軽キャンピングカーで400kmドライブ、長距離運転はさすがに過酷でした…

Hi, it’s Yuuka! My little Papa Clipper van has finally come back to life… …well, actually not yet. Since it’s being customized, I’m borrowing a loaner car. So today, I’ll be traveling with this car instead. Wanna take a quick look at the exterior? *It’s a kei van fully customized like a mini camper.* The front looks super unique. It’s actually kinda cute. And the inside is also pretty wild… But I’ll save that for later. Alright, let’s hit the road! There’s a place I really, really want to go today. So I’m about to drive all the way to Nagoya. A 400 km road trip! Gotta stay focused until I take the key out. Let’s drive safely and go~ Right now I’m around Shinjuku. Or maybe closer to Shin-Okubo? Next month around here, I’m actually hosting a food truck event! It’ll be on Saturday, December 13th, from morning till night. Details will be in the description box. I’ve always dreamed of having a food truck. I’m pretty sure I mentioned it in a video like two years ago. It’s been a long-time dream. So I’m super happy it’s finally coming true. I’ve already decided on the menu, actually— Rice balls, fried chicken, fries, frankfurters, and churros! I went with all the classic favorites this time. Since it’s my first time, you know? Classics are usually what everyone likes best. So that’s the vibe I went with. And since it’s December and close to Christmas, I wanted a little Christmas feeling too. So I added churros and hot wine to the menu. I’m even thinking of dressing up as Santa. So you all better come dressed as reindeer! Wait… imagine Shinjuku full of reindeer— we’d make the news. People would be like, “Wow, so many reindeer!” but— Nope, just a bunch of goofy adults. There’s no entry fee or anything, so feel free to swing by! Grab some lunch while you’re at it. I’m from Shizuoka, so no matter how many times I drive in Tokyo, I never get used to it. Like, I think the right lane is open— but nope, it’s a right-turn-only lane. And aren’t there way too many underground roads? And bridges? My nav just cannot keep up… I literally need a 3D navigation system to survive… *Tokyo roads are as complicated as a teenage girl’s heart.* Is this Shinjuku-sanchome Station? Isn’t this where the Marunouchi Line runs? By the way, when I’m not filming, I’m basically always singing while I drive. People sometimes tell me they want to see “Yuuka’s real driving moments.” But I’m literally singing nonstop, so… I don’t think I can ever upload that… It’s embarrassing, and also probably… several issues… *YouTube would get mad at me.* Ever since I customized my van, the back looks like an actual house, but I’m singing in the front so it’s basically a house with karaoke. Oh no… I’m getting hungry… I skipped breakfast today, so I’m starving… I’m craving Yoshinoya’s beef sukiyaki hot pot right now. Isn’t that thing insanely good? I always start craving it when winter comes. Oh no… now that I’m thinking about it, I want it even more. Thinking about Yoshinoya is… yoshi-naya. (bad pun) Ugh, that just makes me hungrier! *My usual in-car behavior. (Not normal)* Isn’t Tokyo traffic seriously insane? I’ve been driving for so long and haven’t moved at all. When you drive in Tokyo, don’t you mentally calculate the ETA × 2? Like if a place should take 30 minutes, you just leave an hour early. It gets soooo jammed. You honestly shouldn’t trust the Shuto Expressway. Sometimes taking the expressway is slower than just staying on normal roads—like, way slower. There are just too many people and cars everywhere… Oh, we’re near Harajuku Station. I used to love Harajuku so much. Back in middle school I was super obsessed with it. Recently I haven’t gone to Takeshita Street in literally years though. But when you’re a student, it’s like THE dream place. Buying those giant rainbow cotton candies, and you know those sketchy foreign guys trying to lure you? I actually followed one once and ended up buying a hat… Back then Tokyo just looked like pure magic everywhere. I mean, it still sparkles now, of course, but the way I saw the world was totally different. I wonder if everyone else feels the same. I think that was about 10 years ago? Since I’m 18 now… that means I was 8… Wait—that doesn’t add up at all… Ugh, I was just about to say something… but I got distracted while driving and forgot. What was it again…? I seriously forget things ALL the time. Like, I lose stuff constantly. Even today, the thing I meant to bring— I packed it carefully till the last second, and still forgot to put it in my bag. I always forget stuff like this. What I forget the most is travel gear. So I usually try to keep everything inside my van so I never run out. Which means the van is ALWAYS a mess. It’s basically always messy. And I forget my portable charger constantly. I charge it and prep it perfectly, but then forget to put it in my bag and end up leaving it at home. The other day, I forgot my whole skincare set at a hotel… and had to get it mailed back to me. Of course, mailing costs money— like about $6 or so. Such a waste… literally throwing money away… I really want to stop forgetting things. How do you even fix this…? Maybe it’s impossible… Oh, Ichiran! Looks so good. This Ichiran is always packed. Actually, every Ichiran everywhere is always packed. *Oh—on the left, that’s the nostalgic Shibuya cocoti…!!