Miwa Harimoto vs Zheng Jian ITTF World Championships Doha 2025 Review by Table Tennis Global
Welcome to another episode here at Table Tennis Global. We are going to look at the new match of Miwa Harimoto as she fights the Singaporean great Zang Jian. This is their second face off in Doha and in their career. Two years ago during the WTT contender Doha 2022, Young Miwa faced Jung Jian. She was able to pull the win 3 to2. This time Jung Jian became stronger. Can Miwa pull this off against the Singaporean champion. Jungjian was able to defeat Adriana Diaz in the earlier rounds while Miwa was able to defeat the North Korean star Kim Kumyong. Well, who are you rooting for? This is round 16 of ITTF World Table Tennis Championships. Whoever wins this match will advance to the quarterfinals. Hey, what? A good counter by Jung Jen attacking that backhand top spin of Miwa. Miwa is rocking her backhand flicks and she is in control of this game. I am not so familiar with the gameplay of Jung Jian but she has a nice timing on counters. Jungen has this nice ball placement. She’s not an aggressive attacker. rather she plays with counters and plays with open angles. Comparing their attacking power, Miwa has more attacking power compared to Jangjian. The slash and the speed of the ball of Miwa is way too much for Jungen. Still, the defense and ball placement of Jungen is taking toll against the young Miwa. Hey, that’s cool. Jungen is showing her defense masterclass. Have you seen her ball placements and counter? I believe that is the strength of Jung Jian. Overall, I think she needs to put more power and play spin and go all out if she wants to win this against Miwa. Miwa so far is just in control despite losing some points. My prediction right now is that this will be an easy win for Miwa to secure her seat in the quarterfinals. Still, the ball is circle and anything can happen. Jung Jian might just be hiding her secret weapon. As a receiver, always go to a position where you can reach the ball. What an ending point there by Miwa abusing the open angle that Jung Jen cannot reach. In the men’s division, her stance is what most pro players do. But for you to be able to do that, your legs must be fast enough light the most prop players do. So far, Jang Jen has slow legs. But she has good counters. No offense to the fans of Jung Jen out there. She is good, that is for sure. But the skill gap of these two players is just way too far. An attack of Miwa simply ends the point. Miwa has faced stronger opponents in the earlier round, but this is just an easy win for her and she is not even going all out. Jang Jen needs lots of training to reach Miwa’s level. Anyway, for comparison purposes, Miwa Harimoto is ranked as the world’s number six, while Jung Jen is world’s number 71. Hey, nice. Jang Jian’s power is like the same power as the warm-up. I hope she can put more power in her attacks. If that happens and she has consistent attacks, she could be deadly. If she adds more spin variations and serve style variations, she might be better and have more chances against top players. What? Miwa is just at another level in all aspects. She will face a tough opponent tomorrow as she will face Wang Manu. Wang Manu was able to defeat Bernardet Socks earlier and she was able to defeat the German wall Ying Han yesterday. Well, thanks for watching and see you next episode. Go. Hey.
