【ハワイ】片道2万円の激安LCCに乗ってみたら、予想外すぎた…
Hey guys, it’s Yuuka! The day has finally come! So, rewind to three months ago—one of my viewers said, “ZIPAIR is doing a crazy sale tomorrow!” “You should totally make a video about it!” That’s what they commented. So I looked it up, and guess what… They had a super limited offer—flights to Hawaii for just ¥20,000 one way! I was like, “Yeah right…” Even I didn’t believe it at first. I thought as soon as I tried to book, it’d magically become like $700 or something. But turns out, the sale was totally legit! And I somehow managed to snag a seat! So this time, I’m flying ZIPAIR to check out this $125 Hawaii flight. I’m gonna investigate everything about it! Alrighty—let’s go! Hawaii, baby! ZIPAIR only flies internationally— and only out of Narita Airport. So today I’ve made my way to Narita. I took the Skyliner train here, and it was surprisingly not that far! That’s a win! Hope I can check in without any trouble… Since it’s ZIPAIR, maybe— do they have a Z counter? Is there even a “Z” counter? Let’s go find out. *Classic directionally-challenged move: refusing to look at maps* *…and obviously getting lost right after* There it is—Honolulu flight, 19:10 departure! Thank goodness it actually exists! Found the check-in counter! Turns out it was at C, not Z! Well, C works too! It’s cheap *and* close? Love that for me. Since there aren’t many people here, I’ll go ahead and get checked in real quick. Looks like we do self check-in at one of these machines. Ahh wait… too much personal info from here on… I made it through check-in and security! I once had my cordless hair iron confiscated here— so yeah, I have some trauma. I was super nervous about it… but this time, I made it through with all my stuff! Relief! ZIPAIR boards at Gate 25, so I’m heading that way now. When it comes to airports… Moving walkways just *walk* you, right? Wait—other way around? Gate 25 is finally coming into view! But I’m not heading straight there just yet— I think I’ll drop by a lounge first. Lounge spotted! This is what they call a “credit card lounge.” If you’ve got a credit card, you can totally get in here! Narita Airport Terminal 1 – NOA Lounge *Two portions? Nope, all for me.* I just got here and already… I went ahead and ordered a bunch of stuff. Starting with a beer, of course! Cheers! *No joke, it was so good I almost screamed* So yeah, this lounge— as long as you have the right credit card, you’re in! My mom actually recommended it to me the other day. She was like, “It’s super worth it, Yuuka! Get one!” So I went ahead and signed up. The annual fee’s around $65, but— you get to use the lounge three times a year for free, and that includes drinks and food— all you can eat and drink! Honestly, that’s a pretty sweet deal, right? But yeah, because it’s such a good deal… there’s a lot of people and it’s kinda lively. *But hey, better than awkward silence, right?* Mmm, this is so tasty~ ♪ Can’t believe it’s free! *Yes, I’m technically on a no-alcohol streak—but free beer doesn’t count.* The lounge has windows right in front of you, so the view is amazing! You can see the planes super close! That alone makes it pretty fun! ZIPAIR lets you bring a carry-on up to 7kg for free. But if you add the premium package, you can upgrade to 15kg! With LCCs, flights are cheap, but… they’ll charge you extra for just about everything. It’s basically a pay-as-you-go system. Like, seriously, everything costs extra. But hey, the cheap ticket prices kinda make up for it! *If you play it smart, you can totally fly LCCs on the cheap!* ZIPAIR is part of the JAL group, so most of the vehicles parked nearby are JAL ones too— which honestly makes me feel kinda safe! They’re loading up the luggage! Looks like catering stuff? They’re stacking it up like crazy. *Meanwhile, I’ve been loading up my own body with food.* Oh no… Even if it’s free… I really need to get going—it’s almost boarding time! This is *not* the time to be stuffing my face. Off to the boarding gate I go! *Sudden full-speed sprint begins* No time… must hurry… Zipppppp! Oh no, this is seriously bad… Wait, where even am I!? This is 100% the lounge’s fault. …Okay no, it’s my fault. (Correct.) Whew, I barely made it. Alright then—mentally preparing for this 7-hour flight! It’s been a chaotic start but… we’re finally boarding! My first time on ZIPAIR *and* first time to Hawaii! My heart is racing! Once I got on the plane, I realized it’s actually not that full. Today’s seat is 47A. I somehow lucked out with a window seat! Before I could even chill, the plane started heading toward the runway. I’m just glad I made it in time… Victory fist pump! *Don’t do it if you’re gonna look around nervously.