【トルコ旅行vlog】ツアーなしで巡る、カッパドキア観光🇹🇷|3days in Cappadocia

I went to Cappadocia, Turkey, in June. The sights and experiences were so breathtaking, I’d like to share some of them with you today. We started our day sightseeing in Avanos, a town north of Göreme. Long known as a pottery town, Avanos continues to produce beautiful ceramics. There’s more pottery than I’ve ever seen, so even just walking around the town is a lot of fun. The nazar boncü is a charm. Its blue eye protects against the evil eye. Even these tiny pieces are handmade. It’s truly amazing. This shop has a very unique exterior. There were many intricately crafted ceramics, but I was particularly impressed by this room. The sparkling ceramics. They were coated with phosphorescent paint, which made them glow even more in the light, and they showed me. They were absolutely dazzling! This is the room for the luxury pieces. Apparently, they cost an incredible amount, but the colorful and charming space is sure to inspire your desire for more. They also had a lot of reasonably priced, beautiful items for sale. ♥ As I was leaving, a young man from the shop even gave me a free lesson in pottery! I was amazed at how gracefully he sculpted the shapes. Apparently, the river that runs through town carries red clay, which is linked to the local traditions. Thanks to my wonderful teacher, I was able to create a beautiful piece. At the shop next door, a craftsman showed me how to paint a pattern. He said it was simple, but the intricate work was captivating. I wondered how long it must take to do all this by hand. Next, we returned to Göreme, the city center, to eat the famous pot kebab. The bus departed with the door still open. 😅 Is this normal in Turkey? Turkish cuisine is said to be one of the world’s three great cuisines, and I was surprised at how delicious it was. The long-awaited pot kebab arrived. Even the bowl was made of real ceramic! The pot was packed with meat! Turkey is famous for lamb, but this time we tried beef kebab. It was stewed until tender, like oxtail soup, and incredibly delicious. This was a skewered shish kebab. By the way, kebab is a general term for grilled meat and vegetables. Thank you for the meal! I’m heading back to the hotel now, but my cave hotel was really great, so I recommend it! Arrived at the hotel! There’s a courtyard on the premises, where you can relax on benches. Staying in a cave hotel was one of my highlights in Cappadocia, so I spent a lot of time choosing a hotel. It had a large bathroom and a shower in the back room. The main reason I chose this hotel was because it has the highest terrace in Göreme and only 10 rooms, so I thought I’d be able to enjoy a leisurely morning balloon ride. I’m taking a hot air balloon tour early tomorrow, so I’ll relax on the hotel terrace and watch the sunset before going to bed! I could even see Uchisar. Good night. It looks like the hot air balloon flight is going well, so let’s get going! Buffet-style snacks are also included. I booked the first flight to enjoy the sunrise. While you can book a cheaper tour, it’s possible that the capacity may be high or that a second flight may occur after sunrise. It’s best to book with a reputable company in advance. It’s cold outside at dawn, so it’s a good idea to dress lightly. After boarding the balloon, the flames from the burner warmed me up a little! Finally, we were off. I was nervous about my first hot air balloon ride. I sat on the edge of the basket, which made it easy to enjoy the scenery. The 20-person capacity allowed for a relaxing atmosphere. The balloon rose steadily upward. Hot air ballooning in Cappadocia is the world’s largest hot air balloon ride, with approximately 4,000 passengers and over 160 balloons taking to the skies on this day. While ballooning in Cappadocia is famous as a once-in-a-lifetime scenic experience, the experience of viewing the enormous rock formations and valleys at sunrise was truly exceptional. I was hesitant to take a hot air balloon ride because I thought the view from the ground would be satisfying enough, but the experience was truly breathtaking. I’m so glad I decided to go. The breathtaking scenery changes constantly, and the hour-long hot air balloon ride ends in the blink of an eye. We finish with a champagne ceremony. We toast in Turkish, şerefe! After returning to the accommodation for a short nap, we head to breakfast at the hotel. After that, we head to Uçhisar! While it’s customary to take a tour in Cappadocia, this time we didn’t, and just went wherever we wanted. It’s a 10-minute walk from the bus stop to Uçhisar Castle. Arrived! Apparently, Uçhisar means “pointed fortress” in Turkish. Apparently, it once housed over 1,000 people and served as a defense facility. Though it’s called a castle, it’s actually a massive cave fortress with hundreds of rooms and tunnels carved into it. Just walking through this maze-like space allows you to imagine what it must have been like back then and gives you a sense of adventure. It’s the tallest rock formation in Cappadocia, and you can climb to the top. While the strange rock formations are clearly visible, the view was just average. 