Para Ice Hockey | Norway vs Kazakhstan | Day 2 | Qualification Tournament | Jessheim 2025
[Music] Come on. [Music] Heat. Heat. Ladies and gentlemen, [Applause] [Music] Good evening from a slightly chilly. Yes, I’m here in Norway. We are here for game six of the parolymp parolympic winter games qualifier. Six teams are here, but only two will make it to next year’s Milano Coutina Games. And what a competition we’ve had so far. Of course, Norway winning their game last night against Sweden. 18 there. Norway going to be looking to make that two wins in the column. But Kazakhstan, they’re here to prove that they belong on this stage as well. It’ll be massive for them to make it to the parolympic parolympic games in their first ever cycle as a team competing in the sport. What a story that would be. Norway though we know that they have plenty of stars on their bench and they showed it last night as around Robin every single game in this competition is important and a mustwin for these and this is something that Norway are really aware of. spoke speaking to some of the team staff and they just take on every single um opposition point in front of them. Kazakhstan, they’ve got a short bench and you know it’s really hard to play against such an experienced team with such a short bench as well. I’m Charlie Sk. We are just 20 seconds away from faceoff here in the air time. Kazakhstan’s extremely short bench, seven skaters and two goalies. And at the center we have afarov there refereeed by Matthew Ferg from Canada. Supported on the lines by T-ball Fiscus from Serbia and Tony Ramro from Sweden. And we get underway as Norway enter the Kazakhstan zone. Testing the goalie out. We’ve seen Basman off in net for Kazakhstan plenty of times. A lot of experience. Now [Applause] you see Kazakhstan, they will just roll with this one line replacing the odd player once in a while. Battle of the boards there. Not sure. I’m just trying to clear it, but gets hit by a Kazak player. But Pettison has time and he’s got the shot as well. Just to the right of the net, though. Stoga with shot in towards the net. You can see Norway just testing this Kazak goalie, testing the Kazak defenses. Every shot is worth taking, I’m sure. Lingro under pressure from Bakanov. But Deno, can he pass it out to teammate? No. And Lingro is going to pick this up and go up the ice. Nord Stoga as Norin also make a change. Drops it to Ling. Patterson along the boards picking it up. Lovely passing work here from the Norwegians. But Baknov will steal the puck from them. Skate out the zone, passing it to his teammate there, Bondero. Bucknov [Music] [Applause] and Hammer just putting the hammer down as it is still just round the back of the net and he’ll be picked up on the blue line by top [Applause] [Music] Lord Stoga. [Music] all the way back and that will be an icing. His nor tried to make a change but don’t get away with it. Kakan enter this tournament as the lowest seed. Of course, only here in the event just because Italy opted not to take their spot, allowing Kazakhstan a chance to compete against these teams. Kroberg [Applause] passing up the ice to Hammer Shmanov is going to take possession of the P instead passing behind the net to Bakanov. Dangerous there with a shot saved by the Kazak goalief though back again for an attempt just wide. Backer from range. Another pad save with the puck again. Annoy just testing the goalie. Of again passing to Vanes. back passing to Isf. Is with a shot deflected with the glove. Some great saves here from Basanov. [Music] [Applause] Norway with a change. Not as smooth as they would have hoped. Skull Burken with the puck passing up to Soulberg. Shmanov collect it trying to clear it out the zone is the Kazaks but too much on it and they’ve iced the puck there. Great start from Kazakhstan again. Norway though they are just throwing so much at Kazakhstan hoping something will go through. Kalistan needs to make some opportunities of their own. Pettison here across the ice up to Hammer passing it just not connecting though with North Saan again just caught at the blue line by the Norwegians. Crombbe with a shot and it goes right under the goalie there. That is the opening goal for Norway here. The crowd are loving it. What a great shot from there. Like I said, Norway is just really testing the Kazak defense there. Doing a great job. We reset for this face off here. Interestingly, Captain Car have taken the face off there. If you saw the game, yeah, I saved Kazakhstan. Um they had uh Brokenov out for the entire game basically taking every single face off. Interesting they’ve made that change up. [Music] It’s good to see Kazakhstan using the few other players they have rotating players out. High shot from Norway there. Sberg looking dangerous. Save