* *I did an event there back in March.* *Just reminiscing as I drive…* When I film my Japan road trip series, I usually only start filming once I arrive. Scenes of me driving like this— I normally cut all of them out. But I thought it’d be fun to film a drive vlog for once. So today is a special one. How do you like it? Does it feel like you’re riding in the passenger seat? Is it fun? This is pretty much what I’m like when I really drive. *Your job in the passenger seat is to leave comments and hit like!* Papa Clipper is still getting customized right now, and when I went to peek at it the other day— it had changed a LOT. The monitor was already installed too. If I say more it’ll spoil the surprise, so I’ll stop here… But now that the monitor’s in, I seriously can’t wait to watch Netflix in it. Oh no… a yakiniku place. I’m not gonna look. Do you guys know the yakiniku chain Anrakutei? I’ve been obsessed with it lately and go pretty often. Their egg soup is insanely good. Like seriously, try it. It’s SO good. I love yakiniku way too much, honestly. I wanna know your recommended yakiniku spots in Tokyo. Well, even if it’s not in Tokyo— I’d totally travel far just for it. I’m basically a yakiniku otaku. *I’ll go anywhere in Japan for good yakiniku.* I really love the vibe around Sangenjaya. It’s such a cute area. Right? Isn’t it nice? There are so many restaurants, and I usually love places with lots of food options. Anywhere with good food is automatically fun. Finally looks like I can get on the highway. I forgot my ETC card today, so there were way too many ETC-only entrances, and I just couldn’t get in. My poor little car width suffered for it… Finally getting on the highway. Tokyo Interchange. I can finally drive freely from here. *It’s merge-concentration time, so Kyoro-chan mode activated.* Luckily no one was merging today. Lucky me. Being able to go fast feels amazing. I literally didn’t go this fast even once while driving in central Tokyo. I was stuck doing like 30–40 km/h the whole time. This car… it feels just like my family’s old truck. The windows even roll down manually like this. And the steering wheel heaviness is super similar. It’s heavier than Papa Clipper. More like… stiffer. It’s kinda blocky-feeling. When you turn just a little, it swings way more than you expect. I miss Papa Clipper… But saying that too much might hurt this loaner car’s feelings, so I’ll try not to say it out loud. Ah, it’s the payment booth. Since I don’t have ETC today, I’m going through the regular lane. Gotta send a “super chat” to the toll booth staff. I wonder if it’s gonna be expensive… How much will it be… Oh right… this car is manual… This wasn’t the payment booth yet. It was just the ticket machine. Wow, doing everything manually is way harder than I thought… Alright, time to officially aim for Nagoya! Let’s keep things “Nagoya-ka” and peaceful. Oh no… I’m getting super hungry. My stomach won’t stop growling… Maybe I’ll do a little service area tour. Which service area should I go to? But the first stop is obviously *that* place. It doesn’t even start unless I go there. The place with the melon bread! Pretty sure that one’s the closest, right? I’m starving… seriously. This is bad… But weirdly, being hungry sometimes helps me focus— so driving actually feels easier like this. I’m doing a kitchen car event in Shinjuku on December 13th, and if that goes well, I kinda want to try doing it elsewhere too. It’d be fun to travel the whole country with a kitchen car. But first I just want the Dec. 13 event to be a huge success. If it turns out fun, I wanna do another one right away. I wonder if everyone will enjoy it too. I seriously love kitchen cars. If I see one, I basically Ah, it’s the payment booth. But first I just want the Dec. 13 event to be a huge success. If it turns out fun, I wanna do another one right away. I wonder if everyone will enjoy it too. I seriously love kitchen cars. If I see one, I basically ALWAYS buy something. Even at service areas, I often end up buying from the kitchen cars. Don’t you guys buy long fries whenever you see them? And at fireworks festivals or summer matsuri— there’s sometimes kitchen cars too. I’d love to have a booth at one of those someday. I just love events in general. *Forgot the camera was rolling and ended up doing solo karaoke.