Inside a Hospital: The Real Impact of COVID-19

[Music] um people in the public really thought that COVID was a hoax and oh it’s not a big deal um until you started having family members of your own that got sick and you know some of them made it out of the hospital uh some didn’t and um it was very real very traumatic experience for everybody um when a state of emergency is declared prepared Um we’re a union hospital and um so there’s lots of different um things that are put in place for the safety of our nurses Um the safety for patient care A lot of that stuff kind of um gets put on the back burner of what we would normally naturally do um in order to care for the patients in a state of emergency Uh so like our med surge nurses that would just normally take care of medical patients um had to be disseminated to our telemetry floors and some of our teley nurses that were trained to read monitors and trained to take care of those type patient populations were then kind of partnering up with some of the med surge nurses to kind of help work with them um on taking care of those patient populations Um so there was a lot of nervousness insecurity um coming from the nursing staff that got disseminated kind of into areas that they weren’t used Two
