this artist creates the wildest glass sculptures if you can imagine it Miwaito has probably created it in glass miwa is a glass artist inspired by the cartoons toys and movies of her childhood along with Japanese heritage and everyday moments it takes an incredible amount of skill and technical ability to work with glass she captures the spirit of objects and animals like this tuna she created from the inside out building its skeleton organs scales and fins all visible through the colorful translucency of glass recently she made a squid and I find it mesmerizing to watch her pull shapes from the hot glass gradually building this beautiful organic creature by bending and splicing the molten material she’ll create everyday objects too like this dumpling a hot dog with tomato sauce or even a rice ball she recently made this tiny little ladybug and it really struck me how nimble and reactive you have to be sculpting glass in those moments when it’s hot and there’s only a short window to get it right i make videos celebrating the work of living artists get my free art newsletter on my profile
