小さな軽バンに映画館を作って車中泊。家よりも快適な車内で過ごす夜。
Hey guys, it’s Yuuka! Right now, I’m here in Kusatsu Onsen. I parked my car at a parking lot about a 5-minute walk from the Yubatake. And tonight, I’m planning to sleep in my car here. Actually, today is my second day in Kusatsu. I soaked in the hot springs and stayed at a ryokan, so yeah, I’ve fully enjoyed it already. So today is officially a budget day, which means… car camping as usual. First things first, I’ll set up my bed. I wanna just flop down already… Hotels in Kusatsu are seriously expensive. Even the cheapest ones are around $60 a night with no meals. I guess this season is super popular? It’s kinda rough, honestly. But hey, I’ve got Papa Clipper, so I’m totally fine even without a hotel. ※With the money I saved… oops, I mean I can save it, not drink beer. The car is nice and warm. ※Thanks to the heater, I can car-camp even in winter now. It’s way too cold outside. There’s something I really want to do today. And that is… What could it be? The answer is, I connected a Fire Stick to my monitor! ※Turning my kei van into a movie theater episode. So when I turn the power on, it looks like this, with Netflix and YouTube and basically anything I want to watch. Oh no… there’s way too much I wanna watch… I wanna watch everything, but before that, when you think of movies, this is a must, right? Popcorn. I stopped by a wholesale supermarket earlier, and bought this DIY popcorn kind. So now, I’m gonna make some popcorn. Alright, shall we start getting ready to make it? First, my trusty IH stove. And a pot— ※A woman who is terrifyingly bad at organizing. It’s such a struggle every time I take stuff out. I wish it were just a bit more spacious though. Wait, I can’t find the pot… guess this frying pan works. So, the frying pan, and this—some oil. Alright then, let’s get started. Yuuka’s Kitchen, start! This space here is pretty tight too, so I have to place the IH sideways or it won’t fit. ※With the kei van’s space, adding more storage feels basically impossible. Like… there’s just no physical room, so yeah, probably not happening… Next, I’m gonna add some oil. How much? Uh… vibes? No idea… this much? Is that too much? Maybe. Whatever, it’s fine. 【Fun fact】Yuuka’s Kitchen is basically powered by “whatever.” I’m gonna open this up, and there were a bunch of flavors, but I went with the butter one. There was also soy sauce, like, and salt too—I feel like there were a bunch. Alright, time to heat it up. Is this gonna start popping? I’m excited though. But also kinda scared, you know? It goes BANG BANG BANG, right? I think? So yeah, like this—let’s just watch it for a bit. Looks tasty. Wait… no it doesn’t yet… Today’s Kusatsu sightseeing was so fun. I got to see the steam again after forever, and I ate a ridiculous amount of food. Konnyaku, onsen eggs, a burger, fried oysters, soda, fries, and I even had a breakfast buffet, and yesterday I ate sukiyaki too. Okay, I had *too* much fun… So tonight, I’m keeping it to just popcorn. ※If I eat any more, I’ll go broke and won’t make it back to Tokyo. Wait… I hear something… But it’s so steamy I can’t see anything. Maybe I shouldn’t open it? It’s done! Whoa. It smells soooo good. ※I somehow pulled it off…!! When I was little, I had this Hello Kitty popcorn-making machine, and I used it all the time. I’d crank it like my life depended on it, but I realized as an adult… spinning it faster doesn’t make more popcorn, right? I really thought it would increase the amount, so I tried so hard. ※I remember even my mom being like “uhh… you good?” from how hard I was cranking it. There’s so much—this makes me so happy! My first popcorn-making attempt was a success! Looks sooo good. Lately, no matter how much I eat, I’m still hungry. Even though I’m eating *this* much. I still wanna keep eating. At movie theaters, I always get caramel popcorn. I buy butter sometimes, but not that often. I loooove the super dark caramel-coated parts. You know, the really dark bits? Those are seriously the best. Uh oh… it’s not fitting anymore… what do I do… ※Don’t worry, I’m not talking about *myself*. Wait—this is bad, what do I do?! Panic. Help—this is bad—someone help me… what do I do… I think… it’s all done now? Maybe it’s done. Alright, it’s finished! How is it? It turned out amazing. I nailed it. ※For popcorn, this turned out surprisingly un-pop. Oh right—and for movie-watching, I connected it to this speaker too. So the sound is perfect. Including me, there are only like two or three cars in this parking lot, so I think it’s fine to play sound tonight. I’ll just go with my all-time favorite. The Golden Spy Mission. Alright, decision made. Let’s set the mood a little. This is way too perfect… Movie theaters are so nice… Maybe I should start my own theater? If you come to Kusatsu right now, you can watch a Shin-chan movie with me for about $14. ※Person casually trying to start a movie theater without permission. You’ve probably noticed already, but eating straight out of the frying pan is my style. No matter what, I refuse to increase the amount of dishes. I actually debated between a monitor and a projector for a while, but a projector would be too big and complicated, and