【ルームツアー】コンクリートと木の家|異素材が響き合う暮らしの中の非日常|阿部勤|アルテック
This 33-year-old home stands on a steep site with striking elevation changes. It consists of a three-story main building and a single-story annex. We approach from the opposite side of the front facade. The entry door, set in concrete, sits at the second-floor level. At the top of the stairs… You can look down at the courtyard on the first floor. Just above the entrance is the LDK in the timber-framed annex. The layout is quite complex—thank you for bearing with us! The atmosphere shifts dramatically from the hard concrete… to the warmth of wood. A lush little garden spreads outside the window. Thick greenery shields the home, like a quiet oasis. The annex features an airy timber structure. Contrasting spaces coexist, separated only by glass. Brick tile and timber lend the kitchen a rustic strength. Looking down from the dining area toward the entry and hallway. Back again to the world of concrete. Looking back from the far end of the hallway. Through an opening in the wall, you can see the atelier below. Another opening offers a view of the courtyard. To the right is the wet area. The toilet is straight ahead; sink and bath are to the right. There’s a terrace for cooling down after bathing. We’ve descended the concrete stairs to the first floor. It feels like stepping into a different house. The exotic courtyard feels frozen in time. Opening the wooden folding doors, we enter the atelier. A spacious, exposed-concrete room opens up. It has direct access from the courtyard, and was even used as a café in the past. A dramatic two-story void with clerestory windows above. This side has a lower ceiling and a more intimate feel. Sculptures made in this atelier decorate the window ledge. Glass block sills allow daylight to reach the basement studio. Looking up, you’ll see the hallway we walked earlier. Let’s look down from that hallway once more. The basement is both a workspace and a music studio. It’s equipped for vintage audio and instruments, with soundproofing to match. Let’s now head up to the third floor. Only the top level of this wing is timber-framed. You can see the annex across the rooftop terrace. Even the railings and void covers are like art objects. The bedroom feels like a cozy attic space. A wide horizontal window frames lush greenery. Opening the window, we enjoy the trees and garden. Below, we can see the courtyard. Back in the dining room—time for lunch. We’re welcomed by Ponta, 6 years old. (^_^) A wonderful aroma of spices fills the air… It’s curry! Perfect with a view of the garden.
