DEXTER SEASON 2 Episode 9, 10, 11, & 12 REACTION! Michael C. Hall | Doakes | Dexter Resurrection
Thank you to Liquid IV for sponsoring
this video. More on them in just a bit. Citizens of the Reject Nation, surprise, surprise.
We are back. We got another four episodes to do here for the finale here of season two of
Dexter. The show that we are enjoying so much. Enjoying so much that I can’t pronounce anything
correctly. Oh no. And that’s what I do here, right, John? Ice cream truck. blood splatter and
stuff like that. Yeah. Anyways, I am with the true serial killer on this show, I guess. So, I am with
my host John Bang Humphrey and I am Andrew Flag Gordon. Yeah. And like I said, we got episodes 9,
10, 11, and 12 to do here of season 2. We’re going to finish it off with a bang and a flash. Hey,
let’s go. Anyways, Donald, how are you doing, my friend? Doing well. I’m doing well. That was
my subtle tribute to Horatio Kaine as portrayed by David Caruso on CSI Miami. It’s I’m secretly
hoping for a crossover, too. Uh this it’s been a good day so far. We watched a fun movie earlier.
I’m excited. This is one of my favorite things of the current moment. I’ve been loving Dexter.
I’ve been loving sharing it with you guys. I’ve been loving sharing it with you, Andrew. Uh this
is always a highlight of my week and uh I can’t wait to dive into the yet another, you know, end
cluster of a season. How are you, sir? I am good. Yeah, you’re right. We did react to something
really fun earlier. It’s been a long day, but I love doing this show as well. It’s a lot of fun
with you and with the best audience in the world here at Reject Nation. It’s great. And uh yeah,
I’m excited to see how the chaos ensues here, how we finish off season 2. It’s just I’m I’m really
looking forward to it. But uh anyways, full length reaction where you sync up with your own copy.
We are watching it on Showtime. We’re watching on Showtime via Prime. Via Prime. Thank you. You
seriously the bang to my flash. I appreciate you. and I will give you a 3 2 1 countdown and uh
feel like we’re watching it together. Also too, uh Greg and John exclusively cover many other
TV shows and highlights over there. So yeah, be sure to check that out. And also it’s a very
good way because we are running into a ton of copyright claims. So heading on over there really
helps offset a lot of the monetization issues that we run into with these copyright claims. It’s a
good way to support us. It’s a nice community over there. Keeps the lights on, keeps the host coming
back in. Also, you get some perks over there. You get 15% discount on shirts like these. I don’t
know if you are wearing it. Yes, you are. That’s a great shirt. My Miami pink, my crunchberry.
Good. Yes. Miami bias reject Nationshop.com is where you can find all that merch gear over there.
And to his point, I will say the last Dexter, we had to go through a whole rigomearroll. Or not
the last one as you’re watching this, but the the the the last cluster of season one episodes, uh,
we had to go through a whole thing to get that re reinstated monetarily speaking. So, it really
does help when you guys come on over there if you are so inclined, if you’re interested, if you want
that little extra something. Yeah. And also too, a lot of times we kick off the reviews with
questions that we get from our Royal Rejects. That’s right. Over at our Patreon. And again,
you guys uh basically kick off the review with uh interacting with us. You get the schedule
a little bit ahead of time so you know what we are filming. Then you get to ask us questions.
We will shout you out individually, personally, and then we will answer the question as best
we can. Yeah. So, I think I have spoken long enough. I think we should get right into the
episode. So, we’re going to get right into this, Jonald. Let’s do this thing. Let’s go. Season 2,
episode 9, commencing in a three, two, and a one. Ding. Resistance is futile. That’s what I said.
that I’m always that you were Is that a back issue? Was bad for me. Uhoh. Read the up. I didn’t
realize how bad till last night. Hey, how’s it going? She had me fighting with myself the whole
time. All that self-reflection is unhealthy. Uh, sorry. What is The fact is I already know
who I am and I’m done fighting it. So, the battle’s over. Yla’s over. Morgan, clean
this mess like a dream. God damn safety hazard. Oh. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh, and the missing.
He didn’t have time to clean it up, too, I think. Right. Yeah. Can’t leave the shine around, bro.
Oh, good transition. My subconscious isn’t even bothering with symbolism. That’s what I get for
leaving the remains of Himenez up in that cabin. Bad time to get sloppy with special agent Lundy
putting everyone in law enforcement under a microscope. Uhoh. Dexter, what are you doing
here? Uh oh. Oh no. I was in a fugue state. I walked here. Let me give you that. In the same
closes last night, slept here. Wanted to make sure whoever broke in stayed away. Guess I kind
of fell asleep on the job. No. Dexter. Dexter’s here. Oh. Hey guys. Dexter, I made a kill robot
that eats airplanes. Want to see? Mine’s making pancakes. You want bananas in yours? Oh, snap.
Oh, buddy. Oh, no. Oh, she gave him the No, you guys are something I got to go deal with.
So, then why’d you come? A needed one of these. Putty. You guys are keeping him
human. This show has so much heart. Dexter’s got work to do. to go eat
your pancakes. Add extra bananas for me. Oh boy. I didn’t mean for them to find me
here. It’s okay. I think they needed a hug, too. Oh, you too. I’m sorry. All right.
I feel Oh, what do you feel? Such regret, which is rare for me. I mean, now that I don’t
mess up, I do. Just never so stupendously. I had you and them. I had us. There’s so much to
have. Oh god. Just demolish it. I honestly thought I was smarter than that. Whoa. Rude awakening.
Like that. He’s having at least accountability. Laya is one of the biggest mistakes of my life.
Means a lot to me. Dexter. Doesn’t change the fact you slept with another woman. Yeah. You too.
I just wanted to say it. No, you’re learning from the steps. All I can do now is pick up the pieces
of your Menz. He’s one big pile of evidence. Not that anyone will easily break into that cabin.
Uh Laya still, I can’t leave a kill lying around. I’ll have to call in sick at work. Oh.
Ah crap. Oh. Or that What are you up to? Do No, I’m assuming that’s Lundy sent them, right? Or
Lundy. Yeah, because Lundy like suspected like, “Dude, how did you mess up this up so badly?
You’re not like you’re too good to mess this up so badly.” Oh, is that’s not Yeah, that’s
not dope. I’m not saying it is do FBI. Yeah, my feeble interview with Lundy might have
put me on his short list of suspects. Well, there you go. Peace with Harry’s code again. Makes
decisions easier. First, human later. Hopefully, Llaya or Dos don’t go to that cabin. See,
I thought Do had hired some of his like ex ranger buds or something, but that would
that would make sense. I could see that. No, you’re a better viewer than me. You’re a
bigger fan. I understand. Surprise. Oh, no. To page this person, press now. Page him.
He’s got a beeper. You know what? You James, you disappearing. You know, you didn’t just
stand me up last night. You screwed yourself out of a six figure security job. Damn.
Which means that being a cop is one of the few options you have left. So stop pissing
off the people that can help you. Jesus. Lundy’s people been trying to reach you. They just
want a hand with the Bay Harbor. What’s your case, James? Give it to them. Show Lundy that
you are a team player. I don’t I don’t like this. Where is he going? Pick up when
I call again. I’m going to keep calling. Oh. Oh my goodness. Your right eye is a
little darker than your left eye. And you weigh about 50 lbs. I’m going to have to fatten
you up. Even bother you last night. Oh my. Tell people at work. I’m an above board kind of
guy. And in my history of office romances, sneaking around has never worked. I don’t know.
Yeah, cuz now she’s worried about perception. I just think the timing is bad. Maybe we should
wait until we can control the narrative. Put out a press release. When? What? Something break on
the butcher? I got to go. There’s kiche. Eat it. Lundy’s bees are buzzing. Something’s agitated
the hive. Every look is so meticulous. Like you’re wondering what’s going on. Lundy’s got
a suspect for the Bay Harbor Butcher. And bro, it’s one of us here. Whoa, dude. That’s
disturbing. Oh, this is tense. We’re not sure that Monty’s pegged someone, but if he has,
it sure as hell isn’t one of my people. Sorry, Lieutenant, but I confirmed it myself last night.
Everything points to someone in this house. Oh, boy. I thought Did they not say they wanted to
keep it between them this morning? Cuz Lundy shut this PD out of the task force. Board more
feds in. So, he definitely has someone in his crosshairs. Oh [ __ ] What about Stanbar impound?
Dude’s a freak. I bet it’s W from Records. Chico, please. What about Lauren Narcotics? Or it could
be that murderous Morgan in Blood Spatter. Oh god, we’ve got company. I noticed there and there.
Oh no. Waiting for you. Lundy brought in his own forensic texts. Uggh. What are they looking
for? Think they’d tell me? I’m just the LFI. Lead forensics investigator. Yeah, of course. I’d
like you to walk me through your filing system. I’ll need a breakdown of evidentiary procedure and
protocol. Is there something particular I can help you with? We just need your help navigating
the lamp. If they’re looking for proof, they won’t find it. Not here, at least. I may have
briefly rebelled against Harry, but I learned my lessons. Well, come on, Dex. Tell me. Oh. Um, make
sure they deserve it. This is life or death stuff. It’s that important. Why do you think I pulled
all those strings to arrange this? Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Don’t get caught. And what are all the other
rules for? So, I don’t get caught. That’s right. Abide by the code of Harry. Why are they looking
at us like that? They don’t know why you’re here, why you need to see this. But I want this seared
into your mind, son. Oh, you know what they say, John. Resistance is futile. Oh my
goodness. Oh my god. Wow. Jesus. Jeez. Grim. The chair. The chair. That was a nice
inner cut from watching someone in the chair just saying I need to be in the chair. Yeah,
something’s up with Jack. Something I can’t tell you. Why not? Honestly, you don’t want to
know. Oh god. Oh god. Oh god. Poor Prince. Oh, what are you doing, man? He’s a ghost from
my past. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to find you. I’m in the phone book now. It’s good to
see you, Leon. My father-in-law will be happy. We have a customer with American Doroth. I
need a a discrete lab. A relaxing cruise is better. I’ve got a blood sample. I am not a fixer
anymore. And you are not in black operations. I’m a travel agent and I like it. Yeah. The owners,
I need your help. Oh my god. The slides analyzed and your most expensive tour package of
the islands. Give me the slides. We both get something we want. Are you in trouble? No.
No. But someone else is going to be. Yeah. Damn. Look who’s come out of this cave. Milo, what
are you doing here? Angel mentioned that he needed a decorator and well, that’s what
just came up. So, I gave him a call. Oh, I hate it. She’s not really a decorator. Not
really my apartment that I want decorating. Oh. Oh my god. So, hey, the boys here
have persuaded me to go for a drink. Oh, God. Should I be worried? Maybe you should come
with us because who knows what secrets will come pouring out of me once the drinks start blowing.
I have to get to Menace, but a dead man tells no tales of a woman. They should make a Pirates of
the Caribbean movie with that title. You came to Dexter’s rescue at the bowling alley. You just ran
right towards that mugger. I thought for your own personal safety. That’s my job. Mine too. It is
not. Don’t do it. Is baiting him. That guy. No. I can still look into it. Is long gone by now.
I hate it. What the hell do you want? It’s like a Scooby-Doo colored bathroom. Those friends of
yours out there, they don’t even know you. They just see the mask. But I see it all. I can see how
upset you are. Oh, really? It’s more than just me that’s eating at you. There’s something else. You
don’t have to handle it alone. Oh, I can help. No, I know how heavy that mask is. How tiring.
I’m the only one who can see behind it. And it doesn’t scare me. Can’t live with her. Can’t
kill her. She’s not going away. Good luck, Angel. Oh, he’s about to go ape. Found my slides. Oh
no. Oh no. It’s over. Oh, the dolly room. And the walls are closing in. Yeah. Oh god. Morgan. Oh,
Special Agent Lundy wants to see you. Please come with us. Wait, Lundy didn’t say anything about
this to me. That locked off shot on him. I’m on the [ __ ] task force. I demand to know what Oh
my. Right behind you. They’re calling us in. I’m right behind you guys. Oh golly. Oh, there’s more
of them. Got him. Whoa. Oh my god. I should be panicked, terrified. But Yla was right. The mask
has been heavy. I won’t need it and surrender. I can let it go. Oh my god. The pain will come
when Deb finally understands who her brother really is. Oh no. Wow. What a reflected shot. Oh,
hate it. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. I hate it. What? Holy holy [ __ ] Oh my god. My old friends
here to betray me. Please sit down. Wow. I’m sure that you heard we have a suspect in the Bay Harbor
Butcher case. Put him on. Oh, are they going to make him investigate this? Yeah, I think so. We
need answers now. Open it. Maybe they don’t know whose it is. Explain it to us. Trophies. That’s
what I thought. What happens now? I know this will come as a shock to you, Morgan, but this is a good
fake out. Our primary suspect is someone you know well. Oh [ __ ] What? Sergeant James Dos. What?
What? Do No way. He was the lead case investigator on four of the butcher victims, which put him
on my radar. We look surprised. Turns out his father was a butcher and abusive. Oh, Bay Harbor
Butcher. He’s also a trained assassin in special forces. That along with his on the job shootings
and Oh, that makes sense to think of a excessive force citations. He fits the profile. Yes, he has
a need to dole out personal justice. Yesterday, Dos walked out of an interview and disappeared.
Yeah, that’s right. How he did that? That makes sense. A plane out of the country. Oh my god.
No. His apartment. Oh no. Do no. Oh god. Oh my god. carefully hidden in the trunk of his car
at the airport. It don’t make so much sense. Wow. Everyone else in the precinct was beyond
shocked when I told them. Ooh. What exactly is Sergeant Dos’s problem with you, Morgan? I kill
people for one, but what was it Sergeant Do said about me? Oh, I always sense there was something
off about him. We need you to analyze and match these slides immediately. Me? I’m keeping the
forensics in house. The public needs to see our strengths now. Their trust in us is about
to take a major ass [ __ ] Now I’m making you first forensic tech in the chain of custody with
these slides on his own murders. That’s why Oh my god. This is wild writing. I love it. Yeah, we’ll
get him, Dex. And when you do, my story has to be stronger than his. Don’t worry. I’m going to be
with you every step of the way. Me and this. O, I have an even bigger favor. Name it. Move into
that new apartment of yours. Deb, if you got in the middle of this and you got hurt. Oh, my sister
first and I’m going to worry like a brother, not a coworker. Well, don’t. God damn it. You
don’t have to worry about I can’t help it, my man. Deb, the best thing you can do for
me is to give me and my protective detail a wide birth. A I love the way she kisses. I
hate it. A hugger back. Hug her back, man. One less pair of eyes to worry about. Yeah,
exactly. You know I didn’t do this. You know me, Maria. That’s not me. Yeah, but they don’t. What
do they have on me? They found something in your car. Oh [ __ ] Look, the next time you see me,
there’ll be no doubt. Until then, you won’t be able to contact me. Don’t you disappear on me,
James. Maria, I have to do this. God damn it. I just want you to know that you you meant
a lot to me. more than you know. And Oh, buddy. I just want to thank you for that. Oh,
buddy. Looks like I won’t find any prints or DNA on this box. I can chalk it up to how careful Do
is. Harry had strict rules about not hurting the innocent. And for all his fury, Dos is innocent.
Oh, that delivery. But there’s also the number one rule. Don’t get caught. Can’t compromise that.
Got to stick to the code of Harry. Mr. Morgan, special agent. We thought you might
need our help. Please come in. Oh, Christ. Don’t let anyone in or out of the lab.
And don’t let the incubator dip below 37 C. And please don’t touch anything. You understand? Jeez.
Are you pissed at something about Laya and me? Oh, I don’t want to get in between us. If you
still want her. God, no. Yla’s insane. She’s destructive. A naturally occurring disaster. So,
you don’t mind if I go for it? No. Have at it, bro. Ly is just using you to get at me. And so
what? First it was a divorce. Then getting stabbed was no picnic. Now this thing with doses. Dark
days, my friend. Too dark. Dark days. Got to stay positive here. Angel just doesn’t get it. There’s
no solution. She’s a problem. A problem. You giving Do the press? Do is wanted for questioning
and that’s what my press release says. It’ll still destroy him. He’s doing a fine job of destroying
himself without my help. He is not your man. He is however my prime suspect. He may be your exartner.
He may be your best friend. What he is to me is a suspect. So you deal with that however you need
to and you will give me your complete cooperation or you may find yourself out of a job. Jeez.
Damn. Oh boy. Oh boy. Oh. Intense Lindy. Yeah. It’s probably best I move on. But the kids were
so happy to see you yesterday. I wasn’t unhappy. A good, right? This is an interesting way to have
a private conversation. Is it over with Yla? Yes, absolutely. Completely over. If I never see
her again, it’ll be too soon. Oh, sorry. I have feelings for you. Oh,
I have feelings for you, too. Fight them anymore. Oh, boy. I think we should
get together and talk tonight. Oh god, that would be great. Really great. But tonight, it’s a bad
idea. Uh, we’ve got a big break in the Bay Harbor Butcher case that things are kind of intense
around here. Oh, wow. Did they catch him? Well, someone’s going to go down for it tomorrow. Would
be really great. I’m so worried what Laya’s going to do to her. Kidnap her, torture her. I’m just
I’m so scared, John. She going to burn her house down. I hate this. I don’t know. kidnap the kids.
I I don’t know. We’re getting together tomorrow. Communication’s the key. My man. Fortunately, a
car isn’t the only way to reach the Everglades. My new marina is only a 20minute walk. You going
to take the boat? Oh, Christ. I’m on my way. You don’t need Oh, golly. I don’t like it. I don’t
like it. I’m worried about this. You got to talk to Lundy about what? Get him to hold off on
putting Dos on the news. Maybe you should talk to Lendy. I tried. You’re one of us. Do is one of
us. He deserves the benefit of the doubt. Look, Lieutenant, I know he’s your friend and
we’re all pretty [ __ ] up about this, but it is Lundy’s ball game. Oh, boy. You’re his
right hand. Bright hand. Just say it. [ __ ] the euphemisms. And okay, I may be sleeping with
him. Bro. Bro, you’re sleeping with London? Oh, no. sleeping at your place again tonight.
Oh my. Just one more trip ahead of schedule. That’s right, mother. It’s over. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa.
Surprise once again. How’d you find me? GPS tap on your boat. No. Jesus Christ, Morgan. Jesus
[ __ ] Christ. You’re the Bay Harbor Butcher. Wow. Jesus Christ, man. Man, you said that. I
always knew there was something with you. Yes, this [ __ ] Please tell me this is a dream
sequence or my buddies thought I was crazy for becoming a cop. I had skills. I could have written
my own ticket. All right, it’s not. And lately, I thought they might have been right, but this
this makes it all worth it. Oh my god, dude. Oh my god. Slow down. Whoa.
Whoa, dude. Oh my god. No. Ow. Is he going to kill dogs? He’s innocent.
You can’t, right? Code of hair. He shouldn’t get him on the leg. Oh. Oh my. If he gets Oh, you’re going to have
to kill me, Morgan. Have to [ __ ] kill me, Morgan. Wow. Is this where this episode
ends? No way. Oh my god. This was crazy. Wow. Surprise. Wow. All right, that was
episode nine of season 2. We’re not going to make you wait in suspense. We’re just going to
get right into episode 10 right about now. There’s something about hair. What is that in reference
to? He’s going to do his hair up with blood. Hey, is it deep? Oh, I hope it’s [ __ ] deep.
Surprise. Gray’s wounded by her tissue abrasion. No hemorrhage along the bullet
track. Sorry. I think I’m going to live. Am I? You’re not going to let me go, Morgan,
and kill me now. Just get it over with. God, I adise you not to tempt me just now. Wow. You’re
a killer. I catch killers. So do I. I caught you. I’m not a killer. You killed a couple people. You
are. That’s why you’ve always known what I am. That’s why you have more officer related shootings
than anybody else. Oh, only I don’t [ __ ] with you when you shoot somebody. Why couldn’t you pay
me the same professional courtesy? There’s nothing professional about what you do. He’s got a good
point. I kill when I have to on the job. That’s what he’s doing. The city pays me to keep the
law. Oh boy. My code requires a higher standard of proof than your city’s laws. It’s a zero cost
for the taxpayer. You ask me, I’m a bargain. Oh, my man. Oh, boy. This is a great interaction.
What’s it going to be, Morgan? Earth versus me. What’s it going to be? Kill me now. Set me free.
Oh, my subpoena for Dope’s phone records came through. He isn’t much of a talker. Not a lot of
friends, I’m guessing. Except for one. Check this out. Oh, no. That’s Lieutenant’s phone number.
And look at the time and date. Ooh. But right after we launched the mana, we could have traced
that call. Oh [ __ ] Sergeant Dos wouldn’t have stayed on long enough. Like wherea should have
given us the chance. You’re going to ream her, aren’t you? Oh no. Deb going to be there when
you do it. It’s kind of a hobby. Deb, you can re yourself. Oh yeah, I totally forgot in season one.
She was so mean to her. I totally forgot about that. Seriously though, that would just get me in
deeper [ __ ] with her. And the Gord already hates me. You know, I’m not always going to be around to
run interference. Oh. Oh my god. Don’t Don’t throw foreshadow on me now. Oh, come on. You got at
least five 10 good years left in you. Why did they have to say that line? I mean, I won’t be around
once this case ends. So, a reming will be good practice for you after I’m gone. Oh [ __ ] Taking
a life is one thing, but the care and feeding of it is another. I can’t keep my problem locked away
in a cabin forever. No. Yeah. The situation got a lot more complicated. They always said there
were plenty of people who deserve to die. But no matter how hard I close my eyes and wish Do
isn’t one of them. Yeah, it’s been a long night. You never prepared me for this one. Yeah, what
do I do? Come on. There’s something about Harry. Let’s go. Get a description of my nest patrol
unit in the city and wake up Judge Mhouse. I need a warrant. I thought that was Randy Quay.
You get that right. Whoa. Get back inside the car like I told you. This is crazy to see them.
That was a Oh my god. Guy who did this is an evil bastard. You know who it was? Oh yeah. I’ve been
trying to nail him for a while. Pip named Juan Res. She was one of his girls. She was dumped.
Right. Nail your ass. Get back in the trunk. His hair kind of reminds me of Ben Stiller. And
there’s Something about Mary. You for real? You got to visit her. Surprise, mother. Laya Rita
coffee. Yeah, why not? Oh, he’s smiling at him. Sergeant Dos is the Bay Harbor Butcher. That’s
what they’re saying. Oh, boy. Why is the FBI guarding your building? Oh, you know the federal
government any excuse to spend money. Jeez, how are the kids? We add that to the intro to the
title sequence. They asked about you again. We’ve been pretty confused since we split up. Yeah,
me too. Are you still confused? I’m generally confused most of the time. Same, bro. Not about
us, dude. No. Oh. Oh. Oh [ __ ] The kids have been through so much lately with death and my
mom moving out. Oh, play a psycho woman doesn’t do anything to them. You don’t want them to feel
like they’ve been abandoned by everyone they love. Oh, is that blood on his shirt right there?
No, I think it’s the I was wondering that, too. I think it’s the part of the shirt. Yeah.
Yeah, it’s where the button’s sewn on. You’re right. You’re right. That would be kind of fast,
wouldn’t it? You’re so important to them, and they need you. I don’t know. Oh, boy. Take your time.
Maybe we could just hang. Yeah, date again. Like a sloth. I can do that. I’ve been selfish, only
thinking about what happens to me. But if I were ever revealed as the true Bay Harbor Butcher,
Rita and her children would be destroyed. Oh, buddy. I I love that he cares about others like
that. You didn’t report the call from Dos. Your task force doesn’t need my help railroading a good
cop. Woof. Do was officially a person of interest. Not reporting that call could be considered aiding
in a better. None of you wanted to hear what he had to say, so I didn’t tell you. Woof. Woof. What
did he have to say? that he’s innocent. And you believe him? Yeah. What do you think? And if he
calls again, he won’t. And you know this because I know him. Yeah. Lundy wants to flag me to Captain
Matthews, you tell him to go for it. But James knows I believe in him, so it was worth the risk.
Dude, you cannot compare the I know him. You can’t compare the ice truck killer to someone she’s
known forever. Do you ever care about anyone, Morgan? Yeah. Yeah. Biny, then you shouldn’t have
to ask. When you care about someone, you do what you have to do. Yeah. Damn. Of the 46 slides, 18
belong to previously known butcher victims still running the DNA, but we’ve matched an additional
12 with felons in the criminal database, all reported missing. Do you have the new victim’s
jackets? Sorry, sir. Not my responsibility. Oh, Christ. That would be me. Each of the 12 had at
least one homicide on their records. And we all know how the butcher loves a killer. Hey, they
have 12 new butcher victims. Potential victims. You got names, man. If I keep this all working
together now. Why you got an angle of ducks? Uggh. Oh, is that calling him my razor phone? This
is a waste of time. Do is the butcher. We’re not going to find trace evidence on his clothes. The
guy we’re after is way too careful for that. Have to agree with you there. Hey. All those times you
called me lab geek, fairy winkle, donkey fluffer. Oh, I’m just glad I took it lying down, you know.
Surprise, Donkey Fluffer. Told Lundy to pull your protective detail. Oh, she’s going to hit you,
isn’t she? She’s going to hit someone if you don’t get the [ __ ] out of here. Yeah, bully
may not be manly, but it’s very effective. Wow, bro. Deb Dos is a lot of things, but he’s not an
idiot. He won’t come out of the shadows because of a grudge. Only the turtles come out of the
shadows. The serial killers are so practical. Actually, they are. I’m safer with Lundy’s troops
hunting doses than babysitting me. Lundy agreed. Just cuz Lundy doesn’t give a [ __ ] All he cares
about is solving this case and moving on. Deb, I thought he was the guy you could count on.