I’d probably block it with my own body, so I figured I wouldn’t be able to see. That’s why I went with a monitor. And honestly, choosing a monitor was 100% the right call. It’s sooo easy to watch. ※Plus, monitors are way easier for editing too. This girl here is my favorite character—“Lemon-chan.” Apparently her real name is “Snowmono Lemon.” This is way too fun, like… what is happening… Honestly, every time my own video comes out, I might come watch it in the car. Lately, I sometimes get comments like, “I wanna meet Yuuka-chan too,” “and I wanna see Papa Clipper in real life!” Not like a whole Papa Clipper exhibition or anything, but if I did something like a Papa Clipper “show-and-tell,” do you think you guys would have fun? And honestly, I kinda wanna see everyone’s cars too. Sometimes I get comments like, “I car-camp too,” “I customize my car,” so like, I’m really curious about what your setups look like. Me, completely sucked into this Crayon Shin-chan movie. We’re finally at the emotional climax scene. Shin-chan totally collapses like he’s out of strength, but the truth is… he just ripped a HUGE fart. That’s what I love about Shin-chan—it’s funny, but it still gets you emotional. You little punk… that’s my son!! (He literally just farted.) The end. It’s over. Man, Shin-chan movies are just the best. I got sooo emotional. And I basically finished all the popcorn. I did mess up some of the kernels though. Shin-chan is so good… Also, his athletic ability is way too insane. And Lemon-chan was such a good girl at the end too, I’m moved. Alright, so I finished the movie, and now I wanna go for a nighttime stroll around the Yubatake. I made it over to the Yubatake area. The night vibe is sooo good. It’s super sparkly. Wow. Look look—there’s a Christmas tree! It’s HUGE. Wow… My first illuminations of the year! The lights and the steam go together so perfectly. It’s seriously beautiful. ※She literally said “it’s lit up” herself!!” Nighttime Kusatsu is unreal… Everyone should 100% come here. Like, isn’t this kind of crazy? It’s freezing, but I’m getting so hyped. Those onsen inns around the station area look so nice too. There’s this place called Ichii that I’ve been curious about for a while. I wanna stay there someday. The place I stayed yesterday is down this way and then about a five-minute walk from there. It’s really close, but having a place literally zero seconds away on foot is wild. Oh, that’s the all-you-can-eat steak place I was eyeing earlier. ※Just gonna peek inside for a second, okay. I did it… It looked way too good and I totally gave in to temptation… I ordered the Kusatsu specialty, Jigokudani Steak. Doesn’t this look insanely good? This is kinda dangerous… I ordered the 200-gram one, but the steak is so thick, it looks like way more than that. ※?! No, um… this isn’t what it looks like. Eating Jigokudani Steak without drinking alcohol would be literal “hell,” right? So I ordered it today… Oh no, my Shizuoka dialect slipped out. In Shizuoka, saying “—dani?” kind of means “right?” or “you know?” Like, “This is good, dani?” We don’t use it *that* often, but that’s basically how it works. ※Successfully dodged sobriety using my hometown dialect ^^ Let’s eat. The meat is super tender, but it still has a nice chew, like, you really feel that you’re eating meat—so good. ※More worried about the rice stuck on my face than my food review skills. This place is called SilverBack, and the menu had American flags on it, so I guess it’s American-style steak? The sauce is pretty rich too, it makes you wanna eat so much rice. This steak, 200 grams with a rice set, was about $16, and the parking lot I’m using costs around $14 to park until morning. So saving money by car camping and then spending it on dinner like this feels totally worth it. ※Steak plus hot wine is an unbeatable combo. Hot wine is so good. Actually, the day this video goes live is Kitchen Car Day, right? I wonder if you guys are drinking hot wine with me right now. I really hope the food truck is doing great. ※If you came, tell me what you ate in the comments! Kusatsu Onsen really has such a great vibe. I wanna bring my mom here someday. She loves hot springs so much, I know she’d be sooo happy if I brought her. 【Fun fact】My mom actually travels even more than I do—she’s a total pro. Thanks for the meal. The Jigokudani Steak was seriously amazing. After finishing dinner, I came over to Shirahata no Yu. Apparently they’re open for day-use baths until 11 p.m., so I’m gonna hop in right now. Being able to enjoy day-use onsen like this is really what makes Kusatsu special, right? Alright then, here I go. I’m back from the day-use onsen. Shirahata no Yu was insanely hot. Like, the back area was so hot nobody could even get in. This Kusatsu trip has been wild. I’ve been soaking in super hot water nonstop. On my way back, it started raining, and then suddenly turned into a total downpour. ※Rain-girl mode activated again, even in Kusatsu. I somehow made it back using stuff as a makeshift umbrella. It was my first time seeing Kusatsu at night, and the steam all lit up felt so fresh and was really beautiful. I thought about walking around a bit in this GORON, but