though by the goalie. Goalie really low though. Sig get a lift off that. That would have gone right over [Applause] and that was close. Too many players there. OSF on the attack or setting up Vans there but just couldn’t make the connection. Shmanov around the boards. Skull Becken will now collecting the Norwegian end pressure from Bondero as well. Shmanov racing for that puck. Wilson beaten to it. No icing. now with the puck right in front of the goal. Pass it to Vans and Sber. Good work from Kazakhstan to kind of keep the puck under the sled. OSF though again out of the shot from OSF. Vanes though just couldn’t convert the rebound by Evan pass by captain coming off. And we see Brocknoff back on the ice. Doesn’t rest for long. And of course, he’ll line up for this face off against Ling as well. Puck puck back to North Stoga. There’s ice by Kazakhstan. And so they’ll come back to the same face off dot to reset. [Music] Norway so hungry to get this parolympic games birth hosting the competition to give them that extra edge in the competition. Norway well aware that every single game needs to watch North Stoga blocked by the Kazak defense. Can Kazakhstan escape the zone here? Crobe can collect out of the zone. Rockov passing it up [Music] and Kanana offside and they will take exception to that. Bakanov will love to take that invitation but not yet. We still got a few more days of games and a suspension is not what these players are going to want. But that is the fight in these players. Norwegians are going to defend their goalie. That shot after the whistle was not on and Banov was I think he was ready to accept that invitation. Kazakhstan tried to enter zone but pass it straight to quick Vatner. A shot from the blue line. very much philosophy of shoot when you can something will go through. We’ve already seen it but backing now Crookshank is going to chase might have a chance if Benko can’t catch up to him. Shot just wide goes behind the net back to Vatner. Shot over. Plays blown dead. Puck stuck in the netting there. Last time these two teams played each other, the last and only time uh people and Shien, 7-nil victory for Norway. How much have Kazakhstan improved since then? on Stoga trying to find a stick to pass that out to but the Klex keeper in the zone. Shmanov tries to get a shot off there but just didn’t manage it. Great by the captain kept in for short period but it’s back out. This is dangerous now. Norwegians just keep it on side. Of vanes a bit of a scramble there. Caught under the sleds and Kazakhstan clear it. Icing waved off. Bow chasing it down. Vanes along the boards here. Captain by Scorbecken who shoots it towards Nat. again. So just putting it towards net. See what they can do. Vaness is going to try and get this puck, but it’s cleared out. But there will be no icing as backer now. has possession doesn’t quite get the puck. [Music] Shanov just making sure the puck leaves the zone. But Pettison now dangerous. We saw him get two yesterday. Shot on his off hand. Bit wide and they’re just circling the Kazak net here trying to find a lane. Kazakhstan collapsing right into the goalie. Person shot. No goal. [Applause] [Music] I kept in [Music] Hammer battling two Kazak jerseys there. Pison with it under sled. Barkov will attempt to clear it and is successful but Norway still have the puck. Skull back end. Dumps it in. Quick shank and pel on chase [Applause] there to Pison. Back in Kazak hands in the neutral zone. Beexelton will want to create an attack now. Not quite got anyone to support him. Shot though. I think that almost took S by surprise. Forcing to make a save there. Maybe Kazakhstan have seen a little bit of what Norway’s doing, hoping that it would stick for themselves as well. Correct. B Of on the face off dot to the right. The goalie. Great dash around the boards there. Vanes is going to chase Shmanov with the puck across the ice. Topic wave and it’s kept. Oh, just offside. I almost thought he kept that in, but no. Croberg is just offside. [Music] Great intensity to this game. Sberg with a shot. Norway with possession in the neutral zone trying to make another entry into the zone but unfortunately offside. much the frustration in the Norwegian players becomes really important for Norway to make the most of these lines especially when you’re against an opposition who just have seven skaters [Music] again. Anchor it by on the face off of Lingruff. Wander just cutting off Norwegian player there. Scorebecken top passing it to Beexton. Doesn’t quite get control of the puck. would love to see something from Kazakhstan in this last minute to Pondero. Ah, cleared from the zone. Can Kazakhstan regroup? Create another attack. Pass back to Tott. Pass up to Bondero. Enters the zone. Pass it to Beexelton. Skullbeck though challenging knocking them Kazak off the puck. Although no icing’s cold there. Just 15 seconds left now. Some great work from Norway. As we see the end of the period, [Music] Yeah, what a period there from Norway. We’ve seen a lot of passing working much better now. And we’ll see both teams shouting as they exit the ice. All three teams really, the officials having a chat as well. But we’ll be back in 14 minutes to bring you the second period. Join us. Don’t go anywhere. