Hey guys, it’s Yuka! Today I’m reporting from the sacred land of salarymen, Shimbashi Station! It’s raining, unfortunately… But I’m a total rain girl, so I’m used to it. Wow, this bar district is so lively! Every place looks so tempting—I could easily get pulled in. But I’m resisting the temptation and hurrying on. You know that pain of holding back from drinking in Shimbashi? If you can relate, I totally feel you. ※Seriously, this is tough restraint. Right across this crosswalk is today’s destination. Tonight I’m staying at a place that costs just about $27 a night, and it’s gone viral for its crazy free perks! They call it Japan’s most luxurious capsule hotel. It’s my first time staying here, so I’m super excited! Here we are! Tonight’s stay is at “Anshin Oyado Ginza Shiodome.” As it says right here, they’ve got tons of free services. And apparently, you can stay for up to 27 hours! It almost sounds too good to be true… Anyway, let’s dive in and check it out! Past the entrance, there’s a shoe locker just like at a big public bath. Check-in seems to be self-service using this machine. Perfect system for socially awkward folks like me. I managed to get my room key safely. My room’s on the 6th floor, so let’s head up by elevator. The whole vibe feels really nice. It’s kinda like being on vacation in Bali. There are lockers inside too, so even if you come with big luggage, you’re totally fine. Alright, let’s head to the capsule floor! You can unlock the door by tapping your key on the sensor beside it. Rows of double-decker capsules stretch out in front of me, each with its own room number. Such a unique atmosphere. I got a lower capsule this time, so I kinda have to dive in to get inside. First, let’s turn on the lights… Wait… I can’t find the switch… Is it… not even on? At first, I was lowkey losing hope. ※Finally found it after like 15 minutes lol Here’s what the room looks like— pretty standard for a capsule hotel, nothing unusual. It’s not a private room, so talking’s not allowed. Let’s quietly start the room tour. Alright, let’s start with this. There’s a TV mounted on the wall, and you can listen through the headphones next to it. Capsule 609 is mine. When I’m sleepy, I just snuggle under the blanket, turn on the air system, and let it clean out the weird air in here. There’s a little control panel on the wall where you can adjust the lighting and even set an alarm. And of course, the capsule must-have— earplugs! There’s also an outlet and a USB port by the pillow. Super handy, honestly. Here’s how the room divider looks— it’s like a roll-up curtain, and the material keeps people from seeing inside much. They’ve also got proper pillows and comforters, so honestly it’s more than enough just for sleeping. ※Well, as long as I can lie down, I’m good. GORON mode on. I’ve been holding back since the opening, but I’m starving to the point of going feral. So it’s time to devour all those free services! Kinda craving ramen right now… Though I doubt they have that here. Anyway, let’s go check it out. Check-in was on the 1st floor, and the lockers are on the 2nd floor. Capsule rooms go up to the 7th floor, and apparently there’s even a big bath on the 8th floor. Now we’re heading to the 9th floor free lounge! As soon as the elevator doors open, a wall of manga greets you. With this many books, no one’s gonna complain. The free lounge has tables and sofas, and it’s open 24 hours a day! Free service No.1 — Drink bar! I’m glad it’s Coca-Cola, not Pepsi. No.2 — Miso soup bar! Might as well grab a bowl while I’m here. No.3 — The food corner! Right now, they’ve got all-you-can-eat “yonaki” ramen and ochazuke! And best of all—the alcohol corner. You can have up to five drinks for free! I’m honestly tempted to move my residency here. But… I’m on a no-alcohol streak right now… Wouldn’t be very “cultured” of me to get drunk on shared booze. Even if someone pressures me, I’ll resist! Actually, there are still more free perks! Like this popcorn corner! I’ve always wanted to work at a movie theater, so this is seriously getting me hyped! When I order caramel popcorn and get a bunch of big clusters, I feel like the happiest person alive. And this mysterious machine? It’s a fully automatic pancake maker! Honestly, every household needs one of these dream gadgets. They’re using maple syrup instead of honey—how generous! Let’s pour it on and dig in. Oh no… there are way too many free things. I’ll probably gain like 4 pounds before I leave. ※Wait… alcohol? But I’m supposed to be sober?! No, no, hold on… this isn’t what it looks like… Let’s just say—plum wine hits different