Kusatsu was absolutely freezing. Apparently the elevation here is over 1,000 meters. ※If I kept wandering around in GORON, I would’ve frozen solid. That lit-up Christmas tree from earlier is apparently up until February 23rd. Isn’t that super long? So it stays up even after Christmas ends. February 23rd—that’s Mount Fuji Day. Which means… the moment you’ve been waiting for. I walked around Kusatsu earlier today, and I picked up some souvenirs then. Crayon Shin-chan cream sandwich cookies. Apparently these are Kusatsu-only. ※This trip is basically turning into Shin-chan fan activities. And also, Kusatsu Onsen Monogatari. The lid always falls off this. Alright, to a night of car camping in Kusatsu— cheers! Refueling. It’s really easy to drink, super clean and refreshing. This bottle is so cute too, right? This beer is an American ale type, known for its hoppy aroma and bitterness. But it’s honestly not that bitter. Asahi Super Dry actually feels more bitter to me. This goes so well with the beer… Sweet, with a little bitterness. ※I mean, beer goes with pretty much anything though. You can really hear the rain, huh. Can you hear this? Looks like tonight’s gonna be car camping in the rain. Again, huh… ※Car camping in the rain (just my normal routine). Being able to travel like this in my own car is really the best. I’m so glad Papa Clipper came back. And having the monitor installed is huge too. Watching movies was so much fun, and the other day I played on my Switch too—that was great. Also, it’s not in the video yet, but I actually upgraded the navigation system. The nav system got a full refresh, and now there’s a brand-new, latest model installed. I’ll do a proper intro for it another time. Alright then, thanks for the meal. Night drinks were fun too. I think it’s about time to sleep. I usually sleep with my head this way, but since there’s a monitor, maybe I’ll face this way tonight. Alright then, good night. Good morning. It was warm inside the car, but last night was insanely cold. When I went outside to go to the bathroom— ※Oops, I forgot I’m “not supposed to go to the bathroom” (my bad). It was freezing out there, and it was raining too, it was so cold I honestly thought the wipers might freeze. It looks sunny right now, but it’s actually still raining. I forgot to mention this yesterday, but overnight parking guests get this tag, so you can officially do approved car camping. So when you come to Kusatsu, staying in your own car is actually a totally valid option. I’ll take a walk around the Yubatake for breakfast, and maybe stop by a footbath café. I parked Papa Clipper right here, and the restrooms are over there. Not that I use them, but— ※I actually searched for the bathroom just to show you (true story). There’s Kosenji Temple here. On the way there, you just go down these stairs, but coming back is rough. You have to climb a *lot* of stairs. You can see the Yubatake now. This is where that huge Christmas tree was yesterday. ※Basically my own backyard… or more like my Yu-batake. I’ve arrived—“Yubatake Sōan.” Here, I’m gonna soak my feet and enjoy some breakfast. So warm… ※Refueling… but it’s not beer this time. I actually came to this shop yesterday too. I thought I’d grab something for breakfast, but they only had the Kusatsu Burger. And I literally ate a Kusatsu Burger yesterday too… So I decided to pass this time. Honestly, I *need* to keep it to just this, because I’ve been eating an insane amount in Kusatsu… I even had steak yesterday, ※I’m eating so much I’m worried about both my weight and my wallet. This morning, I went into Shirahata no Yu one more time, and my skin felt all tingly. Apparently after you get out, it feels kinda slippery, but if you have sensitive skin, it can get irritated. I might’ve become a skincare queen since coming to Kusatsu. But seriously, working in an onsen town and then soaking in the hot springs like this… it’s sooo nice. My family home has a field too, so maybe I should try digging? What if a hot spring comes out… ※I should ask my dad if I’m allowed to dig first. Alright, after I chill a little longer, I’m gonna buy something and head back to the car. ※Alright, shall we start getting ready to make a quick escape? Uh oh, it’s raining… Wait—this isn’t rain… is that hail?! It’s hail. Wow, I haven’t seen hail in forever. I’ve become a hail girl now. Hail-girl. By a “random chance”… I became a hail-girl. I’m back from the footbath café. For breakfast today, I bought a Tako-bō. Well, I ate way too much yesterday, so… this feels like the right amount today. It’s kinda like chikuwa, I guess. ※Please don’t expect too much from my food reviews. Man, Kusatsu was so fun for these two days. Last time was just a day trip, but staying two nights like this lets you do so much more. I got to stay at a ryokan, do food-hopping, soak in the onsen, and even car camp, I seriously did it all. Thanks for the meal! That was sooo good. Alright, I’m gonna drive back home now. Thanks so much for watching all the way to the end today. If you know any good car-camping spots, please tell me in the comments! If you enjoyed this video, please subscribe, comment, and hit the like button! Alright then, bye-bye!