* Look at that seat vacancy rate, though. I had plenty of breathing room—thank goodness. The plane gradually sped up… and my view started tilting sideways! I love takeoff—it makes me feel like I’m turning into a bird! Honestly, I wanna become a Narita-bound airplane too (?). We’ve officially taken off! Alright, Japan—see you soon! It’s about 7 and a half hours in the sky to Hawaii. Time to put my reviewer hat on and do my best! But wow—the view from the plane is just stunning. *This is my “Turbulence? I laugh in its face.” expression* Alrighty, let’s jump right in— and check out the seat features! Since ZIPAIR’s a budget airline, there’s no in-seat entertainment screens. But instead, there’s a tablet holder— so you can set up your phone or tablet right in front of you! That’s definitely a nice touch! If you press this button, you get this spotlight-style reading light. And there’s also a call button for the flight attendants. Below the tablet holder, there’s a tray table with two adjustable positions. The size is about the same as most other planes. You can order in-flight stuff by scanning a QR code! Perfect for us socially awkward folks. A little while after takeoff, a flight attendant gave me a ZIPAIR lucky bag! Inside was a super bold-patterned blanket— Definitely not one you’d use on another airline, lol. There was more inside the bag, like… a neck pillow with a built-in pump. And yep—it has the ZIPAIR logo on it too! I honestly had no clue how to use it, but figuring it out makes for great in-flight entertainment. So I’ll take my time and enjoy it. There’s still more inside the bag! These are… slippers, maybe? They look like slippers but I’m not totally sure— Yup. Slippers confirmed. They’re fuzzy and look super comfy to wear. Perfect for long-haul flights! And no amenity kit is complete without… good old earplugs. Seriously, earplugs make a huge difference. There was also a sleep mask inside. And it wasn’t some flimsy one— it was actually really well made! I could totally reuse this back home. Love that. That wraps up the amenity kit tour! *This is me giving my neck pillow mouth-to-mouth.* *Pretty sure half the plane was doing CPR on theirs too—so funny.* I finally managed to inflate my neck pillow! It was easier than I thought— only took about three minutes of my life. Yes, I am… Neck Pillow Woman. ZIPAIR’s ride is actually pretty nice. Way more comfortable than I expected! Alright, time for the recline test! Moment of truth—will I get shoved back upright? Ohh, looks like we’re good! The seat reclines way more than I thought it would. It’s hard to see ‘cause it’s dark, but the headrest can move up and down, so you can adjust it to whatever height you like! This height works for me— I think I’ll be able to sleep really well like this. Next up, let’s take a look at the in-flight shopping! First shocker: They offer *free* Wi-Fi onboard. Like… that’s literally revolutionary. Alcohol starts around 500 yen— they’ve got a good variety, like beer, wine, and chu-hi. For food, it’s mostly cup noodles like Shin Ramen and Donbei. Yup, this flight’s giving strong instant noodle energy. They also sell ZIPAIR merch, but… Let’s just say I was low on funds today. *Translation: I’m broke.* Oh—and this caught my eye! You can actually upgrade or change your seat onboard. Oof… Sadly, still broke. If you’ve got $430 to spare, you can enjoy a full-flat seat in style. But seat changes were surprisingly affordable— starting at just around $10. The in-flight entertainment also included some movies, and the selection was actually packed with hits! It ran smoothly and was easy to browse. Personally, I was all about the Mario movie. I plugged into the outlet under the seat and borrowed some precious juice. From my iPad, I could also pull up a flight map like this and keep it up the whole time. It’s been about an hour since takeoff—we’re currently right here. Still got six more hours to go… Let’s keep going strong—well, the plane will. I’ll just sit here. *Love me some poetic inversion* A little while later, the flight attendant brought out my meal and drink! I went with the spicy chicken rice. Cheers with Coke Zero! Still on my no-alcohol streak, soooo… I passed on the beer this time. *If it had been free, though? Game over.