You are the only one I can count on. Oh, De. Yeah, that really de express her feelings.
She does. That hit her hard when he said that he’s going to be leaving after
the case. 100%. This isn’t just about me anymore. It’s about Deb and Rita and the
kids. Only one choice for Dos. Oh no. Oh no. He’s finally learning what Spider-Man goes
through. Yes. It’s hard being Peter Parker, man. Oh. Oh, you got the box. What’s in
the box? Come on out. Oh my god, dude. Second. Uh. Uhoh. Uhoh. Oh, no. No, no, no, no,
no. Oh, I hate it. I hate it, Andrew. I hate it. No reason for you to suffer. I mean, you’ve been
cooking all day. You come to a decision? Yes, but I don’t think you’re going to like him. Oh,
no. Regardless of how we got here, one of the two killers in this cabin has to go away. I am not a
killer. I have people who depend on me. They would be devastated if they found out what I did. You’re
more of a lone wolf. Easier to put down. No one in the back to miss you. You got family. We met them.
[ __ ] you, Morgan. I have a family. I have my mother, my sisters. You never visit. And you don’t
eat the cheesecake. If you had a personal life, you might not have made me your obsession and we
wouldn’t be here right now. Woof. Oh no. Sergeant, why would you hide a dead drug dealer’s cell
phone from me? You working on an exit strategy? I’m afraid that’s not going to happen. Oh boy. If
you want to bring me down, Morgan, you’re going to have to open this goddamn cage first. So, come
on. Bring it. I already did. I just didn’t know it. Oh, it’s in the water. Oh, no. No. Oh, boy.
[ __ ] The sedative works fast. It’s probably best just to go with it. You think you’re a [ __ ]
hero, don’t you? Cleaning up the [ __ ] streets. Your old man would be proud. Ooh. Oh boy. My old
man was proud. Oh my god. He really was a [ __ ] whack job. Name calling at this juncture. Oh, my
father was a legend on the force. Is that what you think? Oh no. They never told you. Oh Jesus.
Told me. Told me what? that there’s something about terribly discharged or something. What about
my father? What about my father? A [ __ ] Oh, you can’t kill him now, huh? Yeah, he needs to know.
Oh, I hate it. Do said I had two choices. Kill him or let him go, but he neglected to look behind
door number three. Hand him over to the FBI. Gift wrap. I don’t need Do’s dead. I just need his
fingerprints to complete my frame job. Oh my god. Every Saturday, beginning dive classes practice
underwater skills beside this dock. Tomorrow, they’ll find a morbid little surprise. I like the
colorcoded boats. When the feds receive these kill tools with their suspects prints on them, the
only threat to me will be the inane rants of a murderous madman. So close I can feel it. Uh,
is that Oh, that noise. Are we sure about this? This tragic tale might still end in D’s demise,
but not by my hands. Harry’s legacy will remain intact. Oh, Harry. Why in the hell did have
to bring up Harry? Of course. Cuz we got we need more drama, man. We got to bring some more
tension out. It’s only episode 10. God damn it. Jesus. Whoa. Rinus is going to walk because of
a goddamn typo. Faulty warrant, Harry. There’s nothing we can do. This is [ __ ] Don’t worry.
Will make another mistake. We’re just going to wait for him to kill another girl. Let’s get
the parents of Elm Street to light a fire on this guy. Yeah. You okay, Dad? I did the right
thing in training you. This just proves it. I did the right thing. Yeah. Sometimes the lawful way is
not the only way. Harry was a little unhinged. So, I said something. Only that this relationship
has an expiration date. When did I say that? Yesterday morning. You said when the case
ends, we end. I’m paraphrasing. Well, don’t paraphrase. I thought you understood when we
got involved. I track killers. That’s what I do. They tend to move around. Uggh. I’m not sure what
you thought would happen when the case ended. Keep in touch. Honestly, I hadn’t thought about it,
but it looks like you have, so now I know. Love. Oh my god. Sorry, but what’s with the highlights?
I was uh helping Laya paint a laugh last night. Paid for my lift ticket. Where’s my snow? Don’t
make me come after you. Sounds like Mr. Harlo is not only master of metaphor, but also inclined
toward violent confrontation. Better find out who he is in case. Yeah, I think to your point,
John, we could definitely see a situation where Lela comes to the beach. Christopher Harlo, known
alias for Joseé Garza, narcotics, armed robbery, and currently a fugitive from justice for murder.
Damn. With caution. Woof. I was thinking about your birthday. Just get me a gift certificate
on Amazon. Good to know. But the birthday I was thinking about was when dad threw the beer
bottle. It’s on your birthday. Out of the blue, Dex. What brought that up? Harry’s been on my
mind lately. I was trying to remember. Matthews came over that night, right? Yeah. He and dad got
in a fight. Friaking Matthews. I ended up wiping beer off the walls. Happy birthday to me. Happy
beer day. Hey, killer went free. That would upset any cop, right? Nothing weird about that. No, it
wasn’t weird. It’s just another example of dad’s priorities. Kids versus case. Case always won.
What about Danny? I’m picking up Audi. Remember? We’re meeting Dexter and Rita at the beach.
Bro, I at Miami Art Museum teaches an incredible children’s class. You can bring the whole gang if
you like. You know, with your history with Dexter, it might be a little awkward. He’s trying to
work things out with Rita. No, bro. Don’t. No. Is he now? No. Gremlin, I could have killed you.
I didn’t. I don’t want to. You didn’t because you can’t have time to think about this more. I don’t
fit that code you were talking about, do I? Hey, you know how I’ve been looking into your past,
right? I found something I wasn’t supposed to see. A photo of your butt. Your father’s death. Heart
disease. Nope. Big mystery. Bigger than that. And someone up high didn’t want it solved. Oh no,
you’re lying. Wow. It was buried deep, but it was there. Oh, [ __ ] What was there? Oh my god,
dude. No. Sure. Special ops taught you to rattle your captor, but I should warn you, Sergeant, you
can’t play on my feelings. I don’t have any. Yeah, I was waiting for that. Oh, really? Who’s lying
now? Hey, that’s the question of the show. I want to know if there was anything unusual
about my father’s death. His heart gave up. You know that? I heard there was more to it. from
home. Does it matter? Was there a shooter? Yeah, I guess it was inevitable you’d find out one
of these days. Uh, Margot Martindale squealled, didn’t she? He was a great cop. It’s a tough
job. It can wear on even the best of us. Father was always firmly in control. That he
was, but towards the end. Oh, no. The system doesn’t always work. Sometimes they get away. You
know that. Oh, did he go hunt somebody down? Oh, snap. How? The autopsy showed an overdose of his
heart medicine. Jesus, that happens all the time. People accidentally take the wrong dose. He called
me the day before he died. Oh my god. Asked me to keep an eye on you and your sister. I didn’t
realize what that call meant till he was gone. Yeah. So, I made sure that autopsy never saw the
light of day. Wow. I was looking out for the two of you like I said I would. Oh, this is bonkers.
I’m sorry, Dexter. Listen, why don’t we uh go to the club and have a drink? We can talk some more.
No, the legendary Harry Morgan, force for justice, architect of all that I am. It doesn’t make sense.
Yeah. That James Stokes can’t possibly be the Bay Harbor Butcher. Oh, no. We were doing surveillance
when one of your new victims, Larry Mueller, went missing. James and I were holed up in a motel room
24/7 for two weeks. He didn’t have time to piss, much less abduct and murder a man. Yeah, I’m
afraid this proves nothing. No, it proves that he was with me. It’s all here. Specific dates and
times. These are my personal stake out logs. Oh, no. You can’t just ignore legitimate evidence. I
can and I will ignore it because you gave me no choice. Lady. Lady. And your credibility was
compromised the second you failed to report a phone call. Yeah. It was a breach of protocol
and ethics. He’s got a point. Always thought my father died of heart disease. I just found out
that’s not true. He committed. Oh my god. That’s good. Open up. I don’t know why. Why he would
do that to himself or me or Deb. Oh baby. Oh. Oh baby. Found out where your cabin is. On my
way. I want my [ __ ] snow. God damn. God damn. Oh, ruies. You just not my normal kind
of customer. You know what I mean? Oh, you stole the Toll King. Yeah, seriously, bro. You
asked me what I thought would happen when the case ended. And the truth is, I had no [ __ ] idea.
And that was exciting. Yeah. What might happen, what could be, it was all possibility.
You’re here. And when you just assumed that we ended when the case ended, you crushed
that. Yeah. Yeah. Then want it back. Deborah, want to know what I thought would happen
when the case ended? I thought the novelty of my AARP discount would wear off
and you’d get tired of me. Oh my god. The sweetest thing you’ve ever said. They’re so cute. Yeah, they really are. What
do we got? I hit on one of Do’s false IDs at a car rental agency. Make, model, and
license plate. Let’s go. I hate this. Oh, what is Lyla up to? I hate this angel with
those roofies. You ever try and run in the sand? I never run. You’re a better man
than me. I’m glad you think so. Oh, okay. Surprise, [ __ ] Good transition. But
I’m so I’m so worried about Angel, man. He’s a known murderer and your final victim. Oh my god, that’s light at the end of the
tunnel. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What are we doing? Oh, she’s using She’s using that.
What are we doing? Laya, you want a beer? Hey, not bad. That was pretty smooth. What? What?
No. No. No. What happened? What happened? Oh, I hate it. I hate it. She cut herself
down. Hate it. I hate it. No, please. No, please. No. Yes. This is Detective Angel Batista
from Miami Metro Homicide. I need an ambulance. You go after killers. You take out killers. I get
that. But this this is some sick [ __ ] ritual, man. You need help. Let me help you, man. Don’t
worry, Sergeant. I won’t make you watch. I’m not univilized. Oh my god. This is Turn him over
to the law. I live by my father’s law. Oh no. Oh, you can hear that crunch. That’s gooey.
Squatch intensifies. Sorry it had to go down like this, Sergeant, but there really was no
other way. Oh boy. Stay away. Just stay away from me. Whoa. I’ve heard those words before.
Three days before my father’s death. Oh no. Hey, Dad. Whoa. Look what I did. Oh my god. It’s
Juan Reinus, the pimp who killed that girl. Oh, the one at the beginning of that flashback. Oh
god. Oh, Harry. Yeah, the one that the typo with the warrant or whatever. Ah, Harry, say it. Stay
away from me. Oh no. Stay away. Please stay away. Oh damn. Me. That is a those are triggering words.
The idea of a code was one thing. A noble cause, but the reality of it. Harry walked
in on what he created and he couldn’t live with himself. Oh man, I hate
it. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. God, look at that. Look at the look in his eyes.
What? Morgan, what now? What now? I killed my father. Wow. No. No. Rej Nation, it’s that weird
time of the year where you’re still holding on to the end of summer. But as it’s wrapping up,
you’re also kind of getting ready to go back into a routine. My routine, long filming days,
a lot of editing sessions, a lot of meetings, and not much time to think about the basics,
like hydration. This summer, I’ve gone to a lot of events and I’ve also dropped close to 50 lbs
through diet and exercise. Cuz if I’m going to lead this company, I got to make sure my health
is up to par. And that’s why Liquid IV has been my goto hydration drink. God, I love these guys.
I have been using them for such a long time. I sometimes use it before I work out, after I work
out, if I need a pick me up in the middle of the afternoon or if I’m about to do an interview.
There’s so many different reasons I justify just to use Liquid IV and it’s just so helpful. It’s
a part of my lifestyle. All you do is grab one of these packets, just tear, pour, mix, and go. This
right here, I love it. It’s a lemon lime flavor, but there’s also another flavor that I have at
home, the new orange dream vanilla flavor. It’s like a creamsicle, bringing back those sunny
childhood summer vibes. And what makes liquid IV awesome is that it hydrates better than water
alone. It’s powered by LIV Hydrocience with three times the electrolytes of leading sports drinks
and eight essential vitamins. It’s non GMO, vegan, gluten- free, dairy free, soy free, all free. Fits
right into my health goals. So savor the last bits of summer and kick off fall the right way. Tear
pour live more. You can go to liquid iivv.com and get 20% off your first order with code reject at

lifestyle and for sponsoring this video. You guys rock. Oh. Oh my god. What an episode. Oh my god.
What an episode. Donald Andrew. All right, guys. That was season 2 episode 10. Well, we’re going
to break from the norm right now. Donald, hey, I think we’re gonna answer some questions that we
got before we get into episode two or episode two. Yeah, we’re going to go back to episode and then
we’re going to come back. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Now, we’re going to answer some questions before
we get into episode 11, season two. So, yeah, we do have a couple specifically uh geared questions
for the for the last two episodes we just did. So, couple of episodes. Oh my god. Thank you guys for
chiming in. I mean, you know, we’re going to give everyone their time, but we’re also going to hop
on pretty quick, too. Episodes 11 and 12 to end off the season. Oh my god. I am I actually I could
use a breather. I’m I’m exhausted right now. Okay. Alrighty. Let’s uh let’s see who’s kicking us off.
Andrew and John from KJ Gold. All right. Loving the Dexter reaction so far. Fun trivia. We do love
some fun trivia. Dexter’s forensics colleague, Vince Masuka, is played by CS Lee, who has
appeared in another show you both reacted to. He’s most unrecognizable as the vicious Master Kim
Suny Young in the final season of Cobra Kai. Yes, we did mention that a couple times already, but
thank you for pointing that out. Not to steal your thunder, it it has come up and my mind continues
to be blown by this fact. Yeah. No, we we did look it up and we saw like he’s got prosthetic
makeup to make him look older, of course, and then the the mustache and all that. But yeah, that
that’s a cool fact. Thank you for sharing that, kid. Absolutely. He’s a great actor. He’s so
versatile that you would never I remember when we first saw him, we both were like, “Where have
we seen this actor before? He looks so familiar.” And then when we found it out, we’re like, “What?”
Mind blown. So yeah, I every time I see him now, I keep like looking at him like, “Okay, maybe I
can fill in the prosthetics and the and the wigs and the, you know, fake beard and all that stuff.”
I know when you rewatch season six of Cobraai, now you’re just going to wait for a sexual
innuendo. I know what you’re thinking under there. You posturing like you’re some tough old
dude. No, I see you. Yes. No mercy. Love that fact though. Appreciate you. All right, Landon Miller,
real quick for Andrew and John. What did you think about Dos finding the blood slides? And how do you
feel about Dex locking Dos in the cabin instead of killing him? I mean, I was really worried when
Dos found it, of course. And I originally assumed that cuz we had a question at the end of the
last episodes like, do you think he’s going to, you know, use the the power of the authorities
or do you think he’s going to do it himself individually? And I said he’s I mean, at this
point, he’s not going to go. I didn’t think he was going to do it with the authorities going to do it
himself. So, and then what was the other part of the question? What do I think about him blocking
doses in right? Yeah. I mean, I will say this, like I even though it’s when I say cat and
mouse, obviously he’s not like chasing him, but I love the whole cat and mouse type of
interaction that they have going back and forth between them. They’re so freaking good. These two
actors, Michael Sehon, I’m so sorry I forgot the actor’s name who plays doses. He is so the way he
is able to emote with his eyes. Whether it’s like Eric King. Eric Eric King. He is He’s so freaking
good. The way Eric is able to emote with his eyes, whether it’s like the surprise look, mother. Yes.
Yes. French fries with root eyes. Some pies. All rise. Yes. But the way he’s able to emote, whether
it’s like in wonder or like discovery or like, you know, he’s like distraught, he’s just so damn
good and like you know exactly what he’s thinking right away and it’s it’s but it’s like really
it’s powerful too when he does it or Yeah. So, uh but I love it. I just anytime that there and
and and John made a great point too what he said like in the first episode you’re like you didn’t
think we were going to like him that much like we were like we’re meant to hate this character but
like as the show has developed his character and we’ve grown to know more about him like he’s just
such a fascinating character and he’s like really got this presence about him and like it’s it’s
almost mesmerizing when he’s on the screen and I just I I think him and Dexter it’s like some of
my favorite interactions like when you watch them on the show together. So, yeah, he’s really
fascinating character. What about you? Yeah, I love the opposing nature of the two of them. I
love watching them together. I love, as much as it can be agonizing in the moment of watching
the show, I do love having this, as you said, cat-and- mouse game between a cat and a mouse,
both of which I like. You know, obviously it’s Dexter. We’re following Dexter, but Dos, I mean,
like, you know, he stands on his own business and uh I really love watching him. I really love
what he brings and I really while I am sort of uh you know I’m caught up in the tension of the
fact that he has taken him prisoner essentially uh at the same time like it is fascinating to
see the layers of dogs’s character that have been coming and going through this process watching
the cop doses you know watching well I feel like at first you have the headstrong doses who you
know has his beef with Dexter then we go a layer deeper into cop doses you know really just trying
to deescalate the situation. And then finally, I feel like Do’s accepting and kind of succumbing
to just how horrific this and twisted this moment, this situation is. Uh, and it’s like, you know,
you’re sitting here hoping that there could be some kind of understanding or redemption or I
don’t know what. And you know that, you know, these two characters are probably never going to
ever see eye to eye. And it just fascinates me to know how like this is a fun position to be in in
the season because I think I again as we’ve said on a lot of these talks I admire that they haven’t
really pulled any punches and they have really gone for you know what’s going to create the most
tension what’s going to you know really cut to and uh cut to the quick and surprise the audience and
uh you know I never expected at the start of the show that we would be here with doses already
by season two and um yeah I mean coming back to the bloodslides Uh it’s just the way that that
even turned around like they’re good at yeah like coming up with a situation where you’re like okay
this is absolutely the worst case scenario for Dexter. this is this body of evidence. But the
flip around, you know, them basically bringing him in and being like, “We need you to analyze
all these slides,” I thought was really fun. And and yeah, like, you know, it makes sense
that he would go and try to get the, you know, samples analyzed or do his own, you know, off
the record, you know, investigation of this. Um, you know, it’s handy that he, I guess, left the,
you know, slides in the car in America and was like doing this thing not all in one trip. I guess
part of me would would go back and kind of examine those details just because, you know, if he had
taken them with him obviously on the trip and just got it all done in one if he’d brought them
with him for the negotiation before securing the, you know, uh, go-ahad from his friend or at least
the cooperation of his, you know, exacquaintance there. Uh, you know, I’m sure things would be
different now. Uh but yeah, like it’s definitely been a great driver of tension and it’s definitely
created some really fascinating back and forth I think between the characters because yeah, like
their whole talk about the fact that Dos can see him and the difference in the ways that they have
killed and they have executed the law. Uh yeah, like I you know, you want it all to work out
somehow. I don’t feel like it can. And now it’s just up to them to stick the landing of the
season and I hope that they can. I hope that they do. Yeah. Yeah. You made and you made a great
point because we’re like past the point of no return. It feels like what is the Yeah. So many.
It’s like what is the resolve going to be? And I think like how does Do stay on the show? Does he
stay on the show? I assume he better because he’s such a damn good adversary and foil to Dexter.
Yeah. And like they have it’s interesting like they have different ideologies because one I mean
like uh one like he obviously Dexter like operates in a morally gray like you know area whereas do
follows the law even though sometimes he goes into that morally gray area too. Sure. So it’s like
you know but I think they’re they’re they’re like the contrast between them is just so fascinating
and you love both the characters. So that’s this is why I love the show so much. Like you don’t
want to see you’re so emotionally invested in these characters. You don’t want to see anything
happen. And I think that’s like why in real time too as we were reacting like that’s why we’re like
we don’t want to see anything happen to London. We don’t want to see anything happen to Angel.
It’s like they made it they’ve really gotten us to really care for these characters a great deal.
And also too I’m still like I’m not saying that Tom wasn’t being truthful. The lieutenant or
captain whatever he is. I still want I I still want more information on the on the dad if that’s
really what happened. Again, he seemed genuine, but I don’t know. Again, the show is thrown so
many curveballs. Yeah. All that was heavy, too, Yeah. it was. I’m just I’m not saying it’s not
true. I’m just saying I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t is all is all. Yeah. So, we’ll see. God.
All right. Sunrock, here we go. Andrew and John, thank you so much for chiming in here. At this
point, the show presents us with two villains or foes for Dexter in Laya and Dos. What do you guys
make of that tension in the two types of obstacles we have for Dexter? And how does that alter, if at
all, your feelings about Dexter as our quote hero? I’m fascinated by the Do Dexter relationship in
particular and eager to hear your guys’ thoughts. Yeah, I mean uh yeah, you know, two antagonists
absolutely this season. And and I would say too that you know, Dexter has certainly been an
antagonist of the season and an antagonist to himself as well as others because again with all
the Laya stuff, uh you know, she has brought in, you know, helping him accept certain aspects
of his personality and heal certain aspects of his trauma, she has brought out this more, you
know, megalomaniacal version of him. this this, you know, overconfident, you know, the the kind of
person looking down on everybody else that a lot of serial killers can come across as. You know,
she’s kind of like her influence turns him into the more sort of uh textbook idea or demeanor
that you might associate with a sort of yeah, grandstanding serial killer. And you know, he’s
sending out this like fake manifesto and stuff and he’s like making the cops dance to his music
and he gets a little sloppy in this place. And you know, I I feel like the way that both of
them have caused him to work against himself, whether that be in, you know, action or in
thought, has been really fascinating. And I mean, like the cat and mouse with dogs has been really
fun. I very much enjoyed the more chill side of that where it’s just like something’s up with
you, man, and I don’t like you. And then, you know, having him vindicated here and,
you know, to have it all revealed, you know, it’s fun to have an antagonist. Yeah. Who’s not
necessarily like a traditional villain because obviously like he’s technically working for
the law, you know, and he’s technically trying to get Dexter to stop killing people at the bare
minimum. Uh, so yeah, I I like the dynamics here and the fact that after the first season and I
would assume in future seasons having, you know, a particular serial killer of the season to do
part two or, you know, season two as, you know, it’s Dexter, it’s the Bay Harbor Butcher, you
know, that’s the serial killer, and we’re going to use both familiar and new characters to warp
this person in on themselves as they try to thwart being, you know, revealed. and had you know it’s I
think it’s yeah it’s I mean Dexter in this season to me has certainly sort of had to grapple with
the idea of his villain and his heroism in equal measure and you know the more he has been healed
in the Laya story line the worse he’s gotten the more villainous he has become the less of the
hero the more self-erving you know and so yeah to have these various characters kind of show
him like oh man you know my life with Laya and the kids is like so crucial it’s it’s almost part
of the code because it’s what keeps him with any degree of morality and compassion, you know. Yeah.
No, it’s been fascinating to watch him this whole identity crisis that he went through uh especially
in the early part of the season as like, you know, he saw like his whole worldview of Harry, his his
f his foster father rather, kind of shattered a little bit and what he thought was, you know,
what he taught him and everything was a lie. So yeah, to have that re reh reestablished back
has been really interesting to watch. When it comes to jokes, you know, like I mean we I kind of
already went into it when it comes to him just I I I I think he presents like a mental obstacle
but also like he can be a physical obstacle as well for him. So I think that’s what makes it so
fascinating the two of them. But when it comes to Laya, like I found it very interesting that right
away she she immediately recognized that facade in him because she had it in herself, you know,
that that dark passenger and she detected that [ __ ] meter immediately. And like that’s what
makes their relationships and not sweet anymore, but like bittersweet, I guess you could say, but
messed up as well. But she isn’t a very like now we obviously dislike her and like I’m very curious
of her endgame what she’s trying to do because we we thought like she had put the roofies in
Angel’s uh wine and now she put it uh in or she took it herself. So I’m very curious setting him
up man. Yeah. No, I’m curious what her end game is. But like again, I I I like the mental obstacle
that she is, you know, uh opposing for for uh for Dexter. But I like that again, he’s kind of just
like when he’s with her, he’s like kind of just questioning himself, questioning his morale, his
identity. And I uh I think this is a a fascinating and dramatic way to to take the character and
to establish uh him and give him again just an emotional arc throughout the season. But yeah,
again, you mentioned to uh what was it? Keith Keredine and uh Deb in regards to did they have
like a an on-screen test uh right with uh for Oh, yeah. Like a chemistry test. Chemistry test. I
feel like I don’t know if you feel the same way, but I I feel like and I know we didn’t really
have any interactions really with them the last two episodes. I feel like him and Laya had
a lot of chemistry as well. The actors Oh, they Yeah. And I mean they would have absolutely
chemistry taken two of them. I could see them too, but like these uh uh what is it? Keith, Keredine,
Llaya, like such good additions. I feel like Lundy too is kind of a good obstacle. I would even
add as well just because and I know he’s not specifically looking at Dexter right now. He’s
kind of it’s more towards Dos now. And I think it’s so fascinating like when you and we the
audience and Dexter obviously know the truth that Dos is not the Butch the uh Butch Harbor
Bay Harbor Butch Butch Harbor. Here’s me with my Mr. Match. Yes. Go ahead. Let’s get ice cream
butcher truck killers. The Bay Harbor. Anyways, we we the audience know uh who what the truth
is, but like when everything has been presented to us and like this is very uh like it’s actually
justified and why he has come to this conclusion and then you get the thing with is like yeah
this is actually justified and uh and and this is evidence right here but what you did before
with not coming to us with that call like it you breached ethics and you breached uh you know
you’re do you know I’m like this is such damn good writing Like I I love when they plant these kinds
of seeds, then there’s a payoff in the end. So, and again, I know like he’s not particularly
an obstacle yet for Dexter, but again, I’m I’m anxious to see that resolve as well with
Lundy. Yeah. But I thought there was some great writing as well too in regards to, and I know this
isn’t part of this question. I’m sorry to veer off a little bit, but I thought there was a that
that scene too when it came to with Lundy and Deb. That was so that was so well written that he’s
like I was kind of pulling away in this moment, too, because I was I was afraid that you were
going to get kind of sick of me. I’m like, “Oh, that was so sweet.” And then she’s like, “That was
like the sweetest thing anyone’s ever said to me.” I’m like, “I really love those two characters.”
