the federal government has invoked the emergencies act to supplement provincial and territorial capacity to address the blockades and occupations welcome to the simple podcast I’m Tod C Slater you know when I see that repeat of what the crime Minister did to Canadians um it it still leaves me speechless you know as a Canadian three years ago we watched uh everybody’s rights being taken away and yet they wanted to call you know people that were peaceful Canadians criminals my problem with all of this is that if one prime minister could do that what could the new prime minister do and this is where we need to have a pretty serious conversation today about what our future is going to look like you know again as a Canadian a very proud working Canadian we were taken advantage of by a governing system and today all of a sudden now it’s okay to wave the Canadian flag where three years ago people were saying they were triggered by the Canadian flag I’m insulted as a Canadian that you know that was the the case and has it gotten any better no has there been any true apologies made for that no and yet we’ve got a new prime minister in place and again not elected as far as I’m concerned you know when I take a look at the people that actually were part of the Convoy you know these were people that made the sacrifice to turn around and make a statement for Canadians and you know we can never you know forget what happened to Canadians the fact is is that today our government is now going to control the narrative and could we be possibly be at the mercy now of the new and again I I really struggle calling him a prime minister and I know some of you get pretty upset and say hey Todd you don’t know how the Canadian system works yes I do very well in fact thanks very much for that the truth is is that this guy never faced an election and I know a lot of people sit there and say yeah but you don’t elect the prime minister in Canada don’t kid yourself that’s all a bunch of BS the fact is is that if you want a liberal elected you’re going to vote for the liberal MP in your municipality because you want this guy to be the Prime Minister nobody has done that okay and yet we now hear and this is where the thing that I’m not sure about is that he’s sitting there saying Carney will ask the governor general to dissolve parliament Sunday and call for an election Now isn’t this kind of convenient because Jag meet saying leader of the NDP said that when Parliament resumes which is going to be just so you know Monday so then the next day he was going to call for a non-confidence vote well we know that he’s completely backtracked on that he’s hopped into bad with the Liberals as he always has and so we know he’s backtracking on that so now we’ve got prime minister Mark Carney now declaring to CBC and again if you want to take their word on it that potentially he’s going to call for an election and the election could be April 28th May 2nd whatever the date’s going to be the truth is he’s going to try to say that he’s going to call the election but here’s a couple things I think we need to think about what else could he do on the runup to the election day let’s take a look and something that my government is going to do is to use all of the powers of the federal government including the emergency Powers whoa did he just say what I think he said including the emergency powers so what does that mean emergency Powers gee who did that that’s right Justin trudo did and so what would that mean to an election well here’s the other thing why would he turn around and put the emergency act into place well let’s take a look the one thing that we’re pretty sure is Trump is not screwing around he’s still going to hit us with some tariffs okay tariffs are part of business let’s get over it Canada has tariffs on us us has tariffs on Canada hey China just nailed Canada with 100% tariffs on things like seafood canola oil like it’s the world happening so when this gets said what do we think is going to happen after April 2nd when it comes into play could Mark Carney turn around and declare a state of emergency in Canada oh I don’t know financially yeah might he might consider us under the attack of the US and turn around and make a declaration so I hate having to make this prediction but the guy that’s leading Canada right now I would not trust at all and that’s one of the things that as Canadians we almost become powerless other than our voice but let’s think about this if Carney turns around and pulls the emergency lever that means that we will not be having an election and really the soonest that we could have an election potentially would be in 2026 so he could bypass the whole November uh before and in the end we could get stuck with this guy for a lot longer and creating a lot more damage why would Carney actually decide to call an election now does he think he’s that popular um I don’t know maybe he’s uh really thrilled that Donald Trump said he’d rather work with the Liberals I don’t know but you know it’s one of those things that we’re going to watch very carefully and I think you should too I don’t know as a Canadian where this is going to go I know where we don’t want it to go and that’s having this guy as the leader of the country it’s only going to be bad for Canadians hardworking taxpaying you know Canadian families this guy is not going to be our leader and for those of you that sit there and say oh yeah he’s truly a Canadian is he really three passports one in Ireland because you know what that’s a good tax advantage there one in Great Britain and one in Canada ask yourself this how much time has Mark Carney actually spent in Canada over the last decade not as much as you think but I can tell you his carbon footprint sure tells us everything and he’s been all over the world and constantly doing it so for a guy that’s so concerned about the carbon footprint of people hey Mark you know what they came up with especially during covid it’s called Zoom you know what you don’t have to hop on a jet to have a meeting with people perhaps perhaps you might want to take some of your own initiative and apply it to yourself and your family instead of running around the world trying to sit there and act like a martyr and think that you’re doing something for Canadians when you’re only making it about yourself I think the calling of an election is just that he’s making it about himself so that if he has to he’s going to pull that lever and screw Canadians once again I’d love to hear