* Solo karaoke… Wait no—solo drive! I messed up. I’m about seven minutes away from Ebina Service Area now. It took pretty long to get here, but singing made it fly by. I’ve never kept the camera rolling this long nonstop, so I didn’t notice until now— but the battery drains insanely fast. It’s almost out of battery already. Sorry if it cuts off midway. But honestly, before the camera dies— I might die from hunger first. The compact car lane is super empty. It’s a kitchen car! Looks so good. They’re selling fried chicken. I’m getting the urge to buy from the kitchen car… I’ve arrived. Ebina Service Area. I’m gonna take a meal break here for now. *First rest stop of the trip: Ebina Service Area.* What should I eat… I can’t decide… There’s a Yoshinoya here too, but— this Yoshinoya doesn’t have the beef suki-nabe set… Okay, decision made. I’m going with “Men’s ROAD” here. I got the tonkotsu ramen and mentaiko rice set. It looks so good. Alright, let’s dig in. I’m way too hungry right now, so let me eat properly for a moment. I legit thought I was gonna die. *No beer today, so I’m fueling up with soup instead.* Oh my god… It’s so good… *Ramen + rice = the ultimate carb combo. Unbeatable.* I’ve actually been to this Men’s ROAD before. When I took an overnight bus once, I ate at Men’s ROAD during the break. I think that time I only had like 15 minutes, but still slurped down ramen. And everyone in the comments was shocked about it. I remember people saying, “I got nervous watching you!” But today I’ve got unlimited time, so I’m gonna enjoy this fully. *There’s a theory that ramen during overnight bus breaks tastes 100× better.* By the way, looks like I’ve driven a bit over 50 km from Shinjuku. Still a long way to go. Not even halfway yet… I’m feeling kinda tired today. Maybe because I was starving? Maybe once I finish this, I’ll recharge and feel fine again. Honestly, I wanted to order a beer too, but yeah… that’s totally not allowed today. Serious no-drinking day. All done, thanks for the meal. It was insanely good. Now that I’m fully recharged, I’m gonna continue driving with full power. On my way back to the car— I found a super yummy-looking kitchen car. And… I bought something. I was gonna head out right away, but… Well, you know… They had fried chicken. So I thought I’d power up a little more before leaving. Let’s eat. So good… I’m planning to sell fried chicken at my kitchen car too, so you guys will be able to eat it on December 13th! *Eat fried food and become a fried-up hype machine! (…I guess?)* Kitchen cars just have such a fun vibe, don’t they? You can feel like you’re at a little festival even by yourself. I actually go alone pretty often, and people ask me like, “Are you okay? Won’t you stand out?” I get comments like that a lot, but you totally don’t stand out. I mean, I’m a lone wolf too, and honestly there are plenty of solo people, so it’s all good. Let’s just be solo buddies together. Now that I think about it, drinking with viewers… might actually be a first for me. It kinda sounds like I’m assuming I’ll be drinking too, but don’t worry— I’ll properly, um… be working…! *A rare chance to hear me say “No no, that’s not what I meant…” live.* From here on I’ll be driving along the coastline for the rest of the trip. I’ve always dreamed of doing a car-camping night in Atami. I suddenly remembered and now I really wanna go. Now I can’t stop thinking about it… Ughhh now I wanna go… If I do car camp, of course I’ll film it too. But this is supposed to be a Nagoya drive… I’m really torn… Should I go now or not… *Debating whether to detour to Atami and car-camp.* Oh no… …I did it… In the end, I actually went and did a car-camp night in Atami. But honestly, it was super fun. Now I’ve left Atami again, and I’m at the Suruga Bay Numazu Service Area on the Shin-Tomei Expressway. From here I’m heading toward Nagoya again, and driving… nice and “NAGOYA-ka” (calmly). *I’ll post the Atami car-camp video next time.* *Merge-zone focus time, so Kyoro-chan mode activated.