So, I’m like, it’s amazing like when we can pull away from like the main, you know, uh uh plot
of the the a plot of of the season and we can still be so invested in the other things. I think
that’s like credit to the writers like to make us care about some of these other, you know, B and
C plots, character beats that are going on. Yeah, they’re really well conceived across whole seasons
and in individual episode form. And yeah, there’s no character or plot line I’m begrudged to check
in with. Like I do at the moment anyway still love the whole range of the ensemble. Yeah. To and to
that point really quick, we’ll get to the next question. There’s sometimes where I’ll rewatch a
show. I’ll be like, “Nah, I don’t care about this this character beat or this plot. I’m I’m fast
forwarding through it. Let’s get to the next one.” So, and I’ve like granted like this is a first
time watch and we can’t fast forward obviously, but there’s so far there’s not been one character
beat or one plot where I’m like I’m really bored by this. We just move on. Yeah. So, let’s let’s
again credit it to the writer room. Heck yeah. All right, Maui E. You crank that Soulja Boy. I think
the addition of Jamie Murray was a great choice. She plays Laya. She is amazing. Um, she’s also in
Spartacus, a series I wish Reax reacts to before the spin-off series begins. I can never make
any promises here as to what will be reacted to, but uh, you know, it’s definitely something that
has been requested and, uh, I would be thrilled for a chance to check it out. So, keep an eye out.
might happen. I’ve never seen it. I’ve only heard good things. But in regards to Jamie Murray, she’s
fantastic. And again, just with what she does with the character, I love how uh just emotional she
is, how manipulative she can be, how like present she can be, how she can like be the joyous one
in the room. Like she’s just very versatile when it comes to how she is in this role. Again, her
chemistry with Dexter is so good. Her chemistry with the other actors is so good. I love the way
she like goes her bickering back and forth with Deb in the the few interactions we’ve seen. She
is so good and we love to hate her, too. Yeah. No, she’s Yeah. And she’s really really attractive,
too. Yeah. She entered and the second again like she has this look about her that just feels kind
of unique from everybody else in any room that she’s in, especially, you know, in Miami. Uh and
then the second she starts speaking and you know the British accent and all that stuff you know
she there’s so much about the character that is I think intentionally very arresting and yeah you
know perfectly kind of embodied in her performance and two I mean I think she encapsulates a really
good back and forth between the moments where you’re like ah I can tell she’s putting it on
or she’s manipulating a situation then other times where she starts talking sense and seems
very cleareyed and very again you know wise to some degree. of experience. Uh yeah, like this is
a character who you got to hate in the right ways and you have to have understood the temptation of
and uh at least for my viewing experience, yeah, I think uh her performance, she’s understood the
assignment quite well. And yeah, the character has certainly is is currently leaving an impression,
you know, in a lot of ways a hater, but in the right way. Yeah. I mean, she did again, like you
said, she did her job and make us hate her. That’s what she’s supposed to do. And I’m not not only
am I hoping Angel survives because we love the charact because we love the character so much, but
I want him to have bragging duties against Vince as well in at the end of this season and into next
season. But he’s going to be like Vince will be like you someone who’s in like justifiably insane.
I’m like, “Yeah, but she’s really hot.” Well, and it makes me wonder how decorate her room and
her Yeah. Oh god. It makes me wonder how deep her rabbit hole uh goes. Yeah. Seriously. Yeah.
uh in that we’ve obviously seen her capable of arson and of various fraudulent activities and
she obviously had no trouble going and picking up those roofies. So, you know, like it makes me
wonder to what degree her monstrousness, you know, how far and wide does it reach? You know, what
what do we not know about this person? You know, how many bodies is she responsible for? And really
quickly again, she said, it’s a little foggy and misty. Maybe you’ll remind me, but she said
something about her boyfriend when she got killed him. Like she said like she they were on drugs or
something and then she knew what she was doing. I don’t I don’t I don’t I feel like she was like she
was stretching the truth a little there. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. But uh good addition. Good good
chaos. A agreed. Great actress. All right, Jay Rush. What up, Jay? Thank you so much for chiming
in. Speaking of your boy, uh, like on Dexter, who got the best fashion there? It’s got to be Angel.
Angel, honestly, it’s Angel. Enough said. I mean, Laya does have obviously a strong fashion sense.
I like her better when she’s not wearing clothes, though. That, you know, and she also has a taste
in fine lingerie. So, obviously, you got to shout Laya out. Uh, but Angel 100%. silk shirts,
the patterns, his little hats, all that stuff, the goatee. My man is dripping and uh and I love
to see it. Sorry about the Vince comment there, guys, but you know, I had to attractive. My
Mizuka, he’s also Yeah, pretty Vince has got some It’s pretty drippy. The whole bowling
team, that’s who dresses the best. But, uh, leave us your comments. Who’s the best dressed on
Dexter? All right, there we go. Laura Rain, this series is the highlight of my week, RS 2, thank
you for joining us. I’m thrilled to join you both as you experience this legendary series for the
first time. I hope you’ll be watching the newest additions to the Dexter fam as well. I would love
to do that. Uh my questions, how much do you think Dexter spends on cleaning supplies? I hadn’t even
thought about that. Yeah, man. A lot of plastic. Let’s start off one question at a time. How much
do you think Dexter spends on cleaning supplies? And at this point, are his kill rooms sponsored
by Mr. Clean? Yeah, definitely sponsored by Mr. Clean. Definitely Dawn. What’s the one they use to
to get oil off of baby ducks? I think that’s what Dexter That’s Dawn, right? With the duck, right?
That’s Dawn. Yeah. Want to want to take out body? Palm Olive Man. Yeah. Uh, how much is he spending?
Uh, I don’t know. He’s spending $1,000. Upwards of $1,000 or more. I mean, well, I mean, he must
have a bulk hookup for his plastic. Yeah. Uh, that he wraps all the rooms and stuff in. He must,
you know, I mean, order a lot of garbage. Also, too, sorry, not to cut you off. He’s also got to
like keep that off the books so he doesn’t like buys it all in cash. Yeah, exactly. Cash. Well, or
uses a dummy corporation. [ __ ] that it would be reasonable to keep on hand. Like the trash bags is
one thing cuz you know, like what’s one trash bag every once in a while? But like yeah, the big
old rolls of plastic obviously feel like yeah, it’s mostly that and then some kind of you
know like some kind of liquid cleaner you would imagine. I mean the plastic takes care of a lot
of that’s a lot of blood. I feel like much of your again in his, you know, the way he does things.
I feel like you can pretty much just like crumple the plastic up and then you’re good. You just toss
the plastic and you’re done with it. So maybe it’s actually less expensive than you think. What about
all the the the gear that he’s wearing? Does you just throw it away or Well, you know, I mean,
like in the laundry, he’s got his like smoks and stuff like that. Yeah, I got to imagine he just
like washes them off or whatever. It’s got to be repeat usage. I’m going I I don’t know how much,
but I’m going to imagine it’s less than you would imagine. And definitely, I mean, if he could get
that Mr. Clean sponsorship, I’m sure it would just make his life that much easier. Yeah. No, 100%.
I hope he goes after a killer who looks like Mr. Clean. Second part of your question. Also, when
Dexter tells Dos he won’t be caught, did anyone else get full Walter White vibes? I can’t answer.
I’ve never seen one episode of Breaking Bad, so I can’t answer that. I was half expecting Dexter
to look at Dos in the cage and say, I am the one who knocks and slices. I’ll let you answer.
And slices. Uh, yeah. I mean, it’s definitely got that energy. It’s definitely got that like,
do you know who you’re talking to kind of like, yeah, I am in I am the captain kind of vibe. Uh,
and yeah, I mean, and Breaking Bad is a show that is very much about points of no return and just
blowing shattering through them. Uh I mean yeah like and and Walter White obviously different kind
of character uh different kind of criminal but uh but yeah someone who this season especially
because yeah Dexter has flirted I think with his ego and with his sense of you know his place
in the world and in this season you know he’s certainly that thing he said you know about being
more selfish you know and being and and you know sort of when he’s coming down from the high and
sort of reconnecting with the code and realizing like oh Rita and the kids are like important. They
keep me human and you know I being there for Deb is important in a different way. And these these
revelations as of these episodes where he’s like oh [ __ ] I have people who rely on me and I have
people who would be utterly shattered and and like irrevocably altered emotionally you know if they
were to discover me. Uh and you know obviously there’s a lot of that in Breaking Bad 2 in its
own way. Uh, and so yeah, like one of the most frustrating things to watch about Walter White is
like how much when he’s feeling himself, he’s his own worst enemy. And I think that’s well embodied
here in the season and also in a moment like that where he is facing off against Dos, who’s a
guy who clearly looks at him a certain way, which is causing his ego to flare up a bit more
because he’s in control. Like it’s it’s a really fascinating bit of uh, you know, drama to watch.
Yeah. I mean, it was fascinating too cuz in season one, at least the way I was interpreting or the
way he was explaining it was like it was all like a facade is at first why he was just dating people
in general and then you know he really grew to to care for Rita and the kids and like and I found it
so fascinating how like even subconsciously like he had gone to her place and and slept there
because he’s been so so protective over them and like you said like they really make him feel
human and like and I like that he’s gaining this sense of perspectiveness And uh he’s just taking
accountability for and that that talk to where he expected nothing back in return like he knew the
mistake when I’m talking about accountability when he knew the mistakes that he made with Laya and
how she got to him emotionally and manipulated him and again he he took account for the mistakes
and he genuinely apologized to her wanting nothing back in return just saying hey I just wanted to
say it. I’m so sorry for how I made you feel. That is not okay for what I did but I genuinely
care about you and I’m so sorry about that. like that actually like again not forgiving but that
was a very sweet sentiment and I appreciated like how much he’s growing as a person and that
communication was really endearing and sweet like and I I appreciated that again still not
a forgivable thing that he did but also someone manipulated him at the same point not justified
in what he did but that was I I again I like that perspectiveness from him to grow as a person and
to be able to communicate that yeah and I think Rita recognized that as well so that was awesome
hell Yeah. Do you have anything else? All right, Emma. Emma, last one before we hop into episodes
11 and 12. Was there I’m so sorry. Was there Was there one more? That’s Oh, that’s H. Oh, okay.
That’s a different thing. My bad. My bad. Sorry about that. All right. For Dexter, for Andrew and
John, what do you think about the revelation that Harry uh chose his own departure from this mortal
coil? Yes. Uh, we’ve heard Dexter talk about his heart disease and that it killed him before, but
now we know the truth. Do you think seeing what he created in Dexter really caused that or do you
think it was something that was building in him? Do you think he should uh tell Deborah about this
revelation? Let’s start right there. Let’s start there. Then we’ll continue. I mean, it seems like
that now that you’re asking that question, Emma, it seems like now that might really have been what
happened. And again, with how Tom was cuz again, just I’ve said it already a couple times. I’m just
going to repeat it one last time because of how many curve balls and how much on edge this show
always keeps us. I never know what’s sometimes the truth. So if that’s really what happened like it’s
definitely I was not anytime there’s a twist in this show. I I will give the show credit. I love
that it’s not it’s really hardly ever predictable. Sure. Like it subverts your expectations in the
best kind of ways. Yeah, like even something as simple as we thought Laya was just going to show
up in the beach. I’m glad that they didn’t even go that route for instance, just on something very
simplistic. That was something I was not expecting also in regards to Harry and like taking his own
life like that. And that is definitely like that is emotionally resonating and like like look what
I have even though like I did it for the right reasons and that and I had the right intentions
and I care so deeply about my son even though you know everything that had been revealed
earlier on too with in regards to making his u he was having an affair with Dexter’s mother had
her as an informant he felt very responsible for him like and now he knows there there’s this itch
that he has to keep you uh like at bay and this is the only way to do it. And now like now seeing
what’s right in front of him as he’s chopping up this man and if this is really what happened. It’s
definitely a fascinating and emo emotionally heavy twist. Mhm. Do I think he should tell Deborah
about this? I don’t know. Just Deborah is very emotional and I love her for it so much. I just
don’t I’m not saying Deborah can’t handle it. It’s just she has dealt with a lot in this last year
after the ice cream truck the ice truck killer with I had to do it one time again after the 15
drink. Yeah. After the 15,000 times they did it last season after what happened with Biny Brian
Rudy in the last season. That’s a tough question. I I mean, obviously, we know that Dexter has kept
hidden who he really is from Deborah, and I got to imagine at some point in the seven seasons, will
be revealed to Deborah. This is a hard one, John. I just think, yes, eventually he will maybe have
to tell her. I mean, but she also had a closed off relationship with him, too. But she I think like
the truth always comes out. She’s going to find out. Now, I think really really quick, and I’ll
let you answer. I think like this is the thing. If she finds out that Dexter knew and he didn’t tell
her, she’s going to be pissed. Yeah, that’s the thing. That’s the thing I’m worried about. But if
Dexter does tell her, she’s definitely going to be emot like she’s going to feel it emotionally. Of
course, it’s her father took his own life, but at least Dexter will have been honest with her. Like,
she’ll be able to handle it. It’ll take her some time to handle it, but at least Dexter was honest
with her about it as opposed to finding out that Dexter kept something hidden, which we know he’s
keeping something way more hidden than that. But what what are your thoughts? I mean, yeah, I think
the complication arises in Dexter’s own grappling with the idea and the question of how much he had
to do with this. Um, I mean, I think he should tell. I think Deborah has a right to know. uh you
know I think he should tell Deborah because that’s her dad you know and uh the risk therein is that
yes maybe this was partially in response to what I revealed to him. Um, but I think she absolutely
deserves to know. It’s mostly, yeah, I guess a dramatic question of how awkward would that be
and when is the right time and can she I get why you would think, well, can she handle this? But
I think it’s something different. Uh, you know, cuz it’s got nothing to do with her. There’s
nothing she could have done about it, you know, and it’s not something that was in direct reaction
to anything that she did. So, I feel like, you know, it’s different from everything that happened
with Rudy because, you know, obviously she entered into that and it has to do with her own ability to
sus these things out and to, you know, read clues that you don’t need to know to be looking for all
that stuff. I I think he should definitely tell her. I just don’t know exactly when or how that
happens. And to your previous question, I mean, I think it’s probably a little bit of everything.
It seems like the point of the flashbacks in this season has been to kind of fill in the, you
know, gaps and to hip us to the idea that Harry was a complicated guy and the kind of person who
could recognize what’s in Dexter and then commit to shaping that into some different form that’s
maybe a little bit more benevolently inclined than not. like, you know, you got to be a little bit
of an outside of the box mind to entertain that idea at all, I imagine. So, um, and yeah, I mean,
we’ve learned all that stuff about, you know, his, uh, arrangement with the biological dad, with
his entanglement with Dexter’s biological mom, him taking Dexter, leaving Brian, uh, all these
things. You know, Harry seems like a guy, yeah, with like a a great heart and a moral code
for sure, but also a complicated guy who I I think they touched on, you know, who was
very much grappling with the boundaries, the limitations of the law as it is, you know,
carried out in society. Um, and I have to imagine that in a situation like that, you know, it’s
like, yeah, I’m torn up that these people get away on technicalities and stuff like that, but
also my own son has literally brought this home and is like hacked this guy up and like I’ve know
I’ve been trying to curb these urges, but also like I’m presented with it to my face now. And
I can imagine, yeah, very much that it’s kind of all this stuff. It’s the soup of all of it. And
I liked that the stay away from me man that came out of Do’s mouth sounded very different from the
stay away from me that Harry says, even though I have a feeling that there’s something similar at
the core of both. I think they’re both in that moment like just don’t come any closer to me right
now. Like I, you know, don’t try and fix it. It’s not going to be fixed and you are, you can’t
help right now. Um, and in Harry’s situation, he’s still trying to kind of shield the feelings
such that they are. Yeah. um such a crazy parallel between the two visuals, too. Yeah, I think it’s
it’s nicely drawn dramatically so that you can wonder and you can draw certain conclusions and
there are a lot of good arguments for a lot of different sides of this and I think that’s part
of what’s nice about the drama is that you get to wonder too. Um but yeah, I don’t know. I don’t
know if he tells Deborah when I would expect he maybe would just because again like right she
deserves to know that because you know he’s both their dad ultimately and I think also too yeah
I agree with you and I think also too if he does tell her which she does deserve to know does that
cut into their relationship at all? I don’t think it does, but I think like there is Yeah. It’s
like you can’t tell her the added context. No, no, no, no. I I didn’t mean that. I just mean
like I think from a uh you know, she like there’s kind of this animosity that Deb feels in regards
like she’s not mad at Dexter for it. It’s just like it’s a resentment that she knows that her
father just spent all this time with Dexter and she doesn’t know why. Yeah. So he’s got Yeah. And
he’s got to stretch the truth so much about it. Like he can’t tell her why. So yeah, it becomes
this situation of okay, I can kind of tell her, but I can’t. Yeah. So it’s Yeah, it makes it
very precarious and difficult at the same time for texture. And so I mean, yeah, it’s it they set
it up nicely and dramatically for to see like what the hell is going to happen. I don’t know 100%.
Yeah. Also, what do you think about Deborah and Lundy’s relationship? We’ll go from Oh, and do you
think it’s going to go anywhere? They both seem pretty serious about it. Do you think Deb might
be going into another serious relationship this so fast to cope with her last serious relationship
with the ice truck killer? Or do you think that Lundy might remind Deb of her father in some ways,
which is why she got so attached because Lundy gives her that validation she wanted from Harry?
That’s a very fascinating point you make there, Emma. And I did feel that way before you mentioned
that. I said there is a lot because there’s so much she didn’t get from her father and this
is like a validating you know stance on that with this relationship she has with this man that
was so absent in her relationship with her father because he was spending so much time with Dexter
like stopping the urges and training him obviously in the code of Harry and all that and again she
doesn’t know why but yeah like she is so lonely emotionally physically and especially with what
happened with Biny in last season and but This doesn’t feel like also too it it really does not
uh what’s his name? Gabriel. That kind of felt like a rebound to me. Whereas this one feels
genuine because they really took their time on that. And uh Lundy, you know, when like he uh was
giving her these motivational and mentorship type of of talks. It’s kind of like talks like her that
she wanted to hear from her father or someone of that type of like, you know, mentor type of uh uh
of relationship. And I like how they really took their time building that up and like little talks
of like, hey, the way you’re feeling right now, you like use that to your strength and and
and such. And I know John shipped that that relationship early on which was again very very
good call. But I think because they slowly uh had a we had a real nice slow burn on that like we
really got time to get very emotionally invested in that relationship of these two and they have
just such nice on onscreen chemistry that I never really at any time felt that it really rushed
into this relationship or I feel like this is a rebound of any sort. I really And also too when
you felt the the deep hurt that she felt when he said like there’s kind of an expiration date
on this when the case ends. Like I mean like if this was just a rebound for Deb, I don’t think
she would be bothered or hurt by that. So like to me it doesn’t feel like that. This truly does feel
like a true serious relationship. And that’s why I also the fact like taking away the relationship I
actually really like Lundy. like yeah, he’s a very hardass kind of guy when it comes to his job and
he takes it very seriously and he’s by the book, but also like he’s a very caring and genuine guy
too and he does give a [ __ ] about Deb and that was like it also had a lot of meaning too when he
said like hey kind of wanted to break this thing off not because I don’t give a [ __ ] about
you but because I was kind of afraid like I had ARP on me like kind of an old joke at himself
which I thought was really funny but also like I I understood it too. I get it. But like, no, this
actually this relationship has a lot of emotional weight and meaning. And I don’t feel like it’s
it’s at all a rebound in any which way. And I think Deb takes it extremely serious. Oh, yeah. I
mean, I I felt like the way that this relationship sparked was really fun to watch because obviously
they do the gradual buildup partly, you know, as it exists behind the sort of can we even
entertain this idea, you know, like there’s clearly some kind of allure between them or some
kind of just um they they seem to get along, you know, once we get past all the stuff about,
you know, like take me off your task force and enclosed and he openly gradual and I feel like
yeah I would agree like the Gabriel relationship charming though it was does seem more like okay
this is the rebound to get back out there and then Lundy is the sort of like oh I’ve recognized
an opportunity that I’m excited by and that I’m attracted to but also that could be good for me
and so uh yeah I feel like it’s almost sort of a sign of moving past the rebound because it’s like
yeah Gabriel is sort of perfect on paper in a lot of ways and is a perfectly charming guy but Lundy
to your other question I think yeah is a suave and interesting in general u you know yeah he’s
very charming and their little aides about music and sandwiches and his little quirks and stuff
just like the personal side that we see is uh you know very lovely but yeah I would agree that
he certainly has some kind of fatherly quality, some kind of you know um in some kind of mentor
like quality and uh yeah I absolutely would believe that he is sort of providing some of
the validation that she feels like she must have missed and uh and it’s an interesting bit of
psychology obviously because yeah I mean you know not that they look exactly alike or sound exactly
alike but they also could be more different you know uh you know him and uh and Harry and uh
you know James Remar So, uh, yeah, I mean, I think it’s a a really nice development for her.
Like, it’s in, I guess, you know, in timelinewise, it’s sort of still within that rebound phase,
but no, like Lundy doesn’t feel like that to me. And I feel like his his um, you know, view on
the the timeline of things. Like, I I don’t know where to where to imagine it might go. I mean,
part of my my TV brain goes, I assume this will disappear once season 2 ends. my unfortunately I
think you’re right. Yeah. Which, you know, is sad because I hope we’re both wrong. Yeah. It would be
it would be a fun subversion if we just discover that like, you know, Yeah. he moves on from Miami
PD or he just stays on the show. I I would love that, too. I mean, like I could just imagine some
situation where like, yeah, just because he’s not in Miami all the time and you know, just because
the case is concluded, maybe they can still It doesn’t mean they can’t still see each other
doesn’t mean they can’t give the long distance thing a try. You know, I’m curious, but I have to
imagine that this is a show where like your Yeah. major guest stars maybe probably only last for
a season in any major way. So, I guess the best thing I could hope for is that they, you know,
keep up, you know, their relationship offcreen or something. I don’t know. But, uh, I mean, we’ll
have to see. It’s definitely interesting. But, you know, how Vince would have answered the
the last part of that question. Do you think Lundy might remind Deb of her father? Oh, well,
I did I I did hear Deb when they were I did hear Deb when they were banging each other. She did
call him daddy. Oh golly. Oh golly. I had to We love Vince around here, guys. Just saying.
CS Lee shout out, baby. But I do like it and I do like the complications of like how do we tell
should we tell the office? And I’m sitting here going like what are even the rules about inter
office romance in a police/FBI investigation? Um, and yeah, their intimate scenes together have been
really lovely when they’re at his apartment. Um, you know, they’re cooking together. Like, yeah, I
think like and their performances back and forth. Like I I I wasn’t kidding like as as much as
there are elements of it that you could argue are problematic. Like I do find the the Deborah
Lundy relationship very lovely and wholesome in a lot of ways. I agree with you. And you know what
I found very interesting as well that Leguarta had that look towards Deb when she said, “You’re
sleeping with London.” It’s like, do you have the moral high ground right now to to question her her
for sleeping with someone when you were sleeping with Pascal’s fiance to get back your job? Which I
I get why you did, but that was so messed up. But yeah. Well, and then it speaks to Lua and where
she’s at at that point in time. She doesn’t really make a thing out of it. Like you can tell that
everyone’s looking is making their comments about Deb, you know, behind her back or whatever. But
like all the stuff with Luerta past that point, especially as it pertains to like when she goes
in to ream her out and it doesn’t go her way, it doesn’t go Deb’s way. And Laguerta is basically
just like I am just concerned for my friend and I’m not going to play any of these other games,
you know, like I I appreciated that for No. And I get it. It was genuine surprise when she made the
comment, but there I I always usually read subtext in each comment. And again, it was just like
about you don’t have the moral high ground to be making a questioning statement right now. But I I
understand. But I think that’s I think it’s partly why they didn’t make a bigger deal out of that. I
think Lua in a previous like earlier in the show, Lua might have made a thing out of that or they
would have gone further to ribbing Deb. Whereas I feel like Lua for as many transgressions
as she’s been responsible for. Yeah. that one little surprise line, then we’ll just leave it at
that. So, we won’t make too big of a deal out of it. Yeah, fair enough. Fair enough. Fun. Fun. All
right. Anyway, thank you for all the questions, guys. Uh, this has been an incredible two episodes
where we’re going to jump right into now episode 11 here. Season 2, episode 11. Here we go. What?
Jennifer Garner is on this show. Was that Was that a Jennifer Garner? I know Christina Richi and
what? Elijah Wood. Elijah Wood. We’ve got to throw a Hillary Swank or the Hillary Swank, not Jennifer
Garner. My B. It is your bee, John. Hey, you’re my bee. All right, guys. We are going to start
season two 11. Let me do that again. All right, guys. We’re going to start season 2, episode
11 of Dexter in a three, two, and a one. Go. I love the increasing amount of gusto
you put into that disguise mother. Oh boy. Oh boy. Oh boy. Oh boy.