during sobriety. So yeah, I had just one glass. Homemade pancakes by yours truly. Let’s see how they taste. Way better than I imagined… this is dangerously good. Before I start crying from hunger in the middle of the night, I should probably try that “yonaki” ramen too. It looks like it’s self-serve as well. ※Believe it or not, I’m actually pretty good at making ramen. ※I’ve studied ramen shops enough to feel confident about this. ※Mr. Noodle Drainer reporting for duty. ※Topped it with menma, corn, and seaweed. ※If I can also make ochazuke, that’d be perfection. Got my “yonaki” ramen ready! It looks amazing. The toppings are super fancy, and I’m sure the noodles are cooked perfectly. Alright, taste test time! So good… Ramen when you’re starving is basically a drug. How is this free when plastic bags cost money?! That’s what I’m thinking while slurping noodles. ※Honestly, this is so good I’d pay for it. It’s so tasty I ended up doing a little “Yum Yum Dance.” ※Accidentally made eye contact with an old lady—awkward. ※Too embarrassed, so I downed my plum wine. And here’s the free ochazuke! Let’s see how it tastes. Hot… but delicious! It pairs perfectly with plum wine—definitely refill-worthy. ※Having this 24/7 is honestly insane. Oh, I forgot to mention— this hotel is actually women-only! So if you’re a girl looking for a cheap place to stay in Tokyo, I totally recommend this place! For all the disappointed guys out there—don’t worry! They’ve got men’s locations in the same chain too, so you can totally feast there to your heart’s content. And I think the men’s version is actually even cheaper? Anyway, yes—I’m casually toasting with my second drink. But really, I recommend this place to literally everyone. Go look it up, you won’t regret it. ※Apparently they’ve got branches in Shinjuku, Akihabara, Shimbashi, and Nagoya! That was delicious. I’m absolutely stuffed. I turned the camera off and just kept eating nonstop. ※The free food service was way too satisfying. Now that I’m full, I headed straight for the massage chair area next door. Walking in the rain really wore me out, so I’ll recharge right here for a bit. That awkward moment before the chair fully reclines, right? I wish it would just go *bam* and drop instantly. Okay, it’s moving kinda weird… but hey, the fact that this massage chair is free is awesome. I looked it up out of curiosity, and the price was about the same as a used kei van—insane! So yeah, I’ll give up that dream quietly. Alright, time to freshen up in the big bath! Bye for now! I clearly overate today, so I’ll do a little workout on the cycling machine. Wow, this is actually tiring! I have zero confidence in pedaling fast, so I’ll just speed up the footage in editing to burn extra calories. After the bath, they even have free popsicles—so nice! I’ll eat this and then head back to my room. I’m back in my room! No makeup now. The bath was actually really spacious, kind of like a jacuzzi—super relaxing. I’ve stayed at lots of budget hotels, but honestly, this one has the best service so far. *applause* The loungewear I borrowed from the front desk is loose and comfy, feels really nice to wear. Yay! It’s this spicy chorizo sausage they sell at FamilyMart. That’s what I came for! Anyway, I’m back now— time for the free breakfast service. Apparently, they’ve got two kinds of curry you can eat as much as you want. That’s just amazing. That’s right! I wanted to top my curry with chorizo. I’ve been planning this since last night. Alright, let’s see how it tastes. ※Oh my gosh, this is insane…!! It’s so good—total winner! This would probably cost about $13 at CoCo Ichibanya, but here it’s all-you-can-eat for free? When you think about it again, getting this much for this price is just broken. It’s like a reverse rip-off—too generous! You’d think it’d be packed because it’s so cheap… but actually, it’s not crowded at all. You could probably just walk in and stay. It’s kinda a hidden gem, honestly. Wi-Fi worked perfectly inside the capsule, and it was surprisingly quiet too. If you’re fine with capsule hotels in general, this place is definitely a solid win. I was gonna make a spicy review like the chorizo itself, but looks like I’ll be coming back here again instead. ※Tried to review curry but failed miserably. I finished it in no time, but… should I go for another round of curry? For my second bowl, I went with vegetable curry. It’s rich and thick, not watery at all, so it’s really satisfying. That’s another high score from me. But wow, Shimbashi really has the best location. I can’t forget the sparkle of that bar district last night.