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] You are [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] stand. [Music] [Music] serious. standing. [Music] Please welcome back. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] And welcome back. ready for the second period here of Norway versus Kazakhstan. The crowd here and gathering. What a great first period from uh from Norway. Really working the game well. Working through the passing. We’ve seen a change in strategy maybe for Kazakhstan. And by that I mean Boknov is not out the whole game. Some lots of fans here in the stands also including Norwegian women’s national team player and bronze medalist the first ever world championships women’s world championships it’s happened just yet this year Alexander Ben Dixon Lson so great to see her here supporting the team takes face off and straight away an icing call. Just 6 seconds in. [Music] Skull Becken just at the blue line passing it in to Oyf to Vanes just doesn’t quite get it loses an edge tucked by we’ll just leave it while Of regains the puck skating around Tuck. Can’t be there. Some nervy skating from Soulberg there. Shot on net just off. I think the crowd here thought that went in from stood next to me. [Music] Tucked up by neutral ice. Passing it up to Bokenov. Big hit. And look at this. Pison is racing after the puck. Not seen in the sport for a few years now. It’s just a speedy. Pedison is not happy with the lack of icing core. He’s not happy and will get a penalty for his remarks. The referee really not happy with that. That icing wasn’t called. [Music] Power play for Kazakhstan. Can they do something? We saw they had a shot earlier in the first period. Two minutes in sportsman context for Pison. Referee Matthew Ferg not happy with the way he spoke to the officials. Constant clear the zone but under pressure. [Applause] Norway have possession and they [Music] clear the puck up the ice. Back is going to pressure on Shmanov now. Vereno making a quick turn. [Music] You currently have a better view than I do right now. Here we go. Puck offside. OSF needs to clear the blue line. Bondero [Music] big hit on BL turn. Vanis passes it into open ice and Nordstro’s going to sk into it. Look at the sled bobbing along the ice as Norway return back to full strength here. Passing it to Bakanov. He has a shot here. Bar down to Banov. That was a great goal there. They didn’t quite get it on the power play. They still delivered. What a boost for Kazakhstan as the players make sure they celebrate with the goalies on the other end of the ice. Smiles on the Kavakan bench there. Crook Shank taking the face off from Baknov. Shmanov collects the P. It’s no icing cold. Correct. Backer though collects on the blue line skating in takes a shot off the pads. Still not clear though for Kazakhstan. [Music] See Chrisson there on the ice as well. as these players battle by the boards. No, he just dumped the puck back in as they come offside. [Applause] Really messy change from Norway there. Can’t caught themselves just offside. Deliberate offside is going to cause that faceoff. down in Norwegian ends. Oyf is going to line up against Bokenov. Can Kazakhstan somehow swing the momentum of this game? Crit by dumps the puck in. Skull Beccan back now formulating their plan of attack. ISF doesn’t quite get the puck and it’s cleared by Kazakhstan from their zone, but Norway will just attempt to re-enter again. Soulberg disrupted by Shangh working really hard to get to the puck and great work to keep that in as well from Becca. OSF with a shot. Great stop there by Kazakhstan. Hberg though under pressure from Boknov passing it to the stick of Beexelton. Not sure he meant to do that on purpose. Barkov taking a big hit there. Bakov really having to work hard to withstand the Norwegians. Lingrath though passing up to Pettison. Pettison with a chance here weave through Kazak defense. Great save there by the Kazak Gurley. Batsmanov. Great job. Holden penalty called. Bakanov called for holding. Not what Kazakhstan need right now. We know Norway can be dangerous. And look, communication between the Norwegian players. Pison score and making plans across the ice there and Pison skating in. Save by Basmin. Pedison pass it back to Skull Beckham. Passing it back to Pedison. Skull