Not ready, Andrew. I’m not ready. Left turn ahead. Oh no. Yeah. Throw us
on your left. On your left, John. Hey, I always thought hardening arteries squeezed the
life out of my father, but it was me. Oh man, no. Harry gazed into the eyes of his creation and
saw evil pure and simple. My evil, it killed him. The devil’s eyes. I understood that reference,
John. A [ __ ] about your father. You want to talk about it? About what? That my life is one
tragic mistake. We’ve all felt that at one time or another. I know I have. Jeff going to be stuffing
a human leg into a garbage bag at that point. You want to make a change, Morgan? Now’s the time. All
you got to do is let me out of here. It’s over, man. It is over when I say this. Whoa. There’s
that anger again. That is intense. You got to let that out. I’m flying without a code here. I can
unleash the beast anytime I want. Morgan, you know that’s not the answer. And you know you don’t want
to do that. But it would feel [ __ ] great. Yeah, but you would hate yourself for the rest of your
life. This is crazy. Is he going to become the new Harry? Uh, that would be wild, actually. Like
the present day Harry. All the things Harry taught me. Everything. It’s [ __ ] It’s the only
way I know how to live. God damn. Turn yourself in. Rule number one. Don’t get caught. Don’t get
caught. No, Morgan, you’re spinning. Let me help you. It’s only a matter of time before you hurt
someone else. And I’m not talking about me. I’m talking about your sister or your girlfriend or or
even those kids. Damn. I would never. No, not on purpose. But you can’t control that [ __ ] that’s
growing inside of you, Morgan. It’s like cancer. And in case you haven’t noticed, is spreading.
Oh my god. End it now. Oh my god, dude. He’s got a point. Take responsibility for who you are,
man. We’ll go to the station together. I’ll help you. Oh my god. I want to believe you. Morgan.
Morgan, don’t answer that. Stay with me, man. Who is it? Morgan. I don’t like thisgan. Think
it’s Angel about Laya? I don’t know. Morgan, my name is Dr. Hill. I work at Good Samaritan
Hospital. I’m calling on behalf of Laya Tou. How did you get this number? You were listed as her
emergency contact. Ooh. I’m 2 hours away. Call somebody else. Jesus. Here’s a legal complication.
What? What kind of complication? I can’t discuss it over the phone. You really need to be here.
Jesus. What’s going on? What? This is so Don’t worry. I’ll send the FBI your way soon enough. You
still going to try? I’m kind of down a path here. Oh, what now? The same hospital or to just
trauma at the hospital? Yep. Oh, no. Dad’s heart came out. Oh no. Dexter. Mr. Morgan. Yeah.
I need a second load with him. Okay. I think it was her. I’m sure it was. Why is Angel here? We
found Rohypnol, the tape drug in Lana’s system. A wound to the back of her head. We may be looking
at a case of No. No, that didn’t happen. Has no recollection of what did happen. She requested we
perform. Oh my god. That’s why she slept with him. Oh, this is bonkers. Oh, I don’t like this. That
is so messed up to Angel. He’s the sweetest. Yeah, could ruin his life and he didn’t do anything.
Came to see me. You knew the doctors think ang’s a bit fuzzy. This is desperate. Oh, Christ the
Lord. It won’t work. What are you talking about? I’m just glad you’re here. Missed you so much.
I hate you so much. But she’s a great actress though. For the right reasons. I hate you.
Yes. A+ job. Yeah, she’s doing a great job. Don’t do this. I won’t discharge the chemist. Do
whatever you want. Oh god, that conniving evil look. If you promise to take me back. Can’t you
just let me go? Because I’m your real soulmate. Oh, this I’m so I’m so scared for Reed and the
kids now. Inside and the only one close. Yeah. Oh my god. She looks very determined. You know
that I can never do anything like that. Hey, you don’t even have to say anything. Angel,
warn me about it. But my goodness. Oh, my man. I could lose everything over this. Oh, I
got to choose a person like a real person be like, you a real person. Out of anyone, it would be
you, my man. Angel represents the best of us. Not really sure what that means, but thanks. Thanks.
You got a good heart. You’re pure of spirit. See you in the morning. This guy got tangled in
the middle of this. That sucks. appreciate if you wouldn’t mention this to anyone at the
station. Oh, he definitely won’t. Of course not. No disclosure. I’ve always gone after criminals.
Now I have a fate of two cops in my hands. Yes, Doug was right. The cancer is spreading. Damn,
dude. Wow. We’ve got conscious now, John. We’ve got a set of stakes here. Mission accomplished.
The weapons I tossed into the ocean were found as planned. One more nail in Do’s coffin. Oh [ __ ]
This is FBI. Oh, Max. He just Oh my god. I know he I know what show he’s in, even though I’ve
never seen Breaking Bad. Brought Mike. Frank is in Bever uh Beverly Hills Cop One. The murder weapons
before you were recovered yesterday by a beginning scuba diving class. As predicted, fingerprint
analysis ties them to one James do. This doesn’t prove a goddamn thing. Not now, Maria. Why
wasn’t I brought in on this? You just were, Frank. Yep. This footage was taken 4 days ago at
a mobile station just off Highway 41 southeast of Naples. Ladies and gentlemen, Sergeant James
Dos. We know what he looks like. We have let our target out of control. Let’s not drop the ball
again. Owie. Oh, his foot must or his leg must be like really sore by now. At least he got
his leg day in at least on one foot leg. Oh. [ __ ] Holy [ __ ] He’s a wanted fugitive
right now, but at least he’s out. Oh my god, dude. We have a warrant for Detective Batista’s
arrest. Oh my god, Lyla. I turn sexual assault charges against him. That [ __ ] [ __ ] But it’s
okay. I knew this was coming. Put those away or I’ll up your ass. I love how emotional she is.
What’s going on here? We’ve been asked to bring Detective Batista upstairs for processing. I am
sure that Detective Batista will go along with you peacefully. Laya. Okay, dude. It isn’t my fault.
I warned Angel. Still, I hate to see him disgraced in front of everyone. Oh, she is the worst. And
Lua about to lose her former partner, her friend. God dang, so much chaos. Even Lundy is caught in
Hurricane Dexter’s path of destruction. Maybe this is how evil works, destroying everything
it touches, including my father. He feels like he’s the He feels like he’s the root cause of
everything. My car is stalled on Harper and third. You can come get me. Hang tight. I’ll be right
there. This conspiracy theory. Was that a natural thing that happened with her car? I’m the helpful
handyman. How evil can I possibly be? I’m sparing Rita and Deb by framing jokes, right? Bargaining.
Hey, no. Oh my god. Jesus. Oh no. Surprise. Yeah. Hey. Hey. Over here. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh no. No. No. I don’t want to go to the cabin. I’m a
police sergeant. Miami metro homicide. TC party. Oh no. No. Well, this not No. Oh, no. Damn. Is
Dex going to have to save his ass from escape capture to getting recaptured? The evidence was
there. Something inside me wasn’t convinced he was our guy. So, it was a bad call. We might never
stop it. Stop what? Stop acting like me. Oh, you’re a god. You forget it. Go, Deborah. Take
the minivan. No, I I can’t. It’s too big of an inconvenience. Dexter can teach me. Back at work,
I’ll borrow something from the motorpool. Oh, yeah. That worked well last time. The So, I’ll
make it up to you. Dinner. I’ll dress up in the Laura Croft costume. I have a better idea. Pack a
lunch. Bring the kids. Let me take you out on the ocean tomorrow. The kids have school tomorrow.
Think of it as a field trip. You don’t know Cody’s teacher. It’s just one day. Just one
more day. One more day. Is everything okay, Dexter? Yeah. One day. Okay. After
everything we’ve been through lately, I just want to be together with you
guys. Is that selfish? No. Oh, no. It’s true. Sergeant Dos can rejoice. I come
bearing real food. Surprise, mother. Oh. All right. Oh, boy. Jeez, these guys are
packing. Yeah, they are. Maybe this is gonna help him change his a little bit of his
ideology when he if he saves him. Yeah, I told you those emoting looks. So, they’re the
best. This is so funny. Oh, no. Coen. Coena. Suck my You understand that [ __ ] Hey, I love
them working together. This is so cool. This is fun. This is Whoa. Dexter using a gun. That’s
right. I mean, he’s a crack shot. Friends of yours. From what I can tell, they’re friends with
that drug dealer. They would have killed me once I had all that poke on the boat. Thanks, Morgan.
Thanks, Morgan. Oh, that was very that felt nice to hear. Oh, this is awkward. Oh no, dude. Oh no.
I think we made some alligators very happy. Oh, they threw the guys to the house. Oh god, I guess.
Yeah. What else do you do with them? Yeah, you told me. Take responsibility for what I am. You
were right. Harry killed the wrong person. Morgan, you’re not thinking about No, that’s pathetic.
Oh, golly. But I can’t live in this house of cards anymore. Waiting for it all to fall down. I
need to do something. You know what do we do? I’m thinking about turning myself in. Oh my. That’s
a good call. Yeah, that’s a tough call. That’s a good call, man. God, I need some [ __ ] relief.
What? Yeah, you can’t keep running, man. You’re just going to end up in exactly the same situation
sooner or later. Prison. Oh boy. Could finally get some sleep. In the long run, it’ll be easier on
Deb. A Rita. Oh golly. Better than watching me dragged down like an animal. Oh no. Which, let’s
face it, will happen someday. No. Yeah. We’ll do it together. I’ll go with you. Come on. Let’s
go. Oh my god. What? What is this going to be? If I do this, I need a day to get my affairs
in order. That’s fine. Tie me up. Throw me in the trunk. I brought supplies. Fresh fruit.
Make sure you mention that when they interview you for the story of my life. God damn it,
Morgan. You’re not going to leave me in this cage again. Are you? Anything could happen.
Come on. What are you doing? I think you’ve seen the worst of that. Dixon. Oh, I really
conversations, James. I don’t think he’s ever called him by his first name. I lie to everyone
I know except my victims right before I kill them. It’s hard to establish much of a rapport
there. Sure. Sorry about the cage. Yeah, Morgan. Goosebumps and the chills. Hey, Deb, it’s
me. What are you doing tonight? I’m about to get off work. Why? Why? She It sounded almost
aggressive how she answered that. I’ve got some papers I need you to sign. Papers? What kind of
papers? What? Huh? How’s Angel doing? What do you think he’s doing? You know, it’s your fault
he’s in this mess with you and Alvirra. Ooh, hellfire. Not the best brother, am I? Fix, are
you smoking something? No. Why do you ask? I’ve always been curious to try. Do you have any
weed? Okay, now I’m really worried. Wasn’t he on weeds? I think six feet under. No, also that.
But you have got to fight back, dude. Morgan’s right. You got to man up, get tough. Loves a
battlefield. Or in your case, restraining order. Angel with me as the evidence seems to indicate.
Then you should face the consequences. After tomorrow, I won’t be around anymore. So,
there’s no end game in this for you. You’re going somewhere. It’s looking more and more
likely. You could say that. Tell me. I have a right to know. You’re the one who told me about
accepting the things you can’t change. This is one of those things. Jeez. Bye, Lyla. God, he looks
positively giddy. Yay. I’m worried about Batista. This is so [ __ ] There’s no way I’m going to let
him take the fall for this. What can you do? Well, special agent Lundy, who can you do? I was
wondering if you might access those great big FBI files of yours. Oh, Miss Li attorney. Oh, John,
you called that earlier. Say she has no warrants, no criminal record. Do you think she has a a
different name? Nothing with the DMV and no social security number. What about uh visas or green
cards or whatever? Okay. She’s not real. Nothing. No records. Okay. Okay. That’s impossible.
Everyone has a paper trail. Nope. Not this one. Everyone real? Yeah. She’s a hallucination.
Sneaky [ __ ] She’s using an alias. That would be my guess. Well, how do I find out Yla’s real name?
I think you know the answer to that. Go shake her down. Cut off her head. Look for a label. Lol.
That’s right. There’s probably an easier way. Oh my god, dude. Dude, what do you think she is
wanted for? I don’t even want to know. She had to use an alias. She’s probably like a serial
arsonist murderer. Yeah. Last time Yla was in my apartment, she microwaved some popcorn. There’s
definitely going to be clicks on this. Next time, make her a cup of tea. A spot of tea. I met with
a lawyer yesterday, and he helped me prepare a living trust that gives you control of all my
assets in the event of my death. She’s like, “Why are we having this conversation?” God,
go away. This is creepy. The financial planner said a guy my age should have a will. It’s
just a precaution. We’re all going to die eventually. Mhm. That’s morbid. True that.
Okay. Yeah. Stopped by Laya’s this morning. Yeah. And I talked to her. I don’t think she’s
going to be a problem. Yeah. I don’t know. I’m free tonight. You want to stop by? I’ll pick up
some beer, throw in a couple of steaks. There’s something I want to talk to you about. Throwing
some Canadian bacon eggs. Didn’t he have some stakes with Biny in last season? I could use a
new TV. Hey. Oh. Oh, is Prince Luerta here? Yeah. Do was looking for a lab to have them analyzed.
Why? I don’t know why. If he’s our killer, he’d be keeping them for trophies. He’d have no reason
to have them analyzed. Well, I’m not sure Leonus is our most reliable witness. No, but it’s worth
looking into, isn’t it? Mhm. His gut is telling him, “Yes.” Yes, it is. Yes, it is. For starters,
why don’t you uh brief me on both those missions? Hey, we’re both on the back foot now. I again
efforts. I don’t know what’s going to happen. Maybe they can pin it on Laya. Who knows? That
would be awesome, man. That would be sick. I mean, if she’s really a arsonist murderer with when they
find out. Who knows? Gale Force 3 slice of life. Oh, there sea lions. Okay, so she’s under the
impression he’s going away forever with them, not to prison. Yeah. Oh, what are you doing?
Going out to uncharted waters to start a new life on an island. Not if I have anything to
say about it. Oh no, did you leave the window cracked? Nor. Ignore. Oh no. No. Welcome to the
GPS 3000 tracker. Previous destinations. Christ the Lord. No. No thank you. No thank you. Hate
that. Oh boy. Hate that. Rita. I’ve never been a very good boyfriend. I wouldn’t say that. I just
need you to know that you and the kids are very important to me. Absolutely are. I want you to
have this. Is that a trust? It’s a pink slip. Oh, I told you everything’s okay. You don’t. Please.
I want you to have it for the kids. It’ll keep them safer than broken down convertible. A
I know I’ve been taking things slow with us, but it’s not because I don’t have
feelings for you. It’s more like I have too many feelings and I just want to
make sure to get it right. Yeah, me too. Oh, this really sweet scene. Turns out her real
name is Llaya West. Ran her prints for the AFIS, which is tied to IC. Get this. My visa expired
2 years ago. Bad girl. I can have her deported. Oh my god. No. Not as easy as it sounds.
Is that Is that the extent? Maybe not back then. Wow. I thought I lived in a [ __ ] ton.
I like how it’s starting. I want you to leave Miami tonight. Don’t ever come back. Don’t ever
contact Angel or Dexter again. Mhm. Why would I listen to you? Cuz I’m a cop and you’re here on
an expired visa. I know your real name and I’ve contacted immigration officers will be here
any day now. They’ll arrest you and deport you and it will not be pretty. This is true.
Why? Jesus. Whether you leave on your own or immigration halls your sorry ass away, I don’t
give a [ __ ] But I don’t want to give you one more day to [ __ ] with the people I care about.
I want to see the look on your face. I want you gone tonight. You don’t want to do this. It’s
done tonight. Hate this. Love it, but hate it, but love it. What the hell is going to Previous
destinations starting route guidance. Left turn ahead. That’s not to do, is it? Where do you
think it’s Dev? I’m the Bay Harbor Butcher. Whoa. Never mind. Never mind. Oh my god.
I that okay lol. Okay. On the ground. I’m the Bay Harbor butcher. No. I love this. And the
music. The butcher. Whoa. This isn’t going to be easy. Oh my god. I brought extra beer. We’re
getting drunk. Hey, maybe that’s the time to tell her when she’s drunk. Yeah. What’s the
occasion? I ran Lyla out of town today. No, turns out she’s here illegally. You should have
seen me, Dex. I was like an old west sheriff. You were You were pretty boss. By the way, John,
there’s bread sticks. Feeling good. Oh, can I get you a bread? Yes. There’s a reaction we did, guys.
Inside. We did a happy Gilmore 2 earlier today. The first time since all that ice truck killer
[ __ ] I feel like I’m back and improved even. Oh. Oh my god. All that stuff was happening with
Rudy. Rudy, did you ever consider doing something drastic? Are you kidding? All kinds of [ __ ] up
[ __ ] went through my head. Thank god I had you. Oh, every time I started to spin out of control,
I had you to grab on to. You let me live here for practically forever. It’s tough though. I’ve done
almost anything to get out from under the weight of it all. Sure. How’d you finally do it? Oh boy.
Oh boy. Oh boy. Just saw through it. You decide who you are, who you want to be, and you hold on
to that. Write it out. You are who you choose to be. Now choose, John. Superman. You are absolutely
right. Is an honest to goodness. What are you going to talk to me about anyway about that? Let’s
delay it another couple seasons. Nothing. Oh god. Nothing at all. Seriously though, I can’t wait
till that reveal one day does happen. Harry may have rejected me, but Deb clearly believes in
me, so why shouldn’t I? I’m not turning myself in. This isn’t Harry’s life. Sorry, Dos. I made a
plan to frame Dos, and I’m going to stick with it. Oh my god. I Laya probably just threw a curveball
in your plan, though. Okay, I’m on the way. What happened? They found Do’s [ __ ] rental car. What?
They thought Really? His car? Did they find Dos? No, not yet. But the search grid’s closing in.
Come on, we got to get to station. Actually, I got to make sure they don’t find doses in
a cage. I love you. Hey. Hey, I’m in here. I It sound like a Jeep. That’s got to be Laya.
Hate this. Anybody out there? Anybody out there? Route guidance. Oh, this is this
is going to be weird. Hate this. Somebody in there. Weird. What are you?
You have arrived at your destination. What? Oh, what? Dude, don’t go.
Luckily, we get to watch it right now, though. That we do. Yes. All right. I’m
nervous to press the button. You You got press the button. Yeah. All right.
We’re going to get into season 2, episode 12, guys. Absolutely. Hey, the British
invasion. Let’s go. Hello. Who’s out there? I need some help. Get me out of
here. Oh my god. Oh. Oh my god. Kathy Bates left that there. Yeah.
Are you afraid to face Do? Yes, of course I’m afraid to face him. And
I have dishes to do. Uh uh. It’s Doses. You hate the guy. I used to. I can’t even
afford to think of him as a person anymore. If they find doses locked inside a cage, it will
seriously undermine my frame job. Yeah. Yeah. And then some. I need to beat them to that cabinet.
Oh my god. Is that a 2-hour drive? He said, right? Yeah. Waiting out there in the Everglades
are hordes of county sheriff, search parties, and ravenous reptiles. Corner wearing dark trunks.
The mighty Dexter. Dark Trunks. I need a miracle. Oh my god. No. God damn. See another face.
I never thought I would. Jesus. I’m Sergeant James Dos. Miami Metro Homicide. Who put you
in there? Psycho. A [ __ ] psycho. Grab that key right behind you on the wall. Who is he?
His name is Dexter Morgan. Jesus. Why would he do that? Put you in there. Because I found out
that he’s a [ __ ] Bay Harbor butcher. Please just open this [ __ ] gate. The butcher. That’s
what I’ve been trying to tell you. Oh my. What’s in there? Exactly what you think it is. It’s
evidence. Oh, that smell must be awful. Poor thing. I’m all alone. Oh, no. Don’t do it, dude.
Don’t. I’m okay. Just open the gate. Not you, Dexter. Oh my. Yeah. when he realized hiding
such an enormous secret. What a burden that’s got to be. Oh no. So shut down. Oh my god. What
are you accomplish? The contrast from I think I’m getting out of here to what the hell are you?
My soulmate. Oh my god. Yeah, he’s praying for death now. He’s like let it end. Let it end.
Dude, Eric King is such a damn good actor. Oh my god, dude. No. Oh, cruel. Although
he could easily That’s not that. I mean, I don’t know how he’s You’ll
be an accessory. Oh my god. No. Oh, Nikes. What the are you doing? Holy
crap. Oh my god. This is murder. Oh, please. Not do jokes. Please, please,
please, please, please. Oh my god. Oh, please get out. Oh my god. No. You
got the key, man. You got the key. Oh, Christ. Oh cra. I have I I have
no idea what to expect from the end of this season anymore. Yeah. Oh, I
don’t see how any of this can resolve. Yeah, I know what you said. Oh my god. Holy [ __ ] John Woo directed that shot. That’s right. Oh
my god. To s Please tell me he survived. I mean, he was a combat veteran. I don’t know. Can’t
be the first explosion he’s been a part of. Nice transition. Hey, Dexter Morgan, Miami Metro
PD forensics. I’m here to join the search for the Bay Harbor Butcher. Search is on hold right
now until they sort out the confusion. Take a right at the fork. Park outside the
line of fire trucks. Confusion requires fire trucks. I love how he’s confused about the
confusion. When something beyond reason happens, it turns skeptics into believers. Sure. Believers
in a higher power. But what kind of power did this? Power of Laya. What happened? They think
a propane tank exploded. How? Look like a fire chief. Did they find a body? Just bits and pieces
so far. Oh, the one the body that he uh was it spontaneous combustion? Divine intervention.
Uh, if you believe that God makes miracles, you have to wonder if Satan has a few up his
sleeve. Hey. Yes, sir. But when you don’t believe in anything, who do you thank? Thank yla. I
guess we got a photo. Whoa. Who we got? Oh, we got liftoff separation. Wow. Gaping areas
of pulpified tissue. Oh my. Extensive fourth degree burns. Fourth degree. Big ass [ __ ]
explosion. What else can he give us? These linear lines around his eyes are unburned.
He was squinting alive when it happened. Oh. Oh boy. Done on record should give us a positive
ID. God damn. Is it dope? Male African-American. What? Whoa. About the right length torso. Heavily
muscled. What? I think it’s him. I’ve never seen Mazuka so professional. Oh my god. This is where
the butcher did his dirty work. That’s a perfect location for a kill room. Doesn’t get any more
remote than this. Oh boy. This is good news, gentlemen and lady. Right. Keep the search on till
we get a firm ID on that body in the water. Right. You agree with him? The evidence is compelling.
Yeah, he still doesn’t agree. Overwhelming, actually. Which means I don’t agree. My gut’s
telling me it’s not toes. I uh I wouldn’t if I were you. Oh, is it James? They don’t know yet,
dude. Until we get a positive ID, I’m I can’t believe I actually contemplated turning myself
in. Oh, this is so much better than a prison cell. We are getting some of that B-roll. Orange juice.
Let’s go. A fine French roast. Fun. Grab a morning workout. Where are the credits? I know. Working
out I could have done in prison, but still. I’m free. Finally got a place to use that stuff. Oh
my god. Fun. This is like very a cathartic moment for him. Yeah. I figured the kids were still
asleep. I didn’t want to ring the bell. That’s Terara’s job. Ring the bell. Why are you here?
Well, I figured the kids were still asleep. Oh. So this is what freedom feels like. Unexpected.
Yeah, I wound up with some unexpected time on my hands. Yes. Like 20 years to life. Jeez.
So glad they’re taking things slowly. I don’t know if this is a good idea to text
her. I was just getting used to you from a distance. I know you’ve been working. Oh, how
come you’re still in bed? I overslept. Will you make us pancakes, please? What’s
under there? Christ. Oh no. Oh no. A hi Dexter. A cute scene. Are you guys back
together? Uh, right now we are. Oh, dude. Again, I’m just so worried psychologically what’s
going to happen to Reed and the kids if she does something to them. Hate this. Hate this because
the recap kind of just showed something messed up is coming. Oh my god. Wow, Dexter, you have never
looked so artsy. That is quite a piece. Ever heard of Lake Hippo Wash? I’ve not heard. Have you? Nor
can’t say that I have. Wonderful ice fishing. Very romantic. Fine. We have a positive idea. Oh. Oh,
there may be an additional date which puts him out of the country. The burn victim is Sergeant
Dos. Wow. Dental records confirmed it. Oh, wow. I can’t believe we went there. Somehow
I didn’t think he was going to die. I didn’t either. And the other body, Joseé Garza, a murder
fugitive living. They went this route. Wow. The body was dismembered. Oh my god. Other victims.
Wow. Deputy Director Adams is close. I see. Oh, poor thing. All the evidence points to James
Dos as the Bay Harbor Butcher conclusively. Oh no. Oh no. Oh, that’s so sad. Thought I heard
somebody say the explosion was a propane accident. Right. Stokes accidentally turned on the propane
valve and then he accidentally turned the stove on. Stove was on. It was in the official
fire investigators report this morning. Oh, I think he’s starting to put two and two together.
I guess it could be that Dos didn’t realize fire and gas are a bad combo. Oh yeah, he’s putting
it together. A badass like dogs would rather burn than get burned. It’s a good line for my
movie. Oh my god. Of course, of course you have a screenplay. Oh no. Oh no. No. No. No. No. No.
No. She left a calling card somewhere. The GPS. The GPS maybe. Yeah. As bad. Say that as you were
saying it. I just checked. I didn’t see any GPS device in the minivan Dexter. Did you check the
glove box? It’s gray rectangular. It’s about the size of a paperback book. If someone stole my GPS,
it would have led them straight to do who I know with a nasty habit of stealing. Put it together.
Laya, my miracle worker. Oh, is this gives me a Jaws Jaws vibe? Oh my god. Good visual reference
to Jaws. Literally into the belly of the beast. Keep pulling there. Right through the jaws.
