britain in bronze.

However, with the best score of the day coming from the last into the ring but the first of the German contingent, Jessica von Bredow Werndl and the lovely mare TSF Dalera who posted a personal-best of 84.379, the defending Olympic team champions and firm favourites look set to move out in front after tomorrow’s second session of the Grand Prix.

On an evening of exceptional sport, it was two solid performances from Edward Gal and Total US (78.649) and Hans Peter Minderhoud with Dream Boy (76.817) that secured the advantage for the team in orange.

The athletes competed in three separate groups and two riders from each group have qualified for next Wednesday’s Grand Prix Freestyle which will decide the Individual medals.

From Group A the qualified riders are Great Britain’s Charlotte Fry (Everdale) and Sweden’s Therese Nilshagen (Dante Weltino OLD) and from Group B Denmark’s Cathrine Dufour (Bohemian) who posted the second-best score of the day (81.056) and Dutch rider Gal. In Group C the top two were von Bredow-Werndl and USA’s Sabine Schut-Kery (Sanceo), the latter producing a superb performance this evening for a score of 78.416.

Another three groups will compete tomorrow, and the best eight of the 14 competing nations will go through to Tuesday’s Grand Prix Special which will decide the destination of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Dressage team title.
