[Music] Is COVID 19 back in India? Several states are seeing a rise in corona virus cases. As per the Union Health Ministry, India has 257 active COVID 19 cases. Currently, authorities have begun preparations to ensure the availability of hospital beds, oxygen and vaccines in case the situation worsens. A 21-year-old patient has died in Tani near Mumbai and a 84 year old man has passed away in Karnataka after testing positive. But in both the cases, the patients were suffering from co-obidities and COVID is not the sole cause of death. So do you need to worry? As of now, most of the cases are mild and require no hospitalization. India has identified two new COVID 19 variants, NB 1.8.1 and LF.7. The World Health Organization has classified both these variants under monitoring and not under variants of concern. But remember the dominant variant in India still remains JN.1 which accounts for 53% of the recent cases. And yes, even if this JN.1 is not a variant of concern but it is still a variant of interest. So what to do next? Firstly, don’t panic. Stay calm. Wear a mask in crowded places. Clean your hands regularly with a soap or sanitizer. Follow the same precautions that we did during the pandemic in the year 2020.