Right through the teeth. Glad you called. Was afraid maybe you’d left town. Seems I found a good
reason to stay. I want new victim. You mean you? That would be fascinating. That’s why
you asked to meet at the aquarium public place. Thought I was going to slip my needle into your neck. Is that how you do it? That’s
how it starts. It’s one of the ways this I know. I’m with you. Beautiful place
to do this. You’re afraid of me now, aren’t you? I think just the opposite.
Been afraid of you, Dexter. She’s obsessed. Why? The first time I saw you, I could see how
hopelessly consumed you were by your need. You lied to me. pet. All that time as my sponsor,
you said all you wanted was to help me control my addiction. Way to control that. That’s
not what you really wanted, was it? What do you think I wanted? To know what it’s like to feel
something that deeply. Oh, I love how he’s finally able to deconstruct her own recovery groups. It’s
like fight club. You’re emotionally colorblind. You use the right words. You panime the right
behavior. The feelings never come to pass. You’re a sociopath. Enough. They’re primitive responses.
Immediate needs. You know all the words, but you can’t hear the music. Oh, what a bar. I’m just
like you. Now I see under your mask. Yeah. Oh, the cra. No. Hey. Oh. Hate that. Like teenagers.
I was down to my last hope. So was I. When he told me who you are, I thought that was a secret worth
protecting. Please don’t have Rita and the kids show up by accident. Of all the places. Yeah.
I mean, but that could happen. Brilliant. More like my father than I ever imagined. I’ve
created a monster of my own. H. Oh no. Oh, I don’t I don’t like this. I don’t know what
to make of this. I’m in now and I’m not going anywhere. No. Go. Even with Bill’s gone, I’m
starting to think it’s too dangerous for me here. I need to move on. Disappear. I’ve already
said my goodbyes. Let me come with you. No. Go home and pack. I’ll call you tomorrow. Yeah.
You ain’t going nowhere. I can’t wait. Oh, you’re going away with me. All right. Yes.
In a garbage bag. Last loose. Oh my god, the expression changed. I dropped by her house
last night and told her to haul her slag ass out of town before she’s deported. Swag ass did
that for me. Of course. A But you and for Dex, you two window lickers needed somebody to snap you
out of town. Window lickers. Oh, Angel. It’s good to know somebody’s pulling for you when you Yeah,
man. You attracted that, my man. Excuse me. Uh, donations can be made directly to me. Donations
for Sergeant Delta’s memorial service. Oh, man. No. You got to be kidding. I feel so terrible
for this guy for fellow officer. Oh my god, dude. That’s so sad. Actually, I just wanted
to offer my support, sympathy, or whatever the [ __ ] if you want to talk. A Thank you,
Morgan. I can manage. I’m not so sure. I mean, you’re collecting money to honor a killer. No,
I’m not honoring the butcher. I’m honoring James jokes. Yeah, man. Oh, it’s strange to have a
creation out there. A deeply mutated version of yourself running loose and screwing everything
up. I wonder if this is how parents must be. Jeez. Is it Deb or it’s got to be Deb, right? I I
don’t know. Oh no. Oh no. Deb. Oh no, Deb. What are you doing here? I left town. Yeah, me
too. And if she was still here, you were going to what? Wrestle her out? Jesus. But we’re
here. Oh, no. Come to say goodbye. Actually, we came to see that you cleared out. But now that
we see you’re on your way, we’re good to go. What? Think that’s my bag. I must have left it last
time I was here. No, I’m pretty sure it’s mine. [ __ ] Damn it. Hate this. Hate this. Hate
this. Well, maybe he wanted to make some steak on the road. Yeah. Uh, she realized she was
targeted for termination or shermination. Yes. No. Yeah, she she just put two and two together.
When do we leave? Not we. Me. Deborah. I just got a call from DC. A pattern of bodies was identified
in Oregon. My flight leaves tonight. You got to be [ __ ] kidding me. I wish I were. Weekend
visits and redeye flights and frequent flyer plans. Let me get my calendar. No, no, no. Do
you honestly want to go down this path? You’re right. I don’t. Long-distance relationships
never work out. Not even in the movies. A It’s just a job. It’s more than that to you. Okay.
I love my job, but not as much as I love. Oh, Deborah, being with you. Take the afternoon
and think about this. You do me a favor and buy me a goddamn ticket on your flight. I’m going
home to pack and I’ll see you at the airport. Oh, okay. Oh, boy. Yeah. Real mature. Wow. Wild
boy. I received a phone call from a woman says she’s a friend of yours. Who? She wouldn’t
give her name. British accent. It claims to have vital information on the Bay Harbor butcher.
Any idea who she might be? This is the same woman who tried to railroad a Batista. You might want to
avoid her. Not a chance. Now, this case is closing and I can’t afford to leave any loose ends.
Christ the Lord. If Laya plans to turn me in, why would she drop my name to the captain and
give me a chance to intercept her? It doesn’t make sense. Unless she wants me here so she can
hurt me some other way. Yeah, where are the kids? I can’t remember. Oh my god. Call Dev. She’ll
have the entire force looking for them. You see, if any of the neighbors saw anything, I’ll drive
around the area. I promise we’ll find them. Dude, this is so messed up. The Cody and Aster are
missing. Did you call the police? The Dexter said to call you. You just sit by the phone. I’ll take
it from here. All right. God damn it. Oh, poor Tab. Hey guys, you having fun? Super fun. Lyla is
so nice. Where is Lyla? I’m over here hiding in the flames. Could have had it all decked up. Could
have had it all. Oh my god, dude. Oh my god. Wow. Oh my god. You first. You’re
going to help your brother. Oh my god. Run. Find help.
Come on, Dexter. I can’t fit. This is terrifying. Oh my goodness gracious me.
Wa. What do you remember from before? You know, before we took you in. Nothing. Good.
Because what happened was too strong. Sonic got into you too early and it’s
going to stay there. It’s going to make you want to kill. Oh my. And you
won’t be able to stop. Damn. That’s a poor tent. So I’m going to be like
this forever. Yes. It’s who you are. Is that maybe a way to escape there? He’s
looking like the Green Goblin. Hey. Yeah, with the fire, too. That’s You’re out of
your mind, Gabby. Oh, nicely done. Damn. Speed ramping. Nice. Oh, no. Actually, I was
wrong. Flight 180. Yes. Flight 180. Of course, it’s over now. They’re safe. You’re safe. That’s
all that matters. Damn. You were taking this well. You’re a perimeter and have the fire chief
come see me as soon as he gets here. Okay. Oh, poor Deb. How’d you know the kids were here?
One of the neighbors saw them walking with a strange woman. It wasn’t much of a leap. It’s
pretty impressive. It seems it wasn’t too long ago I was taking care of you. H I’ve never
been one to put much weight into the idea of a higher power. But if I didn’t know
better, I’d have to believe that some force out there wants me to keep doing what I’m
doing. It’s that Jesus drawing from season one. Boo. Whoa. Surprise, [ __ ] I’m coming f with my
legs and my body. I gave you a concentrated dose. Final epidural instead of the tranquilizer.
I’ve got a plane to catch. Damn. Did you try to kill the children for me? Don’t do this.
You taught me to accept what I am. Oh my god. And to trust in the one thing I know without
my clarity. God, dude. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh boy. Wow. That is quite a
striking image. Loose ends tied. just right in the body bag. Not long ago, I had
a dream that people could see me for what I am. And for a brief instant in time, the world
actually saw my bodies of work. So sad about cheered. A. But as it turns out, nobody mourns
the wicked. I hope Deb is here with Luora. No, she’s not. Oh, I feel bad for you that from
the start. That’s why he gave me a code. I’m glad Daxter came. It cost him his life, but it
kept me alive through incredible trials. The code is mine now and mine alone. So too are the
relationships I cultivate. Wow. They’re not just disguises anymore. I need them. Even if they make
me vulnerable. Wow. My father might not approve, but I’m no longer his disciple. I’m a master
now. An idea transcended into life. Jesus. And so this is my new path which is a
lot like the old one only mine. Yeah, Dexter’s code. Stay on that path. I need starting
a new one. Code of Dexter. Am I evil? Am I good? I’m done asking those questions. I don’t have
the answers. A justified genius. Does anyone frame? Wow. Oh my god. Wow. Donald, we did it. We
did it. Holy crap. That was That was wild. What an What an intense season. Uh anyways guys, that
was season two and we just watched Yeah, we just watched episodes 9, 10, 11, and 12. And uh thank
you for joining us for the whole thing. That was an incredible ride. And uh make sure you do all
the YouTube stuff. Share the video. Hit that like button. Don’t forget to ring that notification
bell. That way you are notified whenever we drop videos such as these. Special thanks to the fine
folks over at Prepper for going through all the blood spatter of these videos and just editing
them all down. It’s tough and we appreciate all their hard work. And uh if you don’t mind giving
us a rating on Apple or Spotify of five stars, we would appreciate it. We’re going to kick off
this review with some of your questions over with our Royal Rejects. We like to kick off the reviews
by interacting with you guys. So yeah, let’s get right into it. Chiming in. Hey. Alrighty. So,
as we always do in our reviews, we let you guys kick it off by asking us questions. So, we’ve
got a few here, or quite a few. So, we’re going to hand we’ve got a handful of blood spatter of
questions. So, we are going to get right into them once finds them here. God, once I find the
bottom of the page, the bottom of the page here. Goodness gracious. We got a ton of questions here.
Yes, we do. So, all right. We’re going to try and, you know, spend a substantial amount of time on
each one, but since there are so many and this can’t, you know, this is probably going to be a
long discussion anyway. So, uh, yeah, bear with us. And the video is going to be longer than all
four reviews or reactions combined. Yeah. Well, maybe. You never know. We’ll see. All right. Uh,
let’s see. Rejects says Nick C. Thank you, Nick, for chiming in as I rearrange the desk here for
maximum visibility. Nick wants to know or has this to say. Rejects, thank you for reacting to Dexter.
Thank you for watching. This has been an absolute uh blast, a joy. It’s been inspiring. It’s been
twisted. All that good stuff. Uh seriously, one of my favorite shows. Uh continues, Nick. My
question is how you guys felt about Dexter killing another person who accepts him and his dark
passenger. Is it because he sees them as only uh only only as killers and can’t get past his
code? Or is it that he just can’t accept anyone who sees his dark past? Interesting. I mean,
yeah, obviously we we remember what happened with Biny and how much that hurt him to do in the
previous season cuz like uh Brian, his brother, saw him for who he really is and he could be
himself around him. So, we know how much and also he finally got his brother back, some of them from
his his past, right? So, we know how much that really hurt him. And I I think though in regards
to Laya, like you you you ask a very fascinating question. I don’t disagree with it, but I think
like I think with Laya, like her fate was like he gave her ample amount of opportunities to walk
away. He gave her stern warnings. I think once she kidnapped the children, Rita’s kids, cuz those
kids mean a great deal to him. They humanize him a great amount. And so once she kidnapped the kids
and put him in the I think it was her her place, right? And she lit the place on fire and left all
three of them for dead. I think her fate was kind of sealed at that point. So there is no like,
hey, does she accept him as or does he accept uh like not accept Dark Passenger? Throw all that
out the door. She She’s a goner at that point. I I did think for a moment like, wow, is this going to
be a a character that’s looming off like into next season? I thought that was a possibility that they
were going to do which would have been definitely fascinating but I understand the resolve to just
nope he’s going to follow her into the depths of wherever she goes and obviously it was Paris on
flight 180 of course that’s right but yeah no I mean final destination yeah I mean code or no code
like once once the kids’ lives were at stake and she did that and to him of course like she was a
goner yeah I would say that I don’t think that It would I don’t think it has to do as much with the
fact that it’s somebody who could you know see his true nature the dark passenger what have you. I
think it’s yeah the like the real question mark of this is is the prospect of dos is his whole
like you know debate over what to do about you know obviously the code frequently kind of
derails that plan of like I can’t actually hurt this guy because you know he’s not he
doesn’t fit the criteria doesn’t fit the bill. Uh Laya. Yeah. It’s like I think you’re right. He
gave her ample opportunity to uh to turn back to, you know, just let it go and and move on. And
she didn’t do that. And uh and it’s clear that while she does, you know, see and have sympathy
for, you know, the dark passenger within him, she also has her own. And and hers is wild and
chaotic and tenacious in its own way. And yeah, at a certain point she does so many awful things
that it’s like, well, you kind of got to go, you know, it’s like after what she does
to Angel, after what she does to the kids, after what she does to, you know, the people she’s
burnt up in fires that we know about and I mean, do in context of her. Yeah. What she did to
Do Oh, well, yeah. I mean, yeah. I mean, yeah, she’s responsible for Sorry. There’s so much in
this. Uh, yeah. No, no, no. aftermath of course. I apologize. I didn’t mean to cut you. I was just
help I was just adding a little to you. I was just saying granted like she did it for a cause. Like
it was to help Dexter, you know, in order to be free. Granted, she did that, but obviously like
Do is a character we love. But sorry, continue. No. Yeah. It’s like I don’t think that her um uh
what was I going to say? It’s like her interest in Dexter feels very selfish and so yeah, it’s like
anything that could be sort of interpreted as like no no like it’s because I see you and because I
want to help you. I feel like a lot of that you could kind of uh, you know, rebuke with the simple
fact that like she’s constantly manipulating him and and whenever he pulls away, she does these
outrageous things to pull him back in and seems to really want to wrap him around her finger and
have her be the center of his world. And so yeah, it’s like I think it’s just unfortunate that she
is the way she is because yeah, it’s like if she was a, you know, she wasn’t prone to arson and
murder to some extent and various other, you know, forms of miscreants. Uh, if that’s a word, uh, you
know, yeah, I think there could be a conversation about, you know, I feel like she would be alive
and and able to just, you know, kind of be one of his outlets for, you know, figuring all this stuff
out. But uh I don’t think it’s so much about him being bound by the co I don’t I don’t think it’s
so much about him uh you know being spooked that people see the dark passenger. I think it’s more
that yeah she’s gone way too far. All these you know Brian her they’ve gone way too far. They fit
the mold. Yeah. you know, you’ve got a person like who certainly he considers killing in various ways
and certainly, you know, sets up and uses, but even that he’s not like responsible for because he
keeps coming back to the whole like he doesn’t fit the code thing. Um, so yeah, I think it’s and Dos
obviously sees him is I guess what I’m trying to get at with that is that Dos sees him, sees the
dark passenger, has always known something else lurks within Dexter. So uh you know his grappling
with what to do about doses I think is sort of proof that it’s more about the code than it is for
sure being seen. Yeah totally. And just one other observation the three people he’s been I wouldn’t
say close to dos but just he’s had a history with he knows very well but he was close with Lyla. He
was of course you know was his biological brother with By. three people who know him the most like
know what he really is. All three of them like you know had very dark fates uh happened upon them.
So it’s going to be fascinating to see in the next because there’s eight eight seasons, right?
Is that what there is? I don’t know. However many season however many seasons there are. Yeah.
However many seasons there are. It’s going to be fascinating because obviously we don’t know what
happens you and I because we have not watched the show. It’s going to be fascinating whether it’s
Rita, Deb, or Laguarta, whoever learns the truth about Dexter. Are they going to actually survive?
And then like how do they or Angel because we know how much Angel adores Dexter, that’s his best
friend. It’s going to be fascinating if these characters actually get to survive like how do
they react to this situation? Do you just move on and like I know Dexter. Well, no, I really don’t.
Oh, wow. This guy’s a vigilante. Even though it’s kind of like, you know, he’s like an anti-hero,
but it’s like it’s going to be fascinating to see like if when they actually keep a character alive
that knows the real Dexter. I’m very fascinated to see how that works when you you think you know
someone but then you don’t. How do you react to that? So, I’m I’m curious to see how that works.
Yeah. It’s like it’s sad that he has to do this to somebody who sees and accepts him. Um, but
yeah, I don’t think it’s so much about because, you know, like Harry saw and accepted him to a
degree. I mean, Harry sculpted him and at least accepted him to enough of a degree that that, you
know, he could mentor him. So, I mean, you know, obviously there’s some degree of acceptance there.
Agreed. Stop chopping up that body in the thing at least, right? Yeah. Or at least in that moment,
just stay away from me and we don’t, you know, know more context because I’m sure there might be
a twist on that. Who knows? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And it’s, you know, though there are lots of nuanced
discussions you could have about uh the context and and you know where the actual line is in terms
of yeah seeing and accepting, right? But uh but yeah, I like you know bring bring this question
back I think where we could revisit this question if it some point there is a character who like
clearly knows clearly sees clearly understands and accepts and isn’t you know breaking the code
you know then my curiosity will be peaked again because I’ll be like that’s is there some kind
of that’s a great point if it does break the code and someone does see him for who he is that would
be very fascinating to see totally agree with you like what do you do in that situation. Absolutely.
Yeah. And what are they going to do about that, you know? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Totally. Does it
mean that they can see him? But thank you for your Thank you, Nick. That’s an interesting
thing to entertain. Absolutely. All right, Lindsay Dede. Dude, either one, let us know.
Thank you for chiming in. Thank you, John and Andrew. I hope you’ve been enjoying I hope you’ve
been loving, forgive me, season two. So far, we have both seasons confirmed. Did you expect for
the show to deal with Dexter almost being caught so early or that they would get rid of a character
as prominent as do in season 2? Have fun in season 3. Lindsay, thank you Lindsay for the question for
being a royal reject. We appreciate it. I think you know my answer on toes. I was shipping that
relationship so hard with them and Deb. And just in in regards to jokes to jokes to jokes, I think
this show did such a good I’ll answer in half a second here, but I just want to say that they did
such a good job. I know we’ve mentioned this a couple times. Like in the first episode, like I
feel like we’re going to hate this character and then within an episode or two I’m like, “Oh, I’m
loving this cat and mouse like interaction. Like I I I know you’re not what you seem.” And it’s
just he he was a car a character that had so many layers about him. the more you got into his
backstory and the more they developed him. He’s such a fascinating character. And Eric King,
is that his name, right? Yes. Yes, I believe so. He just brings so much gravitas, so much presence,
and he’s also extremely damn charming as well. I just the way he emotes is I I just there’s so much
about him I adore as an actor and as a character. And to say like I’m saddened by his uh his
apparent exit from the show as a character, as an actor, is like undercutting how I really
feel. Like I’m really devastated. I We’ll have to see what happens as we go along cuz I know the
first four seasons are so damn adored by the, you know, a great deal of people. So I’m curious where
we go with the storyline here. But I’m extremely devastated. Not because of my my stupid prediction
with him and Debb being shipped. Whatever. I just love this character so much. So I was definitely
shocked. Although John brought up the point a couple times which I agreed with him. We have
passed a lot of points of no returns and Dos is really a nononsense type of guy. So if you don’t
kill him in that situation which again really broke my heart into 50 billion different pieces
to do. I don’t know what you do there because he’s not going to let he’s not going to let go. He’s
not gonna allow Dexter to just walk like he’s a man who believes in the law and is going to follow
that very like he’s a he’s got a code of doses if you will and he’s just not gonna let he’s not
going to let Dexter just walk around even if again we might agree with what Dexter is he’s getting
rid of the filth of the world and he’s probably saving innocent lives in the future as a result
of doing this you know what I mean and he’s doing what the cops can’t do as but as of saying that
to is just not going to allow that to to be like He will not let Dexter walk around free. So if
you don’t go that route, I don’t know what would happen to Dexter. So I understand why they had to
make that unfortunate choice. Yeah. Like it it it pushes the story. It pushes the story forward. So
what? Yeah, it does. It it speaks to that again willingness not to pull punches to me. I mean like
I I am fascinated by the choice because again I don’t know how much of a you know deal they had at
the time as you know I feel like we live in a time now where more things get picked up for multiple
seasons whereas you know I remember a time where it seemed like you know you would kind of have to
wait till partway through your show to know if you were going to get picked up again or not even if
you’re on cable. Um, so part of me wonders, yeah, if they were just like, damn, we got a season two.
Let’s, you know, throw everything at this again, not pull any punches. Uh, I am surprised and I do
see how you could have made this again like season 7’s stakes or some other later, you know, period
stakes. Um, because, you know, it’s certainly such a wallup. But as it stands, I mean, I think
it’s really bold to do that. I think it was, you know, obviously a great driver of tension
and a great means of dissecting and further, you know, observing the character as he twists and
wriggles with Yeah. being seen, being accepted in certain ways, being encouraged to embrace himself
in a kind of opposite way than than the manner in which Harry taught him to do so. Um, yeah. I
feel like as show is called Dexter, you know, like obviously it’s an ensemble, but it’s about
uh, you know, largely concerned with this guy, his frame of mind, the gray area of all of that
and the sort of fun in watching him do his thing, but also in debating the gray morality of all of
it, the, you know, dark morality or maybe almost not morality of all of it and his duality as
well. The immorality of it certainly. Um yeah, his duality is generally I I think yeah, it was a
really rich vein to tap and it would have been a good idea kind of at any point. Um and yeah, the
fact that it happened so soon is sort of like oh damn, wow. And and you know to that end I feel
like you know the departure of the dispatching of doses makes a lot of sense. And I mean, in
that moment, I was sitting there with my lower TV brain on going like, “Well, we just we we maybe
they could pull some trickery, you know, like we saw him in the explosion, you know, lifted off his
feet and all that stuff. We saw him in the fire, but then but then we cut away and we don’t see
him again until they find the fragment of the body with the teeth.” So then your brain starts
worrying and you’re like, “Well, maybe cuz he’s so specially trained.” Uh, you know, like he
got banged up but he didn’t die and then he like pulled his teeth out and put them in a different
body and threw it in the river and and you know, like it doesn’t make you get your convoluted sort
of like wishful thinking brain going. But yeah, like I I don’t know like you know I don’t know
much about the rest of the show and I had kind of thought that Eric King was on it for more than
this and I’m staying away from really any updates like you know I can about the resurrection show
so I don’t know anything about that but I am really surprised you know and I’m certainly bummed
out because I loved as a character. I mean it is again one of those things where you’re between
a rock and a hard place. It’s an unstoppable force meets an immovable object and uh you know
yeah do I really enjoyed him across the show. I really enjoyed the journey the up and down of like
yeah meeting him being like I feel like yeah we’re not supposed to like this guy and then a couple
episodes later being like damn this guy’s really a fun to watch and b underneath the surface is
a character that I actually care about and want you know good things for. And so, yeah, in those
later moments, especially when like it’s all out on the table, like that stuff really took me by
surprise, uh, cuz they have done a couple dream fake outs or at least, you know, symbolic dream
sequences. And so, at first, you know, and when he first shows up at the cabin, I was sort of like,
ah, maybe this is a dream. And then, you know, pretty soon it becomes clear, I was almost in
disbelief at the end of that particular episode with that reveal that, you know, there he is and
he’s ready for him. and they have the standoff and uh yeah like it just makes a lot of sense like
like you know if Do is as smart as they’ve established him to be then this showdown had to
happen and I really enjoyed the characterization of their back and forth in the shack because you
know obviously there’s especially Dos goes through like a whole cycle of emotions where at first you
know obviously there’s the rage and anger and the sort of like I was freaking right about you.
Um, but then it gives way to other things to, you know, I don’t know if he’s ever 100%
being authentic trying to connect with him, but his like deescalation technique uh was really
fun to watch because it was a brief moment where like he and Dexter are kind of just talking
like on some kind of level with each other. there’s not necessarily like the animosity upfront
or the attitude upfront like they’re actually honestly talking as people and you know that whole
thing about how similar they are I thought was a really lovely kind of touch um and yeah just the
whole debate of them was great and I could have kept watching it forever and so you know I think
there is that it obviously speaks to the tenant that you should leave them wanting more uh I’m I
am sad though like this is a you know a character that I am like actually in this moment and
I imagine in the coming days we’ll be like thinking back on and be like damn man sad I
don’t get to see him in season 3. Uh so you know I’m team Do’s flashbacks all the way. I
feel like if we could jigsaw Do into this just via flashbacks every episode. Oh that’s that’s a
good point. You could always do flashback. That’s a good way to bring I for sure bring him back. I
think too, really quickly, I think it was really like watching him like being imprisoned in the
cabin. Like that was some of my favorite acting from Eric King because it was he was really out
of his element. He was being framed for something he didn’t do. he knew he had truly met his match
against Dexter and like but to watch like Eric King’s vulnerability as the character of Do like
it was just it was really like a it was really like it was scary and and it was I thought he just
did a a very uh nuanced job at like conveying that as a character because like usually he’s totally
in control of the situation. Yeah. So to see him like in such a precarious situation as as do Yeah.
Yeah. It was so out of his element and I was just like I’m like dude this guy is so versatile as an
actor. I’m like I like I really like appreciate him so much. I’m going to again just like you team
dos. I’m really going to miss him so much. And the other part of the question was did I think like
Dexter was like this early on in in the season’s going to get this close to getting caught? I I
don’t know. Like I wasn’t in the back of my mind. And I know there are more seasons. So like at the
end of the day, I knew he wasn’t probably going to get caught because there’s more seasons, but I
will say the show did a good job of in the moment, not making me think about the other seasons. Like
I was in the moment. So that like I will say that and obviously like you know the show comes out
at the time. I think John made a great point. They don’t know how many more seasons are going
to come out. So like they’ve at at right at this moment we’ve got to put all things on deck that we
want to tell. And sorry to to be a a repeat person on my favorite show, but like I remember with
season five of Smallville, they did like they put everything out on the line because they didn’t
know if they were going to continue and that’s one of the best seasons of Smallville and there’s
so much great stuff in there because they truly didn’t know if that was going to be it or not and
you can see in a lot of different storylines and elements that are in that season. So I think you
make a very interesting point with that. So, no, I definitely didn’t see that he was possibly going
to be caught, but I like like in the moment. It’s like whenever you watch a lot of movies when
you know like, all right, there’s probably the the hero is going to triumph and win here in the
end, but like is the movie going to be able to not make my brain think about that and and build that
the stakes and suspense in the moment? And even with that crossing my mind at certain points,
uh, it got me to that place where I was like, I have no idea how this is going to work out. And
and then my brain goes to the next step and says, okay, so maybe season three, uh, he’s in prison
or something, but they like need his expertise or whatever, like, you know, then I start bargaining.