Beckham put it in toward Quick Shank. But it ends up clearing the zone. Backer 1 minute 30 left on the power play for Norway. Beexel just doing as much as he can to interrupt the Norwegian flow. Isf though with the puck fending off Beexelton. Another shot just wide. Just such momentum bashing into each other on these sleds. Backer neutralized. Pedison shoots just under the goalie. That’s Pettison’s third of the tournament. What a goal for Norway. Pison doing really well. Pison determined to stamp Norway’s ticket to Milan. Kazakhstan definitely an improved team from what we saw just two years ago. But can they withstand the Norwegian intensity especially at home in front of the Norwegian fans? Bondo top tab just hit down by Vner Croberg is behind No, but there’s a Kazak jersey there to meet him. Nordstrom correct BF top on the blue line in Bondero tried to pass it out to B. Some big collisions going on. That’s the sport par ice hockey we love. Again, the pug just getting stuck at the boards, but it crosses to the other side of the ice there, giving Norway the chance to formulate their plans again. Vanage is offside. Stopping the m momentum there for Norway. Oh. Of course, Bognov taking it opposite him. Sberg around the net, makes a backhand shot which is saved by the Kazak goalie. The Kazaks now have an attack of their own. Shmanov into the zone. It’s a shot just wide though. Seth again back and forth between the two zones. Shmanov passing out to top by Bonder’s there for in support. But Norway just shutting them down time after time. Offside again for Norway. They’re just too keen to enter that zone. Great work from Norway to get it into the zone. Patterson is chasing Pettison doesn’t care about skating through Kazak jerseys. Croberg just trying to get the puck. Lingraph will chase again. Sun’s just making sure that goalie the goal is safe. Hammer with a big hit from Barkov. Oh, and a shot from behind the balloon line. And that’ll be covered by Bassmanov. again. Referee Matt Ferg talking to the players. He wants to keep things fair, but he also wants to give both teams the opportunity to shine. What a shot there. Big hit. Bakanov though, can he make something happen? Back will chase the puck. And again, just the skating skill here from Norway. You can tell that’s this is a team that just works so hard on every aspect of the game. Sber behind the net, passing intercepted by the Kazak defense and the puck leaves zone. on Durenko. Baknov just putting the puck into the zone, but it’s going to get intercepted by Baka. Shot just to the left. That’ll be received by Of though who will skate in, make a shot of his own. Gani got a piece of it, but didn’t manage to get it in the glove. And oneno 1 minute 30 left on this period. Kaklan send the puck up the ice. They’ll be icing. Impressive endurance from the Kazak team. short bench, meaning that they’re going to has to play an enormous amount of minutes. Whereas with a full bench, Norway can just rotate those guys in and out. Tab will try to form an attack here. Walk passing up. Tab just doesn’t get on it, but he managed to get on side. But immediately give possession back to Norway. Kazakhstan with a lot of their own shots. I think they saw what Norway doing especially in the first period. Making some shots of their own. Edison with possession now. Just 20 seconds left in the period. Is that enough time for Ivy team to make a play happen here? And it gets covered up by Swinti. A change from Kazakhstan bringing on Kit Bay. No would be happy just to tie this up unless and there goes the buzzer. the end of the second period. What a period indeed. We saw that great goal from Kazakhstan there from Barkov and then of course Pison with Norway second. Norway showing why they’ve been in the top of the game for such a long time. They might have fallen a little bit, but they’re ready to regain their status and get back to the Parolympics. Interesting stuff. We will be back in 40 minutes and we’ll see you then. There you Come on. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Heat. Heat. Ready? I say Ladies and gentlemen, And welcome back to our coverage here in Yesheim. It’s been a great game so far. Really surprising game. You would not think this would be the score line earlier on, but here we have it. Norway 2, Kazakhstan one as we enter the fifth period. Kazakhstan and potential to cause such an upset here. Nor know that this is one of their most one of the must-win games. Nothing but the full three points will be right for Norway as the refs gather center their fist bumps. I think everyone here is ready for the action that’s about to unfold and it’s really exciting as well. Here we go. Bakanov versus Oyf for the faceoff. One more period to go in this game and what will change? Of