COVID-19感染者数増加:アジアにおける急増の背景には何があるか? | 詳細
The recent deaths of two COVID 19 patients in Mumbai and a spike in cases in some regions of Southeast Asia have once again raised this pressing question if COVID 19 or corona virus is back in India. The Mumbai hospital which reported two deaths earlier has clarified that the deaths of patients were caused by co-orbidities and not linked to COVID 19 infection. Apart from the Mumbai hospital, Udesha 2 has confirmed that it has not reported any fresh corona virus cases in the state. As far as the situation in Mumbai is concerned, the Bhenna Mumbai Municipal Corporation recently stated that very few cases of the infection have recently been found. In a statement issued, the BMC said, “The health department of the BMC is constantly monitoring the spread of COVID 19. From January 2025 to April 2025, the number of COVID 19 patients has been found to be very low. But since the beginning of May, there have been some cases of COVID 19. However, the BMC administration is appealing to citizens not to panic in this regard.” The BMC also said it has set aside dedicated beds and rooms of COVID 19 patients in Mumbai’s municipal hospitals in case there is an uptick in cases. BMC also said that the capacity will be scaled up immediately if [Music] needed. But there are worrying reports coming from multiple Southeast Asian countries. In Hong Kong, the virus activity is set to be quite high and the testing has also reached its highest in a year. By the first three days of May this year, Hong Kong reported 31 severe cases. In China, the CO 19 positivity rate has increased from 7.5% to 16.2% from March 31st to May 4th. The number of cases where hospitalization was recommended have also increased. In Singapore 2, hospitalizations have increased with a surge in COVID 19 cases. According to reports, the cases have jumped 28% to 14,200. The number was 11,100 cases in the previous week. In Thailand, in past 2 weeks, the cases have jumped to double from 16,000 to over 33,000 in the week ending May 17th. Most cases have been reported in Bangkok, Chonbururi, Brangong, and Nontaburi. With the rise in cases, Thailand has urged its citizens to get booster [Music] vaccinations. GN1 variant of COVID 19 and BA 2.86 subvariant of omicron are being blamed for the recent rise in COVID 19 cases. According to the World Health Organization, it has categorized it as a variant of interest but not a concern. At present, LF7 and B1.8, both descendants of the JN1 variant, are the main variants of CO 19 causing virus circulating in Singapore. The variants together account for twothirds of the locally sequenced. The Hong Kong authorities said in a statement on May 15th that the XDV strain of the CO 19 virus has been circulating locally since late March this year. In India, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare convened a review meeting on Monday with experts from National Center for Disease Control, Emergency Medical Relief Division, Disaster Management Cell and Indian Council of Medical Research and Central Government Hospitals to take a stock of the situation.