I think, you know, knowing there are more seasons causes your brain, I think, to the first
conclusion you draw is that like the status quo will be maintained all that time or or, you know,
just like generally minus a character departure here or there, like the status quo of being Dexter
will sort of maintain over time and and it threw me out of that assumption which was really fun.
And obviously, you know, we’ve gotten to a point now where most loose ends are now closed. Yeah.
And you could end the show here if you wanted to. You really could. I’m glad they’re not going to,
but yeah, it’s weird. Like, you could have ended season one there and now seasons one and two
together. I feel like you could end the show here. Uh I’m super glad they’re not obviously.
And I’ve heard a lot of good stuff at least about the coming two seasons and, you know, some mixed
things about season five and then beyond that. But uh I still want to see everything regardless.
I just want to see what happens. I love watching everybody. I like being in the world. So yeah,
like quality declines are always a bummer, but at the same time, like I’m pleased that we’ll
have plenty of this to look forward to. And again, I’m I’m very curious like how everyone’s going to
react to the ramifications and the consequences of what just transpired depending on like time gap in
season 3. Laguarta, I’m very fascinated on because she knows he was innocent. And then comes to Deb.
She had the man that she really wanted to spend it seems like the rest of her life with, even
though it’s a premature statement to make, but she was really dead. A substantial part of life with
Yeah, she was she was dead set on being with this guy. Angel just had a crazy thing just happen to
him from Laya, which he accused him of. Granted, he is now a free man. And then Dexter had, you
know, an identity crisis and then a whole list of events. Uh, and then obviously, you know, the loss
of Dos, although like he wasn’t close with him, but still this whole transpire of events that that
happened. How about the kids? I’m curious how they like they got I I they’re so young, but like you
got kidnapped and you like a place it there’s so many different avenues. Grown up real fast. Yeah.
But there are so many different avenues like psychologically the season 3 can go to and I’m
I’m really anxious to see like what happens. Yeah, absolutely. Appreciate your uh your thoughts and
inquiry. Thank you. Alrighty, we got KJ Gould up next. KJ, thank you. Thank you so much. With
seasons with two seasons of Dexter Dunn, what do you expect in season 3? And do you think he’ll be
able to keep Harry’s code? Great question. Again, just kind of like what I was just mentioning, the
biggest thing is I I think this show just does such a great job. Yeah, the story line is usually
very compelling and fascinating and you always like wonder like what’s going to happen next, like
all the curveballs and the twists, but like for me it’s the characters, man. It’s the characters. And
I I I’m just so curious like where we go off next with each character again with the children, like
what they just witnessed, what’s going to happen between Rita and Dexter and their relationship.
You know what I mean? Because they just went through quite a bit as well. And again, I I really
like I I really felt like too I I didn’t haven’t mentioned as well, and I I’ll continue on the path
before I lose my train of thought. I really felt like Julie Julie Benz. Yeah. She really gave her
most riveting and emotionally resonant performance and it was either episode 11 or 12 uh that we
just watched. Like again the transformation of her character from you know the person who was
kind of just pushed around and didn’t really have a spine to the presence that she currently
is now. It’s really been astounding to watch and see like what she has become and she’s had to
become this, you know, in order. Yeah. Her growth has been just it’s been it’s been intense and I
don’t know if fun’s the right word, but just like but like just fun her performance rather. She’s
just been incredible to watch. Rich performance is really incredible. It’s rewarding in a way
because yeah, you’re it’s it just feels like a different person, but like it’s credit to Julie
Ben. She’s incredible. But the relationship feel uh too. It just feels totally different from when
they started to where they are now. And she’s just not the pushover she used to be. So it’s just
it’s incredible to watch. Like I love watching badass females and she really does. And I know
Deb is one as well, but like she really feels like she’s truly growing into one or has become one
rather and she’s really arrived. Yeah. So like I I really I mean obviously she had moments like we
saw with like setting the dog up from the neighbor in the first season and other moments like that
and standing up to Paul, right? I believe his name was. She’s had great moments, but like I
really feel like like it’s like she’s become a badass character in her own right and I I really
love her. But I’m I’m fascinated to see where we go with uh in that relationship and there’s
just so many so many different components that uh just really fascinate me. Even Vince, I I love
Vince, too. Like I’m I’m curious. Yes. I would love Vince on the internet all all episode long.
But yeah, I just there there’s so many different things. I don’t know exactly know what to expect
because the show throws so many twists, turns, and curveballs at us. Sure. But I just know like
I I know that I’m in for a roller coaster ride, but like the best kind of roller coaster ride.
And do I think he’ll be able to keep Harry P’s code? I mean, we know he just dealt with an a real
internal and identity crisis this whole season, and it kind of left us in a place where he, you
know, it showed us where Harry like kind of said like, “Stay away from me.” But I I feel like we’re
going to get more on cuz I I think the internal dialogue that he has with himself and like showing
those flashbacks just really goes along with his duality and then just showing what shaped him up
into like what he is now. But I think like the identity crisis that he dealt with like it was
such a fascinating angle to take it in season 2. So I think there’s going to be points and turns
like I think that’s something we all deal with in life. There’s times where like is what we’re
doing is this the the right way I should be operating in in this way or like we there’s a lot
of things we go through in life where we question things. So I think it’s like the right way to
just be you know to predict that yeah there’s going to be times he’s going to question Harry’s
code but I feel like at the end of the day like he knows the man that raised him and the man that
believed in him. So I feel like he’s still going to operate under the code of Harry. I’ll always
believe that until I see like this is dead. It’s buried. I’m never going to go with Harry’s
code and I’m going this is the new code. So, what about you? Yeah. Uh, season 3 expectations.
Boy, I I don’t I don’t really have a specific idea in mind. Partly because again, I didn’t really
see where all of this was headed. That’s what I’m saying. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And so, um I don’t
know just with everything I got one. Sorry. Boy, you’re thinking Pascal is going to cheat or have
an affair with Laguarta’s boyfriend. That’s going to happen. She’s going to get payback. Definitely.
Sorry. Sorry. Go ahead. Uh and then she’s going to go uh serial killing people’s fiances out of
fight. Um yeah, season three. I mean like because all of the you know stuff surrounding, you know,
Dexter and Dos is taking care of for now. Um, I don’t know. Like I I I I really appreciated
how this season used its guest stars because you did have one that was something of a villain
and certainly you had Lundy who I loved it is a, you know, is a one of our good guy characters,
you know, and a character who’s very enjoyable, very likable, but an antagonist to Dexter the
Killer. Um, so I mean I expect some kind of, you know, special guest star. Uh, and uh,
it’s I don’t know. It’s weird. I want to have a satisfying answer to this question. Um, and
I mean like I’m trying to to count up what the loose ends were at the end of the finale at this
point. I’ll say this. I really think Laguarta, and I think this is an easy prediction to make.
She’s not letting go of believing that Do that Do Yeah. Do’s death and his innocence and she’s
going to continue to to even though like she said I’ll let the case go and believe that he was
the Bay Harbor Butcher butcher the Green Bay Packers. I I I butchered that many a couple times
probably doing the thing, right? Hey, I I’m really like I am apprehensive to say that she is just
they’ll just move on and uh but I’m still going to mourn for this guy who I was close with like as
a partner and it seems like they had a little bit of romantic thing right in the past a little bit
is Raven that was Lua. Did they or No. Yeah. No, that’s confirmed. They they said as much. I mean I
thought they were like together. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I thought that’s what they said. I just wanted to
confirm that before I like that’s why I was Yes. So it’s always because too we watch these in big
chunks and so and we’re also watching other lots of other media too. So I just wanted I just wanted
to make sure I just wanted to make sure. But the point I’m making is I I feel like she’s going to
have that excuse me. I feel like she’s going to have that do and Llaya level of obsession of just
she’s not letting this go. She’s going to be very hardened in the next season and she is going to
like find any kind of thing that she can to prove uh Do’s innocence, even if that means taking
Dexter down. And like as as much as we know she loves and feels that charm towards Dexter, if
she finds out the truth about Dexter, she’s taking him down. Oh, of course. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. like
and and I wonder I mean like the thing is I don’t expect necessarily like specifically this season
will be the season where Legua is hunting Dexter, you know, like I don’t think they’ll go for
a the same kind of dynamic again. But I can definitely see that being one of the potential
conflicts, one of the things that you know is uh at least a possibility at some point down the
line. Uh so yeah, you know, like the way all the things end off, um you know, and everything with
Laya and everything, you know, it feels like there is a sort of blank slate for Dexter now because
at least the immediate threats to his visibility uh are taken care of are gone for now. Uh and so
I don’t know. I don’t I I really don’t know. I almost expect some kind of greater exter external
force for next season as opposed to, you know, Yeah. an internal force or cuz, you know, they
got to find something new to do and like a bie from for this season, right? Of some kind, right?
Yeah. I mean, like again, I think they’ve gone with some very personal uh characters obviously
because yeah, you’ve had Brian, you’ve had Li, you know, Brian deeply connected from the past.
You have Laya who’s a new person but who very much sees the present and you know they both have
their you know hooks in him to some extent and in a very personal way. I could see another serial
killer character perhaps arising. I don’t know if it would necessarily be a close person and uh I
don’t know how much more interrogating of Harry’s code we’re going to do. Um, partly because to the
second half of your question, you know, uh, as you know, will he be able to keep Harry’s code into
season 3? I I mean, sort of, I feel like it’s kind of in the the monologue, the internal monologue
there where he says like, you know, it’s it’s my code now. It’s the code of Dexter. And the code
of Dexter is derived from the code of Harry. It’s, you know, largely, you know, it’s the sourdough
starter of the code of Dexter is the code of Harry. Uh, so it’s an evolution. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. So, um, that’s what I meant more on like, yes, the code of death. It’s it’s the code of
Harry still just personified into his own, but it’s still he’s still going to follow the code of
Harry in somewhat form. Well, that’s the question, I think, is is will the code of Dexter amend the
code of Harry in a way that expands upon it or directly in some way contradicts it or whatever?
Because, you know, partly through this season, we’ve interrogated the facts of Harry’s life as
they’ve been revealed in hindsight and, yeah, Dexter’s own feelings about the code and, you
know, he’s been, you know, to a point where he’s basically kind of dropping it and then to other
points where he’s coming back and going, “No, you know, Harry was right though.” And, uh, so
yeah, I feel like an amended version of the code will happen. And maybe we’ll even get some kind of
treatise on what the new code is. We’ll see. Um, but yeah, I feel like Harry’s code, whether it is
followed to a tea or amended in some way, will be a thing. It seems like it would have to be as long
as Dexter exists. Um, but yeah, I’m just excited. My biggest point of contention is I just I find
it hard to believe that Dexter as as much as that itch is always there to like, you know, to take
people out. I just don’t see him taking out anyone who’s fully innocent and has not deserved it.
That is where I’m like I draw the line at seeing him do that. Stuff like that seems like yeah,
it’s well ingrained within him now. Yeah. You know that Yeah, he would have to he still has his
MO which is Yeah. taking out the trash, you know. Yeah. I will say though. I mean, it’s going to
be interesting to see him put in a position where he might have to. Yeah. I think it’s at least
heartening that, you know, we’ve gone through this whole season and had all the stuff with Rita and
the fact that he recognizes that Rita and the kids bring him a very important element of humanity and
he chooses that he and he fights for that by the end of the season. Yeah. And uh I think that is a
sign that Yeah. To some degree, the core tenets of of Harry’s code will remain. Absolutely. Alrighty,
Landon Miller, thank you so much. Thank you, Landon. Uh John and Andrew, one of my personal
favorite seasons is now done. I can see why, man. This was a ride. I am still reeling from
this. Um so, what did you guys think of Dexter’s inner conflict about turning himself in? Do you
think he would have actually confessed if things hadn’t changed? And how do you feel about the fate
of doses and how it wrapped uh up the Bay Harbor Butcher case? I think before he had that stake
with the the dinner rather with Deb, I really think he was contempl on on bringing himself in.
And I think that that whole conversation really made him realize and understand the things that
are so important and the things that humanize him and realize what true freedom means. Yeah. And
I think like that’s what led him on the path to no like this is worth fighting for. Like this is
why why I need to to keep myself uh you know out of prison and and like have a life that is a uh
um I I need to have a life that uh has meaning. And this isn’t the meaning is the people that are
in it. It’s Rita. It’s the kids. It’s Deb. And no, I’m not I’m not like yes, I was going to go away
for them to like to kind of soften the below for them a little bit, which is protecting them in
a sense, but no, they are worth fighting for, and I’m going to fight for them. Well, you
could almost argue it’s like a self there is an element almost of it’s we it’s a it’s at a
really interesting crossroads between selfishness and selflessness because you know him turning
himself in in a lot of ways he looks so light and he looks so kind of uh almost giddy about it
and it seems like you know that would have been a easy way to bring himself at least a temporary
kind of relief. Part of me wonders if he had actually done it and then gone through with it if
he would have regretted it pretty fast. But yeah, I liked the framing of that as sort of like, you
know, a I’m better when I am connected to again the people in my life who I actually do despite
my perceived lack of feeling care about. You know, I need to be there to protect Deb and Rita and
whoever else. But also knowing that this is who I am is going to devastate them even more. And after
all both of those characters have been through, that seems like an an enormous cruelty as well.
So, you know, obviously there’s kind of like no there’s no moral I guess the moral answer is turn
yourself in. There’s no really like good answer if you’re Dexter. Um but uh but yeah, I I don’t
know like I could imagine a world in which he did, but I never was sitting there expecting it
to happen. But even then I I benefited the doubt of it. you know, part again, I had that
thought of like, well, maybe in season 3 he’s working with them from like in a Hannibal Lecter
capacity or something like that. But um and that was fascinating too that the couple shots where
they showed Deb’s reaction to him saying he’s the Bayart Harbor Butcher. I thought that was f
like where she like freaked out, she shot him or whatever the other reactions were. I thought that
was really fascinating because moment, again, this is a very easy assumption or prediction, although
most of mine have been wrong at this point. I got to imagine at some point Deb is going to find out,
right? That’s the easy assumption. At some point, I would have to imagine. And I’m curious how she
reacts as a woman of the law, a woman who loves her brother so dearly, not having trusts him so
so deeply, not having known this entire damn time, and also the fact of learning like, wait, dad knew
this whole time and and trained you to do this or at least like brought you abouts to do this. So,
it’s going to be like that’s the biggest I know I kind of mentioned earlier like I’m fascinated to
see all the people closest around him if they do discover Debs is the one I’m I’m most interested
to see when she finds out the the truth whenever that is season 3, season 4, season 5, whatever it
is, last episode of season 7 or eight, whatever. Hers is the one I’m most fascinated because
we know she can be extremely emotional, understandably so, but hers is the one that that
interests me the most. We kind of already talked about, but I guess we can talk a little more.
How did we feel about the fate of doses and how it wrapped up the Bay Harbor? I will. Yeah, beyond
heartbroken. I did not mention this though, John, and to you guys. I thought like how everything
was starting to get stacked up again because originally Dexter was not trying to frame him. It
just ended up happening that way and then once it started stacking up against him and in Dexter’s
favor for the frame, he’s like, “All right, might as well just embrace this and now get
to get myself out of this pickle. This is not going against the code of Harry, so let me let me
like stack the dep deck more against uh Dos.” But it just ended up working out that way to where
now Dexter is going to be doing this. But the way everything did again because it’s so smartly
written like him uh ducking out of the interview because he realized holy crap Dexter is the the
Bay Harbor but butcher and then some of the other things where he left the he found the the blood
vials. He left them in the trunk cuz I guess at that point Lundy had had some surveillance or
whatever following him and they checked it. all the things that had happened prior to that and
like this makes total sense why they it it it’s incorrect but it makes total sense at this point
why they would think he is the Bay Harbor butcher. So I thought that was again such an interesting
angle to take. Yeah, I’m bummed. you know, I’m big I’m big bummed and obviously I think
it’s it’s an interesting device for the season because one thing this season I think did uh quite
vividly was make Dexter his own villain and uh and what better a way to do that than by turning him
against a character that we many of us I I’m sure some people don’t like him but you know many of us
really a character that we all enjoy watching but also who you know we know can’t sort of coexist
with this and So, um, yeah, I mean, like I think it’s interesting, yeah, that they had It makes me
wonder, uh, a how much of the book they adapt in the first season versus, you know, was this spread
out over two seasons? Is this multiple books? Is this, you know, not even a full book? Either way,
you know, it carries through season one because of that whole instance with the guy on the bridge
and that sort of like, wait a minute, what’s going on? Why did you just kill that guy? Um, and then
you know the ex ranger dude as well. Um, so yeah, I think like the buildup of his uh, you know, the
deaths caused in the line of his duty, you know, uh, makes for a nice setup to that. And then,
yeah, certain moments that are smartly played between him and Dexter, especially
that whole like headbutt thing. Oh, yeah. I was just thinking about that as you said,
too. Like, that’s funny. Yes, you are right. and his like very casual like I’m just going to walk
out now and like you know and it’s a diabolical move on Dexter’s part and so yeah it’s like it’s a
bummer because like a lot of what Dexter did there hurts and sucks and is unfair from a contextual
standpoint not like you know I I don’t I think you know it’s it’s very engrossing writing and
performance I really enjoyed watching but also yeah left me with that feeling of like god damn I
wish they could find some way to work it out. Um, but yeah, like I never would have if you asked me
who he would frame at first, I’d be like, “God, I don’t know.” Um, but yeah, like having it be that
this sort of like nemesis of his who also clearly has his own code and who also clearly acts on
his own instinct, his own gut, his own will. Uh, you know, there is a certain level of, you know,
common ground that can be drawn between them even if it’s not, you know, 100 or even 50%. Yeah. Um,
so that’s what I thought too was possibly going to happen. Maybe ideologically speaking, they might
have somewhere in the middle. Yeah. Found eye to eye, but that just wasn’t going to happen. Yeah.
It’s like you’re bargaining with yourself cuz you know it can’t happen. And so yeah, like him going
down as the Bay Harbor Butcher, like I think it has the desired dramatic effect where it’s like,
God, I’m sad. I’m really sad about that because I know it’s an injustice to the character in
context, you know? I know it’s this poor guy. We know the truth. We know this guy’s intentions.
We know at least his heart or to some degree. And uh for him to be remembered as the Bay Harbor
Butcher hurts when you’ve spent the time that we’ve spent with him and seeing Luerta, you know,
holding steadfast and that whole thing about like we’re not memorializing the Bay Harbor Butcher,
we are memorializing our friend and coworker James Dogs. And uh and so it’s it’s again a nice driver
for tension because you’re like, damn, man. I want to see justice for this guy and his name cleared
except, you know, I also it’s Dexter and I love Dexter too and this was messed up, but you know,
Dexter’s our protagonist and he’s our boy. Um, so yeah, very conflicted. Uh, but in the right
ways, I would say in the desired ways. You know, I don’t think you’re supposed to be
happy that this happened necessarily. Um, and I think they did a nice job of doing it in
such a way where because partly it’s Laya and you know it’s well within her character to do what
she did. You know, a it’s conscientious. It’s a way of taking care of all the stakes of the
season in a way that allows Dexter to continue doing his thing uh without having him break the
code, without having him cross over into being too unlikable. And then that gets us rooting for him
to want to take out Laya. So yeah, I I am sad. I am actively mourning the fact that we most likely
will not be spending any time with Eric King in the context of Dexter anytime soon. Um, and yeah,
like it sucks in context a lot. Um, and you know, I I think his whole back and forth with Dexter,
the inner conflict about Dexter turning himself in is so largely explored through Dos. And you
know, I thought it was fascinating watching their performances together because yeah, it’s like
they’re negotiating and they’re speaking directly, but you can also tell that there are layers of
double speak and you’re like, are they it feels like they’re creating a connection or creating a
common ground and at least even though they know that this situation here in the cabin cannot
persist, something has to give. Ideally, we take you in Dexter. Like even still, you want to
believe in those moments that like those little, you know, moments of empathetic eyline are genuine
or maybe they’re just tactics. But I don’t know. I thought it was all very fascinating and very
beautifully acted and I’m going to miss him a whole and I agree with everything you just
said. Very well put. And also too, the fact that he called him Dexter for the first time was
called him. That was really striking. That was And also too, like he was about to take him out
when he then said like he said something about his father like I have information to tell you.
I I forgot. Yeah. That thing when he hints that, you know, people were that his dad was some type
of laughingtock and that his death wasn’t what it seemed. Yeah. Yeah. And then we get that from
Lieutenant or Captain Tom, I think his name is. And again, I Matthews Matthews. Yeah. And then I’m
just questioning because again, the show throws so many curveballs. Is that fully what happened? It
could be. And he seemed genuine when he was saying it. Maybe. We’ll see. I I I I have a feeling
we might be revisiting that, but you know, my predictions have not always been the greatest. We
shall see. Golly, that’s a great question, though. Would he have confessed? I maybe depending on the
turn of events. Anyway, Tara, Tara, probably not, but maybe. Anyway, Tara, thank you so much
for this is good. I love when a question keeps scratching at your brain. Uh, for John and Andrew,
thank you for chiming in. I’m sorry if you’ve already discussed this. It’s all good. Uh, but I’m
curious about your thoughts on Laya. Uh, was there a moment when Dexter first met her and she became
a sponsor where you knew she was well, let’s just say trouble for lack of another description that
I won’t say. I knew you were trouble. Uh, do you think that Deb telling her to go away made things
worse? Were you surprised by what she did to Do in order to protect Dexter and then end up targeting
the kids? Okay. So, uh, I think again the actress Jamie Murray, Jamie something or other. Okay.
What what she did a phenomenal job. She was well, she’s extremely manipulative. She’s gorgeous. And
I think like watching her descent into obsession. Yeah. was it was a sight to watch like and
again just the way she de like especially at the beginning of the season watching her deconstruct
with Dexter like just reading his [ __ ] meter and like knowing like she knows that there’s a dark
passenger and this this is just a facade like it was it was great writing I thought and like it was
she’s a fascinating character whether you love her or you hate her I I can’t imagine too many people
loving her I mean you know I I I like the look of her more than I I like her personal ity. But
that’s another thing, you know, that’s that’s more of a Vince comment. But I will say that
her interactions with Dexter are fascinating, you know, even though again they they hinge on
more manipulation and obsession, but they are fascinating because they’re grounded in reality
then people behave this way. So did we know from the beginning that she was trouble? I I think that
was Yeah, that was definitely I think we both did, right? I would say she’s well cast and she played
the role with the right amount of free spirit. Yeah, free. That’s exactly the word I was going
to look for is like freespiritedness that Yeah. Upon I definitely in the first scenes where we
were meeting her where they were actually talking uh I did have that thought cross my mind of like
oh you’re at least even if you’re benevolent of intent you are going to be a whirlwind to deal
with. I I gather. Uh yeah trouble I think is a good word. you seem like trouble. And I think,
you know, the whole conceit of the support group of the narcotics anonymous group is good because
obviously you’re going to have people in there, at least some people in there who would
come across like they’re a bit trouble. And uh so yeah, it it again plays on you as a viewer
to sympathize and extend the benefit of the doubt at least initially. Um, but yes, it certainly felt
like I would say arguably early on it certainly felt like she was going to be a handful and going
to be probably not a good influence on Dexter. And I very vividly remember the sort of early moments
of the season especially where you’re like I don’t I don’t I don’t trust I don’t like this for some
reason. I don’t trust this. But she’s saying some fair things and it seems like you know stuff that
a person in recovery, someone like Dexter might need to hear. Um, but yeah, like Deb telling her
to go away. I think I like that it came from a place of protection though. like she is not afraid
to to protect the people in her life or stand up for them whether and again just an example
for that like when and again granted it’s her boyfriend but it doesn’t matter who it is whether
it’s Dexter or Lundy like when what’s I’m so sorry Jonathan Banks is yes when Jonathan Banks was like
whether he was taking credit or not giving enough credit to Lundy and like she literally just told
him to f off and say like this is the reason this guy is the reason why I like like how she stands
up for people like that she loves and cares for. Like, you know, and again, Deb is emotional,
but you know, she uses I think she was kind of using the words of motivation that Lundy told her
earlier on when she was having trouble like moving on from her horrific experience with By from
last season. She was using that as as strength, you know, to to push forward and uh her emotion.
And I like that she did that. She did. Granted, she like look, it’s not she didn’t know what was
going to come about of that. I think it was kind of bad timing and like her being at the apartment
to see if what’s her I mean I I know the question is more just do you think her telling her to make
things worse? Possibly. But I think that the thing that it’s a lateral move honestly like I think
things were already pretty bad and if it wasn’t Deb it was going to be something. Yeah, for sure.