* Let’s eat! Now let’s see how this airplane meal actually tastes… *Yes, I’m totally showing it off on purpose* Mmm, honestly? It’s pretty good. I’m not actually calling anyone—I swear. Just throwing up a casual aloha pose… This flight left Narita at 7:10 PM, and it lands in Hawaii at 7 AM local time. There weren’t many flights that arrived this early, so that was already a huge plus for me. So yeah—it’s not just about the price. If you’re someone who wants to make the most of your time, this flight is seriously a great option. Tried out the in-flight Wi-Fi and… LINE and X worked totally fine! YouTube and TikTok were kinda tough though. But having unlimited free Wi-Fi in economy on an international flight? That’s pretty rare, honestly. I was super grateful for it. Thanks for the meal! The night’s still long, so… I’m gonna take a quick nap for now. Alright then, good night~ Good morning! …I think? The sky’s starting to brighten up. The view is so beautiful, I’m kinda emotional. I’m not gonna use it, but… Let’s check out what the bathroom looks like anyway. It looked pretty standard, just like other planes. No issues there at all! Here’s an awkward close-up “yay~!” The sink was nice and clean too, and honestly, I still don’t see why this flight is so cheap. *The mystery of ZIPAIR deepens…* It’s 1 AM in Japan time, and the distant sky is turning orange. Only on a plane can you get views like this. Checked the flight map— we’re getting super close to Hawaii! Looks like there’s about 1.5 hours left. Excited… but also… suuuper sleepy again… It’s so bright outside, I’ve totally lost track of time. Anyway—good morning, I guess? I was worried I wouldn’t be able to sleep but… I ended up totally knocked out, so I’m good! The current time is 1:09 AM. Just 1 hour and 20 minutes left till Hawaii! And yeah… now I’m getting nervous again! The cabin got suuuper cold, but I’ll be warming up in Hawaii soon— just gotta hang in there a little longer. Here’s the seat pitch I forgot to show yesterday! It’s surprisingly spacious for a low-cost carrier. Apparently it’s around 79 cm, which is totally comparable to other airlines. You get plenty of legroom! I gave in to temptation… and ordered a nice hot tea from the menu. But hey, $2 for a peaceful sky-high tea time? Not a bad deal if you ask me. That’s how I’m justifying it anyway. After a while, the plane started descending— looks like we’re getting ready to land! Time to clean up my tea, fast! We can finally see Oahu from the window! The lower the altitude, the higher my excitement level! The view you’re seeing right now is the Ko Olina area on the west side of Oahu. From here on out, please enjoy the sights of Hawaii with me! We’re now flying right above Pearl Harbor. And those mountains in the distance are the Waianae Range. We’ve just landed safely at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport! The current time is 7:30 AM, and the temperature is a comfy 77°F. Please keep your seatbelt fastened until the seatbelt sign above you has been turned off. Thank you for flying with ZIPAIR today. We truly appreciate it. The captain and all the crew look forward to welcoming you aboard again soon. Aloha~ Wait, people *actually* say “Aloha” here?! I’m shocked. Guess I’ll be using it a bunch now. …If I can. *Social anxiety says no, but I’ll try.* Hawaii!! My energy’s seriously spiking now! Flew ZIPAIR from Narita Airport and made it to Hawaii! The flight wasn’t crowded at all— but there were lots of families, so the cabin was lively. ZIPAIR is technically a budget airline, but the seat pitch was way roomier than most domestic LCCs, so it was really comfy! Also, the cabin crew was super sweet and helpful— very kind! And now… let’s talk about the total cost. Did I actually manage to do it for just ¥20,000? The answer is… The total was ¥37,000. About $240. Still pretty cheap though! But yeah—not quite ¥20,000. I added checked baggage, and also got the premium package with meals and amenities— that was about ¥10,000 (~$65), plus airport fees, taxes, and the hot tea I caved and bought— so yeah, it all added up to ¥37,000. But honestly—don’t you think Hawaii would cost way more? I definitely thought so. It used to feel so far away… but now, it feels a lot closer and more doable. It’s gone from a dream trip to a real possibility! So yeah, I’ll be staying in Hawaii for a few days— and maybe I’ll try becoming a Hawaii master. I’ve always wanted to come here, so… I’m beyond excited! I’ll be uploading more Hawaii videos soon, so stay tuned for those too! Hope you’re looking forward to them! Thanks so much for watching all the way to the end today! If you liked the video, please hit that subscribe button, leave a comment, and give it a thumbs up! Bye-bye! Hawaii~