tries to clear into the zone, but Dex time will get it. Shooting it right deep causing the icing. Not a good plan to give up the ice straight away. Causing that face off in your own zone. What do I know? I’m just sat here talking, not playing. Dexelton Shmanov will try to send the puck around the boards. Ted by doesn’t quite get it now. Of has a chance here. Pass it to the off hand. No goal. Save by number 20 Bmanov. Cat in the Zumba backa just wrestling against those two Kazak jerseys. Person with a puck. Only scored once this game shot just over the bar. Hammet trying to keep the puck under Noi’s possession. No way to outlet pass two though. Pison Croberg just sending it across the ice again. Hamler Lingra to Pison. Edison just having the space to skate. Finding his lane passing it to Nord Stugger. doesn’t quite keep hold of it though. Shmanov send it around the boards. Patterson though picking it up. Sending it back. And here we have Kazakhstan with possession of the puck. Skate looks to neutralize. Unfortunately for them though, Baka intercepts. Great save from Bonov. But there’s more Norwegians here. Pison now with a puck looking for a lane. Shooting just over again. Back into Pisonenko. hammer at the ball and just get a bit of a nudge from these two Kazak players. Sber or Of with an opportunity doesn’t quite meet it though and back Sultan will chase it into the Norwegian zone. Let’s go back and we’ll fight him off. Shanov clearing it across the ice. Tucked up by Norwegians re-enter the zone. So much pressure on the Kazak team. Mo keep finding ways to get back in the zone. Soulberg passing up to Vanes. Tucked up by cle out the zone along the boards. But too many men call on Norway. Bit of a messy change. Too many players on the ice. And there’ll be a bench minor penalty. Kazakhstan with the power play as number 27. Oh no, I think they changed their minds. Number 26 Kroberg is saving it for Norway. This is great news for Kazakhstan. Great opportunity to make a difference here. Can they cause an upset? And this would be an upset. Norway have a long pedigree in this sport. Kazan entered the sport a couple years ago. Shmanov shot over. No one at the blue line to keep it in the zone though. Carv doesn’t manage it. Norwegians managed to get it up the ice with possession now. Hamlet Kazakhstan really need to clear the zone and and make make an attack of their own. Time is ticking for Kazakhstan to make use of this power play. 20 seconds left. clear at the zone. Beexelton looking for something to pass up to. Crombick re-enters the ice. Basmanov will cover the puck. potentially could have played that but opts to cover it instead. No, no way. Back to full strength. Lingra on a face off dart. backer shot and it’s in. It looks like Quick Shank might have got a tip on it, but we’ll see Norway go ahead. Three to one. Kazakhstan have favor to climb if they want to cause an upset. Rocking on. This is for the faceoff. And it gives Nory a bit of breathing space as well. One goal leads can often change hands. To get another goal in there, give yourselves a bit of a cushion. It will now be a face off in a Norwegian zone. Rocknov is yet again and it’s easily cleared by Norway. So is chasing it down there for the puck. Is scores. Simple stuff from OSF. Lifting the puck over the goalie, extending Norway’s lead to four of one. There’s some dancing fans in the stands right now. Some very happy Norwegians in the building. Kroberg makes a shot save, but he still has the puck. Lingro just the side of the net. Stan’s thinking that went in. Buranka here just trying to put it onto the Norwegian net again. And feisty stuff here and there’ll be a penalty for roughing and holding. Who’s going in? I look like we’re going to four on four here. Crook Shank getting what I think it will be a hauling penalty with Tukv getting the roughing call. Or maybe the other way around. No, no, that was it. We love bit of four and four hockey. So, we’ll see a bit more space open up on the rink. Can Kstan do something different with the space generated here or is this chapter already written? Norway going to seal seal the deal. Patterson is replacing Vanos in the faceoff. Backer clears the zone. Van is racing hard, but Shmanov is also going to race as hard. Ice and cold off. Good work there from Vanes. Another scrum at the boards now. This is exactly what led to these penalties that are currently being served. Zaka hand pass. We’ll see the face off move. OSF. This is up. dumping the puck in as Lingor chases. Beex time will try to clear it. Send it along the B the boardso play stick link with a shot. I think the goalie almost fumbled into his own net. Great stop by Bas Basminov though. Still in the Kazak zone. Oyf with the puck. No strogger with a shot hits the sled