But I think that the the biggest thing that was because Dexter had a plan to get rid of Laya. I
think the biggest thing that was the and again not Deb’s fault. It was just bad timing when Deb went
to the to Laya’s apartment or her or her loft, whatever it was. When she went there, that that
was like the nail in the coffin for like bad timing. And now because his bag was down there
and just like he was not in a position where he could use the uh the was it the train uh what what
was it the shots that he uses to unconscious? The sedative. Yeah. So because she bad timing I think
that’s what made things worse, you know, telling her to go away. She’s just being Deb. I think she
she had a fair reason to tell. Like this woman is a terrible influence on her brother. This woman
accused Angel of some horrific things. And I know Deb didn’t have proof that he didn’t do, but she
knows Angel really well and she knows the crappy influence that this woman has on her brother. So,
you know, I I I know it was a fair assumption for her to make from that perspective. And she was
she ended up being right. So, you know, you can give her credit on that. Uh, but go ahead and then
we’ll answer the the final part of the question. Yeah, I mean I don’t think her telling Deb Deb
telling Yla to leave town like it certainly had an effect obviously. It’s the kind of thing Laya
would respond to in some way. But yeah, it seems like that was going to that message was going to
continually be delivered until things came to a head. And you know, Deb has never at any point in
any of the scenes in which Laya and Deborah are in the same room had any trouble being like, “I don’t
like you. I don’t think you’re good for my brother and I think you’re trouble and I think you should
leave.” Uh so, you know, it was a badass scene for Deb. And uh yeah, I guess like I’m sure
it had an effect, but I wouldn’t really say that it made things that much worse. I think if
anything it probably just moved the inevitable up a little sooner. I would say the thing that made
it the worst probably is when Dexter said like I’m going away and then he s she saw and she was like
staring obsessively into with seeing her on him on the boat leaving with Rita and the kids. I’d say
that is the point of no return for her into I that is not as Yeah. big of a threat. Yeah. I would
say like the point of no return is seeing that and I will do whatever it takes to make Dexter
mine. And that’s when this whole pla uh plan you know that she had for with Angel and then oh I can
I can drop the charges but you have to be whatever like that’s when this whole plan came about and
then she got the and then she did the navigation system and all that you know to go she didn’t know
she was going to find dos up there but which moves us into the next portion of the question. Were
you surprised by what she did to do in order to protect Dexter and then end up I was surprised
what happened to Was I did whatever it took to make to protect Dexter? No. And then targeting the
kids. No. For Dexter, I’m not surprised that Laya, a person of impulse, a person of free spirit, a
person of obsession, a person who’s out of their mind. I was not surprised in any way that she
would be ina that she would be capable of going to such ludicrous matters. I’m not surprised. I was
surprised that Dos was killed for sure. But I was not surprised that she was willing to do whatever
it took to make to protect Dexter and to make Dexter be with her. Yeah. I mean, yeah. Like it’s
certainly in the moment you wonder maybe there’s an element of suspense and part of me was thinking
to myself, okay, is she going to I don’t trust that she would ever have Do’s best interests in in
mind or at heart, but part of me sort of wondered like, okay, is she going to respond to this in
a way that uh suggests she might use him to some degree to her advantage in in a different way when
comes to Dexter uh versus yeah choosing the sort of like oh my god I know who you are now I see you
I realize you know all that you’ve been carrying around with you and if this is part of your plan
then I am going to help you know see it through and she clearly knows enough to know that this
guy’s probably not helping Dexter out in any way. Um, so yeah, like in those moments, it’s another
one of those uh it’s another one of those things where you look at it and you say to yourself like,
“Okay, I know she’s capable of killing people in a roundabout fashion.” Uh, but this is a character,
yeah, who is, you know, one of our main ensemble and this is a guest character. So, in the at least
the hierarchy of that consideration, you know, arguably Dog should get out of this somehow. Um,
but yeah, it’s it’s weird. We’ve crossed so many lines of no return, especially with a character
like Laya. And it’s another one in that scene you’re like, would she? Probably, I guess. You
know, it seems like what you learn over time about Laya is that yeah, like she pretty much has an
obsession with de like her addiction now is Dexter essentially, and she is using any means possible
to isolate him from any other thing in life. Um, and sometimes that means supporting him and, you
know, giving whatever his work is a bit of a nudge forward. And sometimes that means doing something
really histrionic and and outlandish like cing catching yourself in in a fire that you set or
kidnapping the kids or things like that. So, uh, yeah, I mean certainly by the end it becomes
very clear like that there is no line she will not cross and you get the lines keep escalating.
certainly and her chaotic choices of how to, you know, stick and twist the knife, you know,
only escalate. Um, but yeah, in a breath, I I was surprised just because of the general idea that I
wasn’t expecting to die. And even in that moment, I was sitting there bargaining with myself
going, “Well, maybe this place will explode, but he’ll make it out somehow.” I was 100% with
you on that. I really thought like he was going to survive somehow. And also I found it it was crazy
too that once she realized like hey there’s no way this guy is gonna be with me so if I can’t have
him nobody will. Yeah. Fascinating again another fascinating angle to to take it you know with with
her character. So well and the idea that yeah she does all this in order to protect Dexter and then
targets the kids like that that didn’t surprise me in the least because she doesn’t care about
the kids and the kids are an obstacle between her and Dexter. So I I feel like that is more
to be expected even than uh what she did to to uh so yeah. Yeah. Cuz we were kind Yeah. We you
and I were wrestling too for the last like two or three episodes. Is it the kids? Is it Rita? Who
is she taking? Or is it both? Or all three rather, excuse me. But like yeah was we were like
questioning that like who what is she gonna do to them? So just glad nobody everyone escaped. But
again, seeing what psychologically what the kids are going to be wrestling with next season because
that was a lot that’s a lot to deal with. I mean, it’d be a lot for you and I to have to deal
with if someone threw us in in a fire and we barely survived and, you know, we’re, you know, a
little bit older than those children. Like, I I’d probably have some PTSD from that. No, no joke.
So, I’m fascinated by how the children are going to react to that as well. Yeah. And now Cody, they
made that whole point about like, oh, you know, Cody’s not old enough to really remember what
Paul was like, but Aster is. And they’re both, it would seem they are both old enough to
remember this [ __ ] with Llaya. The so yeah, there’s got to be some fallout from that for
sure. But thank you so much, Tara. Thank you, Tara. All right, Corey H about Dexter. Thank you
so much for chiming in. How do you feel about the fact that Dexter was essentially both hero for us
viewers and the villain for the people of Miami as the Bay Harbor Butcher during this season?
And what are your thoughts on this plot taking place in a show’s second season rather than being
reserved for a final season of a show when the character’s secret is finally revealed? I mean,
I think that’s the grounded way to do the the approach, right? Is like we see him as the hero
because the people don’t know that he’s I mean, well, I guess they did know that he was taking out
the garbage, right, of of humanity. So, I mean, they did know, but like we get to spend so many
waking moments with this character. So, we know all about Dexter. We know his inner complex. We
know everything about him. But I think that’s the dramatic way to take it is to is the unknown
and what people don’t know. And it adds this fear level for them of like, oh my god, there’s this
person out there. But also like it adds this moral gray line like because there was some chatter
where we saw I think he was in a coffee shop or something. We heard some I I I think again there
were a couple moments where people were discussing their thoughts on the Bay Harbor butcher but but
I think I think he’s doing a good thing. I think he needs to be locked up, you know? Right. But we
did see I I remember Rita and like Cody, they were worried about like the Bay Harbor Butcher. So I I
think like again grounded in reality there would be people like who don’t know all the facts or
don’t have all the context. Even if he’s taking out like if he’s going outside the law they would
view him as a villain. even if he’s, you know, not not working within uh the the constraints
of the law. So again, it’s the grounded take to the it’s the grounded reality and grounded take
to do. So I thought that was the right way and right approach. What about you? Yeah. Um, I mean,
I like I think one of the most interesting aspects of this season from a conceptual standpoint
is the fact that Dexter is both the hero and the villain to himself and to us the viewers, I
think, in both capacities as well as, you know, to the, you know, citizens of Miami. It’s like
h the middle chunk of the season. And it’s been really interesting to experience these in
these Yeah. like four episode acts basically and and especially during like act two, that middle
chunk of episodes, it really felt like, you know, Dexter was twisting and kind of flying off the
handle and really kind of feeling himself and, you know, embracing himself in a very toxic uh to
borrow a very current way of describing that way. Um, and yeah, like I thought that was some of the
most interesting stuff is the way that like for part of the season I don’t really like Dexter
that much cuz he uh was becoming much more of a villain and becoming much more about, you know,
the bloodthirst and his, you know, design of all this and, you know, he does start making errors
in judgment or at least judgments that are coming from a different place than he normally would.
And I think it’s credit to Michael Seahhal’s performance that you can really feel the book
ends or I could this season of like at the start he feels like Dexter that I got to know over the
whole course of season one and then in the middle of the season he seems like he’s becoming a darker
different per he seems like the dark passenger has now taken the wheel and is becoming the guy and
has put Dexter over in the passenger seat now uh almost as like the light passenger and so
you resolving the season at a point where he kind of comes back to himself and realizes that
he’s kind of gone off on this bender of sorts. uh I think it was really interesting and as you
said you know like uh this plot being the plot of the second season I think it’s really bold but
uh yeah it’s like I can absolutely see what you mean and I feel like yeah having it be that all
this is revealed and you know I think this would have ended differently had he had this been the
the last season you know if this was their final season do probably would have made it or maybe
at least Dexter would have in some way been found out or whatever. I imagine I don’t know and I know
that this show or Dexter even going to die. The one thing I know about this show is that there’s
an ending to the original chunk that people aren’t very happy about. And so uh I I don’t know what
that means, what the context is. Uh but yeah, I uh I would say that um it’s it’s a it’s a bold
choice. It’s still a choice that I’m like, ah, it is quirky because it does seem
obvious to save something like this. Yeah. But I do think that also sometimes a choice like
this uh a bold again choice that you know leaves no punches pulled then forces you to get that
much more creative the next time. And I feel like especially in an undertaking like TV where you’re
working for months on end on one story and then you take a you know few months off and then you
come back and you start doing it all over again you know I feel like you kind of have to throw
ideally perhaps you would throw everything at the wall exhaust yourself of the inspiration for
that season. take some time off and then come back and then solve all those problems and like that
if you accept the challenge and you rise to it then we’ll you know be get more interesting stuff
hopefully down the line um so yeah it’s a quirky thing it’s an interesting thing I think they used
it to good effect here people seem to really love this season I certainly really appreciated it
I you know the the emotional flavors are more harsh and more ugly and more feverish to some
degree in this season uh as I perceive them but uh yeah him being both hero and villain across the
board I thought was really interesting. And yeah, there were moments where I didn’t like him
or didn’t like the choices he was making, didn’t agree with the choices he was making, even
if they were pragmatic, you know, and sometimes his attitude, his display of emotion. Uh, yeah,
was certainly feeling like a different, darker version of this guy. Yeah, I could definitely see
this being a final season of this show. But also too to what John was saying earlier, you you don’t
they probably didn’t know at this time if this was their final season or not. So they were like you
said, they weren’t pulling many punches. That’s a good segue actually into pet my chicken. Oh,
well I just one second then. What was I apolog I could uh I will say this. I I think this was a
very bold and ambitious choice. What they chose to like really focusing on the inner conflicts of
Dexter uh that they chose to focus this entire most of the the plot of this season on. I think
that was and with the Bay Harbor Butcher. I think that was fascinating because they they really
could have gone like it probably still would have been great, but if they would have just gone with
like someone who’s not as personal as a villain as like Bine was in season 1, but they have like a
killer of of the season and we’ve got to solve the crime, that still would have been great. I would
have been down for that. Hell yeah. But like the fact that you’re like, “No, we’re going to sub.”
And again, I I try not to use this word like too often, but if you subvert just to subvert and it’s
not interesting, it’s going to kind of annoy me, honestly. But if you subvert in a bold and
interesting way and it pushes the plot forward and it pushes the characters forward again in a
way that is fascinating, I’m okay with it. Well, and the show’s called Dexter. So like to
subvert an expectation by doing something that only forces you further down the rabbit
hole of your central character. Yeah. I feel like you can always make an argument to do that.
For sure. And like in my mind and I I personally do not like predictability. I was I in my mind
I was predicting that they were just going to go another killer of of the the season which I
would have been fine with as long as it’s good. But the fact that they did this and it was really
fascinating to watch and this identity crisis that he goes on and then Laya woman who is manipulative
obsessive and really deconstructs him and really like pushes him down the wrong path and like
he if he doesn’t turn back like he could really like just really go down a path that is like the
point of no return. There’s a lot of fascinating elements this season. The only like thing that
really like really broke my heart more than anything was obviously doses. I’m really going
to be sad about that depending on what happens in the coming seasons. But I’m again I’ve been told
seasons three and four are excellent TV. So I’m very again interested to see what what happened
and what transpires rather. But I I think they made bold and ambitious choices in regards to the
plot and the characters and how they develop. So I was totally cool with it with with what happened.
Absolutely. And I mean yeah it’ll it’ll kind of matter. It’ll it’ll kind of I I feel like we’ll
have to revisit a question like this as we see what else the show gives us. For sure. That I was
going to say that’s a great point. I’d love to answer that revisit that question once we get like
further down the line just to see like how much more I enjoyed or would have liked this season’s
plotline inserted maybe in a different season. So, good great question though. Thank you.
Absolutely. All right. Pet my chicken, thank you so much for being here once again. Uh,
I don’t know how many seasons the showrunners knew they were getting. Uh, but I’ve always wondered if
they were if they knew that, sorry, I don’t know how many seasons the showrunners knew they were
getting, but I’ve always wondered if they knew uh they were getting eight seasons, would they
have kept Dos alive longer? He was such a good character. I mean that question too and I’m so
sorry that that makes me apprehensive to think unless you’re you’re being you’re giving us a
Dexter curveball right now to think that Doses is alive anymore in the remaining seasons with this
type of question, right? Cuz you’re saying like if they knew that there were is do going to be in
any more scene because we’re we’re playing around in our minds right now the last like 50 or hour uh
long that we’ve been doing this review. were like, “Wait, is there a maybe possibility that Do
somehow survived?” Well, this type of question maybe confirms that there’s he’s not coming
back, right? Oh, I mean, sir, well, yeah. I think from I don’t think there’s any logical
reason to assume he would come back if you were watching this in real time. You said he could.
He changed out his teeth and did something. Well, yeah, you’re bargaining with it. I could see that.
And I don’t know. You know, you can always do some weirdo recconing down the line. Uh, that’s true.
And yeah, like I would be thrilled if there’s some weird secret hatch they can pull to bring Eric
King at least back onto the show somehow. But flashbacks I see, though. It would be rad. But but
yeah, uh I don’t know. I I have to imagine that if they knew they were going to get eight seasons,
we would probably have spent some more time with him. But then again, I I am also curious to jump
into some of the creative uh you know, whatever material there is about the creatives discussing
the show and what their ideas were and how they proceeded executing them. I would be curious
to know because yeah, it seems like there’s a lot of interesting behindthe-scenes stuff as well
as what’s on screen regarding this. Yeah. I mean, John and I have already spoken at homminum about
it that we adnauseium. Adnauseium. Ad homonym is a is a type of logical fallacy. Oh, thank you.
I appreciate that. It’s like when you attack the person instead of their argument is the ad
homonym. Gotcha. Thank you. Well, we have spoken at nauseium about it and I mean, we both loved
Oaks. We adore him. So, I would have personally loved to have seen him kept on here a lot longer.
Yeah, he was terrific. I would like to revisit this type of question to see where they, you
know, push the needle and move the story forward in in regards to the characters as well because I
don’t know where we’re heading right now. I mean, we we’ve made some predictions. Who knows where
they go from here, but I lean towards Yes, they might have kept they may maybe another season
or two or more. Who knows? But I mean, the longer you keep him, the more you have to come up with
ways to sell that that his smarts and Dexter’s cunning still can’t quite catch each other. And
if they would have known and again, if they would have known that they’re going to do eight seasons,
if they knew that from the very beginning, I got to imagine too like they still would have had they
would have continued with this cat and mouse that he’s chasing after Dexter, but he doesn’t find
the truth out yet. Yeah, he’s just not he’s just not going to let Dexter walk free when he know
or at least he’s got to build up the evidence, right? Cuz he did know for a couple episodes.
He’s got to build a case around it, right? So, yeah, I would say the the the short answer to your
question is uh they probably would have kept him around. Yes, Siri Bobberino. And I’m sad. I don’t
know. I’ll reserve judgment as to whether I’m sad that we live on the timeline where that didn’t
happen or not because this was great TV. Yeah. But appreciate you pet my chicken. All right, Tara is
back. Thank you so much, Tara, for your enthusiasm today. Uh, I have a couple more questions again.
It’s all good. If we touched on them, we’ll just be brief. Um, one from the pilot episode, you have
enjoyed the uh have uh you have enjoyed the back and forth relationship between Dexter and Dos.
What are your thoughts on Do’s learning about Dexter and the time they spent together and their
conversations while Dol was locked in the cage and actually witnessed Dexter working at that
point? Did you know Do’s demise was imminent? Um, you know, I think we were definitely, as we’ve
touched upon, I think all the way through that, uh, I was definitely bargaining in my brain
of like how this could possibly work out. Um, but at the back of your mind, you just look at the
circumstances and you’re sort of like, I don’t see how this can’t work out. And if he doesn’t die,
then he’s definitely going to expose Dexter. And, you know, um, so that’s a good point, too.
Yeah. As much as I would love him back, too. And we for pointed that out. You’re right.
Like Dexter’s not going to be free. That’s that’s the problem. Or he’s going to have to like look
over his shoulder every every minute of the day for him. I had assumed he was on the show longer,
but again, as we have begun this journey, I have done my best to avoid anything Dexter related
that would give me any kind of context. So, like from the before times, I I’ve sort of got
the impression that he was around for longer. But, uh, but yeah, some of my favorite of his scenes,
and I’ve loved him across the show, but some of my favorite of his scenes were in the shack there
with them actually talking to each other because again, even if it is just deescalation tactics,
he’s, you know, good at his job in that case or if we really are seeing him get a little bit
vulnerable, like that’s rewarding also. So, and I thought that stuff was really interesting and to
see them finally after all of this kind of talking eye to eye, man-to-man, and dropping a lot of the
performative animosity and just, you know, really working this problem I thought was really cool and
really engaging and especially even though I don’t know if I ever really was convinced that Dexter
was 100% going to turn himself in, them working toward that was really beautiful in this doomed
kind of Hey. Yeah. And and also too before we answer the second part of Terara’s question, I’ll
also say too in regards to Eric King, the way he emoted in his facial expression when Laya came and
he thought he was being rescued. Like you could see the relief in his face and his eyes and he
was like and you felt for him even though we knew like you know Laya’s got nefarious uh you know
motives and ulterior motives rather. Yeah. And then when he came to the realization and when she
said, “Oh, he’s the Bay Harbor Butcher.” And then she knew like, you know, she’s there for Dexter
and like he knew he was screwed. But the when the realization came on his face and he was able to
emote that, again, that speaks to the power level of his acting abilities and the versatility
that he carries as as an actor. that I’m Yes, I’m going to miss the interactions and the the
cat and mouse stuff between him and Dexter, but that I’m going to miss that, too. Like I I
loved watching that man emote on screen. He is so damn good. He’s really good. Like watching him
like turn to that where he went from relief to I’m screwed and you can see that visual narration in
his face. It’s really impressive to watch. It’s mesmerizing honestly when there’s like a dark
humor to the fact that like it’s so exasperate like you know his whole experience as soon as
he gets to that island or whatever that is that that little you know water locked area landlocked
whatever you say. Uh yeah, like the whole thing was just like a symphony of wamp wamp circumstance
just exasperating like worst case scenar. Yes. Yeah. And so there’s just this like constant
back and forth with this guy and you really do believe his exhaustion by the end of just like oh
my god I don’t care man like I’m done with this man like get away from me I don’t want to deal
with this. That’s a great point John. Agreed. Yeah so many great so many so many great beats and
moments and that whole thing of like you know this got to end like that whole thing he’s shouting
like just kill me man like it’s got to end somehow like it’s wild. Um, second half of the question
though, after watching Dexter for a couple seasons now, do you think he is beginning to have actual
feelings for people andor things? The scene in episode 9 when he wakes up outside Rita’s house
wanting to make sure they were safe and the apology he gave her saying that he felt regret and
that he messed up so badly so stupendously seemed genuine and not something that was faking to be
normal. Thank you. Uh, I love these reactions and look forward to them every week. Thanks, Terra.
We appreciate you so much, Tara. again. This has been such a long time coming and it has been so
thrilling to actually be on this journey and to be enjoying it as much as we are. Yeah, for sure. Um
yeah, I I think you know the debate about Dexter, one of the debates about Dexter across the show
has been do we take him at his word basically that he doesn’t have the emotions you know emptiness
hollowess is I think in itself a kind of emotion you know even if you feel devoid of emotion
there’s a certain something that’s happening there and uh yeah I think certainly all the events
of this season has made the sort peaks and valleys of whatever Dexter’s emotional experience is a lot
more jagged and prominent. And I think that yeah, I I venture to guess that he’s always had
feelings and emotions because again like yes, he is logical. Yes, there is emulation involved.
Yes, he has studied human behavior and been encouraged to mimic it. But um but yeah, like I
think the whole thing with Rita and the kids is is and he even acknowledges like they are part of
what helps to make him more human and they’re you know clearly something that have ens snared him
somehow and that he chooses by the end. So I feel like and yeah like that whole thing where he wakes
up in the yard and he’s just you know kind of at the end of a rope but also you know here making
sure that they’re okay. Yeah, definitely speaks to the fact that there’s something genuine in there,
even if it’s, you know, down a long dark corridor or something like that. Uh, yeah, I feel like
definitely the events of this season kind of show that he at least has the instinct and the natural
inclination to fight for them and to recognize what they bring to his life and also how he
affects their lives. And so even if it’s not from the most traditional emotional place, I do think
that there are I think the point is that yes, there is some degree of feeling, some variety of
feeling happening. And uh yeah, it’s interesting to watch it win or lose. And and also the irony
of the fact that yeah, like as he is being called to accept himself and is feeling more sort of
euphoria based on that, you know, like that has a whole effect on everything as well. Like, you
know, there are positive instances of this, but I think a lot of what the season was grappling with
was negative instances of this as well. His sort of adopting a more traditional serial killer style
megalomania of sort of like my mission is pure and I’m, you know, smarter than it. You know, in
the earlier part of the show, I think it’s nicely zoomed in on the fact that it feels intimate and
it feels one at a time. It feels sort of like this is my next victim. This is the next person I’ve
discovered who is doing terrible things, who needs to be removed from the streets. and that’s kind
of it. There’s the box, there’s the trophy aspect, but in the second season, it felt more like a
totality, more like look at all the, you know, like and and yeah, I I feel like the emotionality
was all over the place in in a in in a intentional way because obviously characters like Laya are
like wildly emotionally chaotic. Um, and yeah, and every character’s different disposition serves
to do something. And yeah, it’s like Angel, even though, you know, Dexter doesn’t feel stuff, he
does look out for this guy and does seem to have like a genuine affinity for at least well well
intent towards him. So, absolutely. Yeah, I think the the question of his emotions are interesting,
but I do think there’s something there. Oh, yeah. No, I mean, we talked about it a little earlier
and I do agree to your point that these characters do humanize him for sure. whether it’s Rita, it’s
Aster, or it’s Cody, or it’s Deb, his relationship with her, or even Angel’s friendship with him, or
I would even venture to say with Vince as well, like they’ve got a fascinating uh, you know,
spar back and forth friendship as well. Well, I would even say too, even though he was dealing a
great deal with a little bit of a world shattering view on his his foster father with Harry and he’s
going through an identity crisis this season, like the way that he raised him and his mentorship
from Harry, like that also humanizes him a great deal as well. So, you know, in regards to him
waking up in the yard, like I think that was a very triumphant moment for the character. And
what I mean by that, apologizing to her after he had done something that is very unforgivable
for cheating on her and not asking for anything in return. Again, it’s it’s a very unforgivable
offense. But I think the fact that he had accountability over the matter and he was not
asking for anything back and he just said, “Hey, I’m not asking for anything. I just wanted you to
know I care deeply about you and the children and I just wanted you to know you mean a lot and
I’m so sorry. That’s all I but I just wanted to say it. I think that was like the character
really growing. Yeah, it was really maturing and growing uh for the character like and I think like
an immature way uh uh in a needy thing would have been like but I want you back like everything Laya
does. Yeah. But I you know what I mean? So I I was like again that whole thing of I just needed to
say it. Yeah. She’s like I don’t know if I accept I don’t know if I can do like that’s fine. I just
need to say it for sure. But I think that was such a big moment for him and for us the audience
accepting that is what he when he said I just needed to say it. And I I really appreciate like
there was so much meaning and emotional weight just in that in that dialogue of him saying that
and not wanting back anything in return cuz you know and again having that accountability of like
hey I I have I made a really bad mistake. Granted, and again, it’s it’s not just Laya, like there
there were both of them, but this woman really did like steer him down the wrong path. And
a great deal goes towards her, but you know, Dexter is a grown adult and he made the decision
as well. Grant, this is a very very attractive woman uh uh woman rather that uh led him down this
path. But I I understand like the motivations and why he went down this path. That again does not
justify it. He had the most amazing woman. And I love that Deb was also I think that like it really
goes under under spoken, John, how much of a great influence Deb is for Dexter. Like she like she
really put it into perspective for him. Like dude, you had the greatest woman ever and you effed
it. Like like try getting her back and then like really trying to get rid of this woman,
Llaya. Like I I I really really appreciate Deb. I I really like and again I love that she’s so uh
emotional but also at the same point she’s willing to stand up for people she cares for and like I I
really appreciate her so much and again Jennifer Carpenter she just does such a damn good job in
this show. She she’s amazing. So yes, absolutely. Jay Rushton, what up Jape? How you doing Jay?