* Since it’s Day 2 now, I changed the camera angle and started fresh with a new vibe. This drive to Nagoya is 400 km, and the longest I’ve ever driven before was probably when I went from Tokyo all the way to Akita. That was around 500 km, I think. I drove for like 8 to 9 hours straight. It was sooo far. I also went to Ine in Kyoto once, and that felt pretty far too. Which one’s farther? Probably Akita, right? Sometimes I drive my kei-van back to my parents’ house too. I’m from a place called Kakegawa in Shizuoka— do you know it? It’s pretty far on the west side. People always ask, “Since you’re from Shizuoka, do you see Mt. Fuji every day? That’s awesome!” But honestly, you can’t see it at all from the west area. I’ve never seen Mt. Fuji from my house. There were rumors that you can sometimes see it from school, but I never saw it even once. Once you go toward the eastern side, then it finally appears. So I don’t really have much connection with it. That’s why when I do see Mt. Fuji, I get super excited. Oh my gosh… it’s right there on my right now, but it’s not showing on camera today… Normally I film the outside too, but today I’m only filming the inside— so I can’t show you all Mt. Fuji… I’m sorry… But the weather isn’t super clear today, so it’s kind of cloudy and a bit hidden anyway. But Mt. Fuji on a sunny day is insanely pretty, right? I haven’t really seen it that many times though… I see this a lot on YouTube too. People all bundled up in super warm clothes filling a thermos with hot soup, making a warm little hotpot… I wanna do that so bad. And then waking up in the morning to find your whole car buried in snow— like you can’t even tell what shape it is anymore. I seriously admire that. But like… what do I even bring? Winter car camping in Hokkaido sounds kinda hard, right? *If you live in a snowy area, please give me advice!* I made it to the Shizuoka Service Area. I’m tired… I drove pretty far… I’m gonna hop out here and take a little break. This isn’t the biggest service area though, so I’m not sure if they even have restaurants. But let’s get out and take a look. Look look! The autumn leaves are so pretty! This place is so… *kouyou* again. NEOPASA Shizuoka. Look look, that crepe sign over there— doesn’t it look super good? And they have ice cream too. Should I get some…? “Fujisan Kogen Ideboku.” It all looks sooo good… which one do I pick? This whipped cream banana one looks nice. I love that it’s not overly sweet. Got myself a banana crepe! I went without chocolate this time. Alrighty, let’s dig in. Yum. Honestly, stopping for these little mini-breaks and nibbling on stuff is the best way to travel. Even though this one has no chocolate… *Yeah I know, it’s obvious I just wanted to say “choco.”* This whipped cream is so fluffy and insanely good. *It’s not too sweet so I could legit eat this forever.* *But if I go for seconds people might judge me, so I’ll chill.* Which service area should I stop at next? How far is it to Nagoya from here, I wonder… Lake Hamana sounds nice. Okazaki sounds good too… Since I take long trips by bus and car all the time, I’ve actually visited tons of service areas. I wonder if there are any I haven’t been to yet. Maybe not along this route. Service area hopping is seriously fun. Thank you for the food. Alright, time to get back on the road. Okay, heading to the next service area now— time to power through another round of driving. But I’m glad I could take a little “choco” break. Even though I didn’t eat any actual chocolate… Hope I can grab a meal at the next service area. Long drives really are fun. But Shizuoka is way too long… Even when I’m on the shinkansen, I always think— “Why does Shizuoka never end!?” Like I keep going and going and it’s STILL Shizuoka. I always go home on the Kodama, and the Kodama stops at like seven stations in Shizuoka. That’s so many… People always say Shizuoka looks like a goldfish, and right now I’m somewhere around the “chest” area. I wanna get to the “forehead” already. Well… guess I’ll keep going… I can see the sign for Kakegawa. 23 km. It’s so empty here. So, so empty. Since I already stopped at the Shizuoka SA, I was gonna go to the Hamanako SA next, but since I’m from here, I kinda wanna go to Kakegawa. It’s a bit early for another break though… Should I skip Hamanako and go to Kakegawa? But I DID wanna eat eel at Hamanako… ugh what do I do… Hmm… but yeah, I should probably go to my hometown. So, remember how I said I’m doing a food truck event on December 13? Is there anywhere else you guys want me to bring the food truck? Or anything specific you want me to do? Sometimes people tell me, “I want you to do an event in Kansai!” Actually, I’m doing one in Kansai on January 30–31. My very first Kansai event! So Kansai folks, please come hang out! Looks like I’ll get to the Kakegawa SA in about 13 minutes. *Since I’m here, might as well stop by my hometown SA too.* The Kakegawa Service Area looks like this. There’s Shoken Chinese, Matsuya, and Matsunoya. It’s basically full of stuff middle school boys would love. Look look, they even have capsule toys. Since I’m here, I should “super chat” Kakegawa too. Please, Kakegawa… let me win this… C’mon, show favoritism! I’m a Kakegawa citizen! Please!? I mean, seriously—support your people! *Even as a local, they didn’t let me win at all…* Look, look! It’s Shizuoka oden! Oden sounds sooo good. Maybe I’ll go with oden. It looks delicious… Konnyaku… Daikon… Alright, got it. Shizuoka oden. I was tempted to get gyudon for lunch too, I really debated it… but when you’re in Shizuoka, oden is the way to go. So I went with oden. Alright, let’s dig in. Yep, oden is definitely the cure for long-drive fatigue. I’m recovering sooo fast… Service areas are amazing because they pack all the local specialties into one spot. Just hopping around service areas already feels like sightseeing and it’s so fun. So everyone, if you’re passing by, stop at the Kakegawa Service Area! They’ve got oden, and— right behind me there’s even a shower room. It’s actually pretty well-equipped. So even if you’re driving late at night and think, “Oh no… I can’t take a bath today…”