of one of the Kazak players though. Noga. Kazak. I say and there’s 16 seconds left on this four on four Kazan clear the puck from the zone as both Krook Shank and Tokar enter the ice quick shank out of the box with possession Vatner I’m not sure if that was off the sled or the cage of the that Bit of confusion for the Kadaks. They somehow have the wrong players on the ice. I’m not quite sure they know. There’s a bit of confusion here. on the icing call. Who is out? Who is not? Got the right players back on the ice though. So we will take the face off. Bish is crook shank. Beexelton can’t clear it. Still in the Kazak zone. Tab. We’ll just try and clear it, but Scbecken picks it up. Quick shank and it’s gloved down by Basman of the Kazak goal keeper. 3 minutes 45 remaining. Seen great stuff here from these teams. Lingo and we see Patterson Monko passing up to K by offside and Pison now has face. Shot with a left hand saved by the goalie. Hand pass. Reset is going to be called. Oyster against Carb. Shmanov is going to be in the race against Vaness. Vaness has that speed. Beexual turn. No offside called there. It was really close. The will chase after the puck, but back will just take possession. Norwegian goalie let that puck go for quite a while but when it seemed like no one was going to take it he covered it up. We will see though the face off to his right. 2 minutes 23 left. Kazan struggling to keep any possession of the puck shut down whenever they try to enter the Norwegian zone. pass up the ice. It’s quick by again it goes loose to score and it’s all dumps it into the zone. Vatner is chasing it. Beexton will try to circa back surrounded by the four Kazak jerseys there. Lord Stoga keeps it in. Excellent turn passing t by comes out the zone. So noi need to come back out to re-enter Hamler. by final seconds of this game. Mil Stoga will just carry the puck to safety as the crowd here cheer the fulltime buzzer. That is the second win for Norway in this competition. Second win in a row in front of this crowd as well. Norway will celebrate this, but Kazakhstan held them close for a lot of this game. Only really separating from them in this third period. Really good work. Kazakhstan, like we said, they’re the underdogs in this competition. They’ve never been to a parolympics. They’ve never existed as a team for a full cycle. So to see them succeed would be the ultimate underdog story and it’s doing so well. Especially the short bench. They’ve really cemented their spot as a Bour team. The standard of play has been really incredible. But no way. I think we’re going to see some exciting games between them and the other teams. Norwegian Hockey Association and we have the Norwegian president of ice of the Norwegian ice hockey association here give out the best player awards. And uh a bit of a special moment here. Morton Vanas earning 100 appearances for his country back in Buffalo, I believe. So this is a little so many Norwegian. So awarded with his trophy, but also an MVP award from his association. Really good stuff. It’s good to see these athletes recognized for their longevity in the sport. 100 appearances for your country is incredible. I’m sure we’ll see more from Morton in this tournament as well. starting with our guest. So we have best player awards up next and for Kazakhstan. Basmanov winning best player award and welld deserved. We faced quite a few shots especially early on in the game and uh he withtood the pressure from the Norwegian offense. Norway and for Norway number 69 Fabian Crookshank. And what a game he had as well scoring a goal. Great work from the Norwegian team. I’m really excited to bring yet another day of hockey tomorrow. Of course, we have Slovakia taking on Sweden. Slovakia will they’ll want to build back up winning that game after losing today. We’ll see Kazakhstan take on Japan. Japan looking impressive in this tournament as well. Can we see Kazakhstan finally with an upset? And then last thing in the evening could be the deciding game in this whole championship. But Korea, this is Norway. But we’ll take a short break here for the national anthem of Norway. It’s team Norway for their back-to- back wins in front of a home crowd as well. I know just how much it means to have the crowd supporting you and that’s part of the reasons why they want to host this event. So, great work Norway. Like I said, we got three great games tomorrow. I’m really excited for the Norway Korea game. That could be the game that decides who goes to the Parolympics. Like I said, every single one of these games could be that game though. What an exciting tournament. I love this competitive hockey that we’re seeing. I’m going to say good night and we’ll see you tomorrow for three more games here from Yesim. See you tomorrow.
