Let’s bring you some breaking news that has come to us in the last minute or so from Buckingham Palace. His Majesty the King has today initiated a formal process to remove the style, titles, and honors of Prince Andrew. This statement coming into us in the last 10 or so seconds from Buckingham Palace. I’m going to read to you exactly what this statement says. Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatton Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has to date provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These sensors are deemed necessary not withstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him. Their majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been and will remain with the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.
イギリス王室は30日、国王チャールズ3世の弟、アンドリュー王子が「王子」の称号を失い、ロンドン近郊ウィンザー城の敷地内にある王家の公邸「ロイヤル・ロッジ」の住まいを離れることになると発表した。
王室の発表を、BBCニュースは30日午後7時過ぎに速報した。
アンドリュー氏は今後は「アンドリュー・マウントバッテン・ウィンザー」として知られることになる。
アンドリュー氏は今後、イングランド東岸サンドリンガムの王邸敷地内にあり、チャールズ国王が私費で維持しているとされる住居に移ることになるとみられる。
王室によると、アンドリュー氏はロイヤル・ロッジ退去に同意したという。また、自分の称号を剥奪（はくだつ）するという兄チャールズ国王の決定には、異議を唱えなかったとされている。
アンドリュー氏は今月、児童性的虐待で有罪判決を受けた米資産家ジェフリー・エプスティーン元被告（故人）との関係など、私生活に関するさまざまな疑惑が改めて浮き彫りになった事態を受け、「ヨーク公爵」を含むその他の称号を放棄していた。
アンドリュー氏は一貫してすべての不正行為を否定している。