100% freshly squeezed orange juice is sold in many places in Turkey. They don’t pre-make it, they squeeze it right there until it’s full. I came here to try authentic Turkish coffee. While watching the brewing process, they let me try it! The sand was heavy, making it harder than I’d imagined to keep a steady speed… Experienced techniques really make a difference. Finally, pour it into a cup and it’s ready! Here it is, my first Turkish coffee! Hmm… not very tasty… I later learned that Turkish coffee takes time for the crushed beans to settle, so the correct way to drink it is to wait a little before drinking. Back in Göreme, I did a little sightseeing. Cats were everywhere in the city. Just looking at the alleys was a joy. I was heading to dinner, and the restaurant I visited that day was the best. The complimentary hot apple tea, almost entirely apple juice, was delicious. Sauce and bread are often served at the beginning, like an appetizer. It’s so delicious I tend to overeat, but I have to be careful not to get too full. The waiter recommended the Beyti Sarma, which was so delicious I could clearly see why Turkey is considered one of the world’s three great cuisines. The slightly sour yogurt stimulated my appetite, and I devoured it in no time. The waiter also recommended the mushrooms with cheese. Turkey’s dairy products are truly of a high standard. Thank you for the meal! To watch the sunset today, we went to Rose Valley, a famous sunset point. We were dropped off about 30 minutes from our destination. We decided to take a short hike. After about 30 minutes of walking through unparalleled scenery, we arrived at a spot overlooking Rose Valley. Everyone was gathered there enjoying the sunset. This valley was named Rose Valley because the strange rock formations look pink at sunset. We returned to the center of Goreme. Here, we stopped for a traditional Turkish dessert, baklava. The thin, multi-layered pastry was soaked in syrup, and the combination with the pistachios inside was irresistible! It was on the sweet side, so it was just right for two people to share. A photo spot for the lamps. Apparently, Göreme’s night view is also beautiful, so I went to see it. The adhan, a Muslim call to prayer, was playing throughout the city. While there were tourists, most were locals. Cappadocia has so much to see all day, it’s hard to get enough sleep. I could even see Uchisar Castle, which I visited today. I’m going to take a bath and go to bed in preparation for tomorrow’s hotel balloon viewing! Good night. I woke up early again today to watch the hot air balloons from the hotel terrace. The atmosphere was different from when viewed from a balloon, and it was truly magical. Whether the balloons could fly or not depended on the weather, but I was glad I could see them two days in a row. I chose this hotel because it’s a cave hotel and offers a relaxing view of the spectacular scenery. Only hotel guests can use the terrace at this time, and there are only 10 rooms in total, so I was able to enjoy the view at my leisure. It was a view I could look at forever. After breakfast at the hotel, we headed to Paşabag, a World Heritage Site known for its strangely shaped rock formations. Legend has it that these mushroom-shaped rock formations, known as fairy chimneys, are inhabited by fairies. The intricately carved chambers in the rock formations were built during the Roman era as hiding places for Christians deemed heretical to escape persecution. As understanding of Christianity deepened, they were used to deepen their faith. Souvenirs were also sold, but at tourist prices. I didn’t bargain much, so I didn’t buy anything. We returned to Göreme for lunch. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is popular with locals, but it was empty at lunchtime, so we had the whole place to ourselves. I ordered the “Sak Tava,” recommended by the waiter. The ratio of meat to rice was high, but it was delicious, giving it a meatier taste than taco rice. We went to learn how to brew authentic Turkish coffee. Turkish coffee is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The method and tradition are still preserved today. Add the sugar beforehand, not just before drinking, and then add water and bring to a boil. Foam is of utmost importance, and Turkish coffee brewed properly produces a very fine, smooth foam. We had a fun, humorous experience learning about the history and etiquette of Turkish coffee. We headed for a sunset horseback ride. Although it’s called a horseback riding experience, we weren’t inside a fenced area; instead, we were able to walk freely along a rugged path lined with strangely shaped rocks. We navigated a rugged path with cliffs right next to us. As the name suggests, we sometimes took detours. We took a short break here. Cheki, the horse’s guide dog, has been doing this job his whole life. We rested while sipping orange juice. Rock churches built by hidden Christians are everywhere. We stopped here to kill time before sunset, but it was nice to be able to relax and enjoy the spectacular view. We set off again! We headed to a spot with a good view of the sunset. Cappadocia is famous for its hot air balloon rides, but this sunset horseback ride is just as impressive. We spent a luxurious time gazing at the spectacular view and sunset. It was truly a valuable experience. We strolled around the souvenir shops in Goreme. Every shop is filled with cute souvenirs unique to Cappadocia. We went to try manti, a Turkish specialty. I couldn’t forget how delicious the jar kebab I had on the first day was, so I ordered it here as well. The jar kebab here is a mix of 80% lamb and 20% beef. It’s simmered for over three hours. The lamb was also delicious, but it couldn’t beat the jar kebab I had on the first day. We ended our trip with Turkish ice cream, dondurma. The staff’s performance was really fun and left a lasting memory. Cappadocia is a city where you can really feel the warmth of the people. I want to go again.