Thank you for chiming in once again. Like what Dexter character do you want to see in season
3 be used more often? Wow. Okay. Uh Vince, I want to see his browser history. Uh you
know, always take more Msuka, more Angel. Yeah. Uh I I would be down to watch more Angel
again. I I have a feeling it’s going to be Lua. I just I feel like like where we left off with
the character with Dope Prime for I just like from a writer’s mind that feels like that’s the
character you you you position yourself to like let’s focus really heavily on cuz she’s going to
be the one who is left devastated the most from dos and I feel like that’s a character who’s just
not going to let go and we can really and she’s got the position of power back now too how does
she use that position of power right and she’s also I feel like John she’s going to feel like
a pariah in the office because she believes so much in doses and she’s like I feel like she’s not
going to let this go understandably so and she’s in the right. I feel like got to be I I don’t
know. What about you? I mean I I would agree. I mean I think that that’s definitely likely. Um
and I would be you know pleased to keep I I you know her ups and downs are certainly what they
are but uh I really like watching her. But what character do I want to see in season 3 be used
more? What would you want to see? Oh okay. Okay, I was superh Angel. I love Angel, man. Especially
what happened to him after like damn. He was not done dirty by the writers cuz it was like I mean
but he was done dirty by Laya. So I would love to to see him done dirt dirty by the writers. Well, I
mean that that crap for a reason. Yes. Yes. For a dramatic. But the point is maybe he can be done.
Maybe he can be done undirty this time in this season. Like he can have that would be nice. Yeah.
He can like maybe find an actual love interest that doesn’t want to do very nefarious things
to him for a reason to get back a Dexter. Like I would love to see something nice happen. He solves
like a very big case. He finds a love interest and I know the show’s got other things to focus on,
but I’ve really grown attached to to Angel. So I I I would love it if they could focus a little
more on Angel this season. I want I want them to focus more on character actress Margot Martindale.
Who? The woman from the file department. Who? Oh, the one who he brings the donuts to. Oh, I was
like an episode or two each of these seasons. Yeah. Yeah. Just to remind you. Oh [ __ ] she’s on
the show. I was like, who the hell are you talking about? Okay, I know who you’re talking about now.
She’s like in two or three episodes, right? Yeah. Yeah. I think you’re right. That’s the character
to focus on. Agreed. That would be fun. She knows the history of Harry and everything. You know
what? They might actually to to your point they might go back to her just because I think we
got to learn a little bit more about what did what really happened to Harry really happen as
uh what’s his name the theat Matthews did it might be Tom Matthews Tom did Matthews his yeah
did that really happen like he said because like again that dude I kind of did what’s her name a
little bit dirty also in season one when he got rid of her as the lieutenant or whatever so Oh
yeah we’ll we’ll see we’ll see don’t love that All right, son rock, penultimate question of the
day. Hey, now that you finished and thank you. Uh, now that you finished season 2, what hopes do you
have for season 3? What story lines or character beats do you hope to see pursue? What are you
hoping gets left behind? If anything, jokes being dead I hope gets left behind and they just bring
him back and don’t acknowledge how. That’s what I hope gets left behind. boy. Um, I mean, I think as
you pointed out a moment ago, I think, you know, definitely something to do with Legua. I think she
will be changed after this. I don’t necessarily even expect that like she won’t still be kind
of sweet on Dexter, but um, I got to imagine there’s something with her. I got to imagine Deb
is going to be very much, you know, Deb and and sort of more empowered from the events of season 2
than not. But certainly I she’s got to go on some kind of journey here and I I as much as I you know
ship her and Lundy hard you know it would be nice to see her get some good going that’s just good
and can not you know be marred by any circumstance uh inev like immediately anyway. Um I think like
that’s going to be the first question she asked to whatever guy she ends up dating. Two two things.
One are you a serial killer? Yeah. And number two, do you have any plans of moving away in the next
10 years? Yeah, those are those are the basic two questions. 10 year plan. Yeah, I would say I mean
we’ve already spoken at Nauseium at what story lines or character beats we think could possibly
happen or what we’d like to see pursued. I’m going to go back to Vince again and I’m going to say
I’m not I’m not going to make a joke about it. I’d actually like to see him and again not
not uh particularly accuse Dexter of any No, I’m being serious on this one. I’d actually not
like to see him accuse Dexter like at this at any point in season 3. start to get a little bit like
wary of him or start not wary rather but start to get a little bit like he’s starting to catch on
to Dex because a lot of times like and again it’s his coworker his friend but like there’s so many
times where Dexter is feeding him such BS and he always buys it. Right. Sure. So, I’d love it if
he’s like starting to like uh starting to like understand like everything Dexter like a lot of
times what he’s telling me like is not adding up. Yeah. And he’s starting to catch on to that rather
is what I’m trying to articulate. And again, he hasn’t like fully like this guy’s a serial killer.
Like I know it now. Like do 2.0. Yeah. I I don’t need that. But just like why are a lot of times is
like with Dexter is just again just just give me a little seed and like maybe in four in season five
or six like Vince has put the pieces together now. You know what I mean? Like kind of maybe wants
to talk to to or not talk to Dexter but yeah but but something like he knows something is a miss.
Something like never adds up with what Dexter is telling him. Like why is this miss? Why is that
there? Wait, I thought this was supposed to be here today. that’s missing too. You know what I’m
saying? Like I think that would be a fascinating way to explore too possibly that he’s somewhat on
to him. Sure. Sure. Hey, it would be it would be fascinating if that would happen with a sexual
innuendo joke here and there. Of course. Yeah, of course. You got it. Yeah. He’s he will say,
you know, you got boned when he fig you know when he tells Dexter he figured him out. Yes. Totally
bone you. Yes. Or some innuendo like that. Uh I yeah I’m curious to see where Rita goes cuz she’s
just been on this path of growth and certainly with Dexter back in back in good graces, you know.
I’m curious to see what happens there. Uh curious to see what happens with Laguerta. Just generally
hoping to see more Angel and Msuka because I love watching them. Um I don’t know. Like part of this
feels like because we did such a personal season two, we could do a more outwardlooking season 3.
I would love that. Not to say that there wouldn’t be anything for Dexter to be challenged by in that
context, but like season one leading into season two was very much like a oh damn we are turning
inward and after doing that I could imagine kind of responding to that by turning outward.
So, I guess the main thing I expect is another interesting guest star and perhaps uh more Dexter
doing Dexter stuff again because this is kind of like the sequel where like the the hero hangs
up the suit for a while or at least is sort of like grappling with I got to lay low. I can’t for
various reasons Dexter doesn’t do a whole lot of Dextering this season. Um so I’m imagining there
would be more a bit more of that. Agreed. No, he’s going to fill up that new trophy. No, for
sure. As Glen Fry would say, the heat is on. So, I agree. Absolutely. But, uh, would love to
hear what y’all Well, no, you guys know. So, don’t actually don’t. We don’t want to hear any
expectations. You know what to expect. You guys know what to expect. Yeah. I I know what why you
meant to say that, but no, please don’t. As much as we love you guys. All right, capping us off.
Thank you so much, Emma. One of the MVPs of our Dexter Talks. Uh, I mean a lot like all pretty
much all of you trying have been very consistent and we very much appreciate it. Emma has this
to say. Dexter season 2 finale. I hope you guys enjoyed this season. I love it. We did. Uh, there
are a lot of Dexter questions this time, so I’ll keep mine relatively short. Appreciate that. Uh,
how do you like season 2 compared to season 1? Do you think they did anything better or worse, or do
you think it was just a good continuation? Did you expect that Dos would have would have to be killed
to keep Dexter’s secret or did you think there was a chance of him being released? If you thought
he had to be killed, are you surprised it wasn’t Dexter that did it? And finally, any predictions
on season 3 or anything you’d like to see more of? Love your guys reactions to the show and can’t
wait to see. Well, Emma, we love you. Thank you so much. Appreciate you. We can do these in a tandem.
Question question one. How do you like season two compared to season one? I wasn’t honestly like
watching it. I was not comparing. I just thought it was a great season. So I personally was not
comparing it in any way. It was definitely there were there were definitely points where there
was totally different just cuz again to what you were saying was focusing a lot more on the on the
inward though there was a lot of of points of like really focusing on the inner conflict as well.
But then again you had that whole solving of of you know biney and then that whole twist. So, we
didn’t have that that as much, but I I like that they were doing something a little bit different
and more ambitious in this season. I found that interesting. So, you know, I like that it wasn’t
a copy and paste of season 1. So, I wouldn’t say I compared it to season one. I just think they’re
both A’s or A+. I mean, they’re both so damn good. They’re great seasons of television. So, hard for
me to to compare and say which one I liked better, honestly. I would Yes, it’s a great continuation.
I’ll leave it right there and uh just let John say did did you compare season 1 and season two while
you were watching or after you’re after we’re done with season two? No, it crossed my it has crossed
my mind to some degree. I didn’t spend much time while we were watching season 2 comparing it. Um
in a lot of ways I fall into the camp of Yeah, I think it’s overall just a good continuation
of the show. It does. It does feel in a good way like when you get a sequel to something and
you’re like, “What on earth are they going to do with this?” And then they do something bold
and you’re like, “Oh, wow. That’s what they did with it.” And cool. Like, well done. No. Again,
not pulling many punches. Um, I mean, season one and two definitely feel different to me. And
season two feels a lot more feverish and a lot more wild in a way because you know the core of
the show your title character is in such turmoil and is going through this sort of manic shift
in his you know in so many of his faculties in so many of his philosophies in so many of his you
know relationships such as they are. So, um, it’s weird like season 1 in a lot of ways feels pretty
flawless to me in hindsight and the reveals were really sharp. And I thought throughout the season
there was this really consistent sort of poise and uh, tone that for the most part, yeah, always
it kept a consistency I guess that I appreciate. And again, it it in hindsight is is pretty
flawless to me. Not to say there are no flaws, and I can think of maybe maybe one episode at
the time where I was sort of like thinking that there were, again, if I if I try to approximate
this, I’m going to be nitpicking to a degree. Uh, and season 2 I thought was really smart. Again,
I really admired the boldness. I really admired uh them running directly into the fire of the
circumstances there. And I thought it was, yeah, really tense, really fun. uh really effective
and really well done and really well, you know, overall earned in what they chose to do and how
they chose to do it and the different characters. It is more wild, I would uh I would assert. Um,
and there are maybe a couple aspects of season 2 that are a little bit um, God, there was one there
was maybe one detail here or there where I was like, if this had been any different, I don’t know
if, you know, anything would have worked out. Um, God, I can’t remember what that was, though. Yeah.
Like time from season two. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like season two, yeah, just generally
I think is is more wild and because Yeah. you go from sort of like the status quo into okay I
got to really pull back in the first act and the second act you’re like in big tumultuous territory
and Dexter has gone off the deep end to a degree and he is becoming this you know warped uh again
megalomaniacal version of himself and just like the feelings in season two are harsher I guess
I would say in a sense I oh that was it I need to go back and observe the thing about like, oh,
we found the slides in Do’s car. Good thing he didn’t take them to Haiti with him. Uh, you know,
that was like a detail where I was like, really, he’s going to fly back and then fly back again.
Uh, but that might make sense on a second viewing more so than in the moment. But yeah, it’s like
finding flaws here as of these first watches is not, you know, there aren’t many things that come
directly to mind. To answer your question more succinctly, yes, I think this was overall just a
good continuation. And I yeah, there’s not really a better or worse to me about it. There are some
things that are slightly different. Season two is a bit more of a manic season and it’s a bit more
of a harsh season, but it makes sense as to why. And I think they earn the why of all of that. And
you know, all the showdown aspects between him and Dos I thought were really interesting and really
wellandled. Um, so I might slightly prefer the the pristine nature of season 1 and having that
central serial killer, the discovery of that was really exhilarating in a true crime. Like I don’t
love true crime content necessarily because that’s the stuff of life that actually gets to me and
kind of makes me, you know, on edge. But um but you know the there is something engrossing about
that even feeling that way. And so season one in a very fictionalized setting has that sort of
engrossing nature of like oh man this serial killer with this unique MMO whereas here you know
you’re dealing with the devil. You know you you’re dealing with Dexter and you know what his MO is
and you know what he does and uh yeah this was different. Uh but I really loved almost everything
they did. like I am they are pretty much neck and neck I would say overall just a good continuation.
I might prefer season one slightly for just taste reasons alone but I thought this was again as
again you could keep these contained as just one unit even if you wanted to. Uh they make sense
as two separate seasons but but as the story of Dexter if you were telling me that this is the
saga of Dexter I could believe that a version of this pretty much brings us to here. Yeah. And
we talked about it like when we did our season 1 uh review I I believe. But I remember too thinking
like at the time when they revealed that Rudy uh who we knew him at the time was the wow they
revealed the killer in season in episode 8. That’s so early. And then we got the the ultimate
twist of twists. I’m like oh now I see why they did it so early. I was like there were a lot of
shocking things that again really pushed. Yeah. That was like so I can totally get why season one
like just by a hair you would you would slightly give it a little bit of the edge. I I I totally
get that. And then also to to your nitpicking point like I was maybe if I watch it a second time
I I might be on board with you too as well. Like I was a little I don’t know how the length of time
it takes to get from Haiti back to Miami because I believe that’s where they are stationed uh where
the show takes place. Because I I believe he said I was tracking you Morgan like when you took
the boat or when you went to the cabin that’s or whatever when you moved the boat like I had the
the tracker on like Okay. So you had this mission you were doing in Haiti. So right when he Oh you
had like how you’re looking it up. So right right when you immediately that boat started tracking
I’m I’m I’m off. So Okay. Okay. So it’s only a few hours flight. Okay. Okay. Okay. So it’s it’s it’s
plausible. It’s now in hindsight I’m like okay it is plausible. Yeah. That’s more plausible than
it was before. But and I guess like his mission was complete to to see the the vial and all that
like to to track, right? Did they say that that cuz he was there to what was he there to do? To
analyze the blood, right? Yeah. And I think they just acknowledge like, well, why would he need to
do that if he was, you know, if if this was him, why would he need to do that, right? Why would he
take his trophies to be analyzed? Right. Right. Yes. I remember that. Leguarta and Lendy were
were talking about that. would make no sense for someone who would do that with their own trophies.
Yeah, totally. And then to continue with your question, Emma, you said, “Did you expect that Dos
would h would have to be killed to keep Dexter’s secret, or did you think there was a chance of him
being released?” I mean, again, John mentioned it during the reaction, and I was totally on board
with him. I didn’t I really didn’t think Doss was going to be killed, but you know to John’s point
of we are past the point of so many points of no returns rather I I just didn’t know what where
we were going to go cuz there’s just there’s just no way like you would have had to have gone in a
different story direction in terms of like you’re just going to have to have continue to chase after
Dexter and not know the truth or at least have a pile of evidence that points in Dexter’s direction
because if he’s got the evidence and he knows knows what Dexter is. What do you do there? You
can’t have Doss alive. As much as we’ve want him, and I’m sure many of the audience who adores and
loves Dos. So, but having said all that, I still didn’t think he was actually going to be killed.
I just I didn’t know and I didn’t think they were going to do that. So, it was a bold choice. I’ll
say that. Yeah. I I I think I thought that I it constantly put me in that place where you’re sort
of like working hard to try and figure out any way that this could end in them both making it out of
this room alive. Yeah. And uh it does seem that with again the way events transpire again there
were a couple moments in this season where I was like is this a dream? No, this is real. That whole
headbutt scene was another instance where I was like oh no I guess this is real. I guess we’re I
thought I guess this animosity has this this cold war just got hot, you know, like they uh Yeah, it
it certainly seems like and especially with 2020 hindsight like yeah, if it’s out in the open and
Dos is on to him for real that he would probably have to die. Um yeah, cuz to keep Dexter secret,
I mean, I just couldn’t imagine a way that they would ever come to any kind of understanding that
allows them both to coexist. That’s what I would have love. I mean, it would have been cool.
It would have been like a fan service. Yeah. From a fan again like I just don’t know like
ideologically speaking as I mentioned earlier I don’t know if they ever would have come to that
understanding but like you just point yeah like to your point though God dang I’m I want to live in
an alternate universe where they do come together and they work in tandem or it’s like hey I just
don’t want to know but just don’t tell me like anything any any crimes that we don’t solve as a
as a police unit. You know what I mean? Yeah. go take out the trash kind of thing. You know what I
mean? Oh god, that would be so much fun. But yeah, I get it. Like he’s like you say, he’s got
the code of jokes. He’s not going to allow him to operate. So no matter how similar it might
seem that they Yeah. Yeah. And I like their their debates a lot. I like that they took the time to
do that. And to your other part of the question, you know, do you are you surprised that Dexter
didn’t do it? Not especially actually because like you don’t want him to and I feel like if he
does that obviously goes in contra like you know I think it was smart of them to keep harping on
the idea that like this guy doesn’t pass the the code you know he’s not an eligible candidate to be
taken out to the trash. So, like I think that is an example of something where if Laya didn’t show
up and do what she did, I wonder what would have happened at that point because yeah, I feel like
Dexter can’t really kill him and end up where he does uh and be the Dexter that we know. So, it’s,
you know, that was a conscientious thing and and obviously like it’s it’s within the character of
Laya, so I’m not griping about it. It is one of those things where it’s like if this had been
any different, I don’t know where we would be right now and Dos would probably still be dead.
But but I was certainly big relieved that it was Laya instead if it had to be anybody because, you
know, that just makes things weirder. And two, then it’s two people who see him from two
very different perspectives clashing. Well, if Laya hadn’t killed him, then we I mean, they
already they told us what would happen after he had that dinner and the steak dinner with with
Deb. He was just going to continue with the frame of Do. So Toes would have spent his years inrison
in prison for a crime he did not commit. Yeah. Um which probably would have made Do even like more
obsessive to the point of like I’m going to get out of here and I’m going to nail Dexter at some
point. I think that’s also another interesting angle you could have taken. It also there’s a
possibility like animosity for like us the like as much as we love Dexter and we don’t want to see
him in prison cuz again we do like him taking out like the the watch take out the Yeah. take out the
trash, take out the evil people that he does take out. But to see him like put a but to see him put
an an innocent man in prison like that that’d be a tough pill to swallow. I’m not going to lie.
As much as we want him to have his freedom, of course. Mhm. That would be a very tough pill to
swallow, not going to lie. But it would have been a fascinating angle to take, not going to lie.
And also Do gets to live. So, while also screaming every day that Dexter is the Bay Harbor Butcher.
Well, he would he would know well enough that then he would have to like keep his head down. Right.
Right. You know, it would make some interesting good behavior. Yeah. Like he’s too smart to
just mean when he’s scream. I just mean like probably to like Luarterta who’s someone who’s
probably going to like confined at him and yeah, like someone like that to scream with. I don’t
think he’s going to yell it out in the prison every day. I I didn’t mean it like that, but that
could have made for fascinating drama though, too. Like going to these prison scenes uh back and
forth and like got to find some kind of way. Maybe he a he becomes the new Paul. I I almost just
uh said something I didn’t want to say to you, but I’ll I’ll save that for another time. But just
like finding a way of possibly like when if he can get out and then going after Dexter that could
have been I I wonder if the writers did consider possibly let’s let’s go with the frame job and
get him in there. Must have they must. Yeah, because we we love Eric so much and we love this
character, you know, so that that I’m sure that was a possibility for them. So, you know. Yeah.
I mean, it’s definitely one of those bold things that TV shows do to show you that they’re serious
sometimes, too, is like you take a character and you put them in an impossible situation and you
know, and somebody dies and the stakes are real and you’re like, “Oh [ __ ] this leaves a toll.
This took a toll.” Yeah, I think that’s what they did here. Yeah% I’m going to be mourning, but I
was also very exhilarated by the ride. And I mean, certainly makes you root for Laya to meet her end.
Oh, 100%. Yeah, because at that point you we just really I mean what she did to Angel, we’d wanted
her in prison. I wouldn’t say I wanted her dead. Like dead’s a very tall order, but once she did
that to Do and then to the children and Dexter, I’m like, “All right, she’s got to go.” Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. And then any predictions for anybody. Yeah, exactly. Any predictions for season
3 or any anybody or anything you would like to see more of? Love your guys’ reaction. Can’t
wait to see more. Thank you again, Emma. Again, I would love to see more of Angel. I really would.
I I think he’s such a fas he’s really to me I mean I think Yeah, he really is fun. He’s the most
lovable character. He really is like a whole attraction thing is really funny. I think his
aura and his tranquility I think it’s fun that they they do that in this season. Especially I
think like too it gives like because he’s got this aura about him and this law of attractions like
look with this foreoding foreshadowing that ended up happening to him later on. It’s like Jesus to
the guy who’s creates this positive energy around him and then this happens. It’s like terrible
like this guy needs some good stuff to happen now. And also he got stabbed in season one by
Biny. He needs he needs some good fortune. John, we need Angel to have a good season. I’m shipping
Angel and Deb. I’m just kidding. I’m just kidding. I’m just kidding. I’m just kidding. I love the
both of them. Yeah. John’s like John’s like, “No, I’m That was a joke. I’m I’m literally I’m
not chipping Angel. That was a joke.” But yeah, I’d love to see more of of Angel, I would say.
And again, I I think that prediction I made, I’m probably going to be wrong about that, but
just just events just starting to slowly catch on to Dexter and like a lot of the things he’s
saying in regards to work, like they’re not adding up. what is going on? Like I still love Dexter.
He’s my buddy, you know, but a lot of the stuff he’s saying like are not like don’t make sense.
So be fun to like just show that like as good as he is at his job, he’s good at also reading people
like I think that’d be interesting thing to see. But any nice to be surprised by a character.
Yeah. Any final things you’d like to see before we finish off this review? Nothing fresh. I
mean these last couple minutes. I mean, yeah, you know, it would be nice to I I love Angel.
I love Msuka. I love I love the whole ensemble, so it would be nice to see them all. Um, I doubt
we’d hear from Lundy or anything, but I’m glad he made it out. I I hope that there’s I guess I
predict that there’s going to be at least some kind of interesting guest star and probably a new
serial killer of some kind. Seems like regardless, even if Dexter is the serial killer at large for
season 2, every serial killer, every season will have serial killer at large, I would imagine. Um,
That makes total sense. I I kind of don’t know what to expect or predict now based off of this
because yeah, there there’s so much of an internal story feels like it has been sort of resolved or
at least drawn to a a a an a furthest possible extent. Uh, and so yeah, I wonder if again after
going so introspective for this season and and you know, again turning the microscope on your lead
character if we will, you know, somehow break away from that and go outward again because season one
like, you know, felt outward and then became very personal and then season two is super personal and
so now I wonder if we’re going to take the heat off of Dexter for a minute and introduce some new
element. Yeah, I I’d agree with that. probably new characters either for the main ensemble or against
you. It’s funny you mentioned that. My final thing I want to say here, do you think we’re going to
get some kind of a replacement for Dos on the on the squad? Cuz I for sure see that. Yeah, I could
for sure see some I would imagine if they bring in somebody to replace Dos on theart on the force, uh
it would be someone of a different disposition. I would have to imagine it’s not going to be like
the same vibe as Uh, good luck. Um, but I would imagine, yeah, some new interesting character is
on the horizon for season 3. Yeah. Um, we’ll have to see though. I’m just I’m I can’t wait. Like,
this show has been I want to see more I want to see more. I want to see more of the B-roll from
the opening credits. We got a bunch of that those extra shots making breakfast. Oh, yeah. And we
had that that one episode where he was making the Yeah, they used all that additional footage.
That was awesome. I want more of that beautiful intro breakfast footage. That was so cool. Well
gang, this review has the longest video. Yeah, probably longer than the reactions maybe. I
don’t know. Anyways, if you stuck with if you stuck with us this long, we appreciate and also to
our royal rejects who sent us all these incredible thoughtprovoking questions. Seriously, we love
you guys. It’s because of you that we’re able to do this. So, thank you so much for sticking
with us and asking these incredible questions. We love you guys. We cannot wait to do Dexter
season 3. They will be on the way very soon. So, be on the lookout for them. Oh, yeah. Gang,
thank you so much for this has been such a joy and continues. And uh thank you for listening
us speak at Nauseium. We appreciate it and uh for the lesson. I appreciate that as well. And
that’s why you’re the bang to my flash and uh all right and uh we’ll see
you guys later. Take care.

John Humphrey & Andrew Gordon (Cinepals) take you through the shocking final stretch of Dexter Season 2 — Episodes 9 “Resistance Is Futile,” 10 “There’s Something About Harry,” 11 “Left Turn Ahead,” and 12 “The British Invasion” — in one massive reaction, recap, commentary, analysis & full spoiler review! Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under, Safe) stars as Dexter Morgan, Miami Metro blood-spatter analyst by day and meticulous vigilante serial killer by night, who finds himself cornered when the FBI closes in on the Bay Harbor Butcher. Julie Benz (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) returns as Rita Bennett, while Erik King (Oz, National Treasure) delivers intensity as Sgt. James Doakes, whose relentless pursuit brings him face-to-face with Dexter’s darkest secrets. Jennifer Carpenter (Limitless, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) shines as Debra Morgan, balancing her career and personal life while navigating the fallout of Dexter’s dangerous entanglements. Across these four episodes we witness Doakes’ shocking imprisonment in Dexter’s remote Everglades cabin, revelations about Harry’s past that shake Dexter’s moral code, a tense escape and confrontation with drug smugglers, Lila’s (Jaime Murray, Hustle) escalating manipulation, and the explosive cabin fire that ends with Doakes dead and the FBI officially closing the case. The finale delivers a deadly Paris showdown, tying up loose ends in brutal fashion. With unforgettable moments like the mirror-shot storytelling, the emotional congressional-style hearing, Lila’s betrayal, and the cathartic end to her arc, this Season 2 climax cements Dexter as one of TV’s most addictive thrillers.