don’t worry. You can take a shower. And it’s open 24 hours. You can go anytime. It’s amazing. *Highly recommended for people who don’t have a shower at home.* I actually considered serving oden at the December food truck event. I was debating it until the very end. It even made it into the final candidates… but in the end, I decided against it. Because people who come by car or from far away— if they wanted to take it home, soupy stuff is hard to carry. So I decided not to. I mean, imagine everyone trying to take oden home like this— it’d be a disaster. Just imagining it made me feel bad… so yeah, I gave up on it. *Good call—everyone’s wearing reindeer costumes,
so carrying soup would’ve been chaos.* The long drive drained my camera battery. I didn’t even notice it stopped recording
and just kept talking to myself… While the camera charges, I’ll show you the outside view. The sun’s starting to set, and the western light is getting strong. We’re down to the last 30 km until Nagoya— and that oasis I love is getting close. There’s no way I’m skipping it. I made it. Kariya Highway Oasis. I’m exhausted… I was actually torn between coming here and going to the Okazaki SA— but this place has something I *really* love. So I came here instead. Alright then, let’s take a quick look inside. There’s a ferris wheel! Looks so fun. Kariya Highway Oasis even has a parking lot for regular roads— so you can come here without taking the highway. I actually stayed here overnight in my car once. So this place is kinda nostalgic. But I actually have plans after this, so I can’t hang around too long. I’ve been eating and drinking at every stop, so time kinda slipped away… Even though it’s an oasis, I can’t relax too much— I need to move quickly. Here it is—my favorite, “Ebisenbei no Sato.” Their free samples are insanely generous, you could honestly stay here all day. Alright, I’m going in. Got some sample senbei! Yesss. They’ve got like seven kinds of crackers, and you can take as many as you want. Isn’t that super generous? *I stopped at three samples because I was scared they’d ban me.* That was so good. Okay yeah… I gotta buy some to take home. I’d feel bad if I only ate the samples. So I bought some! Okay I need to hurry… I might actually be late. Let’s go! I seriously don’t have time… And I also seriously don’t have gas, so I’m filling up here. Wait this gas is soooo expensive… This sucks. But if I don’t fill up now, I’m scared the car will die. *Static-removal sumo touch.* Alright, eat up, little car. *This is the real fueling time.* Watching the price go up is terrifying… 198 yen per liter? That’s crazy expensive. But I have no choice but to fill up here… *Never refuel on the highway — new family rule.* I messed up… Look at this. 26 liters for ¥5,293… (about $35) I’m gonna cry… Right after leaving Kariya, the toll gate showed up immediately. The toll was around ¥5,000 (about $33)… I’m broke. After this, I’m riding a certain vehicle… and I only have 30 minutes left until the reception closes, so I gotta hurry. I’ve arrived in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture! Yayyy! Finally made it… So glad I arrived safely. That was long… But it was fun. I got to stop at lots of service areas along the way. And I ate sooo many tasty things. I ate a lot today, didn’t I? Ramen, mentaiko rice, fried chicken, and I didn’t film it, but actually— I also ate the Ebina melon bread. Then oden, and crepes… Yeah I definitely overate. If I eat this much just going from Nagoya to Tokyo, what’s gonna happen if I go all the way to Kyushu… I’ll probably gain like 3 kilos. And that was my real-life driving scenery. I usually don’t film much while driving but— if you guys think this video was fun, maybe I’ll film more driving videos. I’ll be waiting for your comments. I actually have another plan now, and I’m seriously low on time. I have about 30 more minutes of driving from here. So I’m gonna power through and drive again. Thank you so much for watching until the end today. If you liked this video, please subscribe, comment, and give it a like! Alright then — bye-bye!
