日本の特撮を見て育ったというアメリカ人映画監督のエリック・マキーバーが、自身の故郷であるオクラホマ州を舞台に日本特撮へのオマージュ満載で制作したファンタジー映画『Iké Boys イケボーイズ』が6月14日(金)よりTOHOシネマズ新宿ほか全国公開となる。
アメリカ製作・舞台の作品ながら、俳優の釈由美子、岩松了がそれぞれ物語上重要なキーパーソンとして登場。さらに日本の特撮界から、金子修介監督がキャストとして出演するほか、樋口真嗣監督が劇中アニメのナレーションを担当している本作。
この度、4分強に渡る本作の冒頭映像が公開となった。
今回解禁となった冒頭映像のオープニングで描かれるのは、1969年の東京。
映画会社の重役会議で新作のプレゼンを行っているのは、岩松了演じる映画監督のオガタ・ダイスケ。プレゼンを聞いているプロデューサー陣の中には、キャストとして出演する映画監督の金子修介の姿も。
人類が存亡の危機を迎える世紀末を描くアニメ映画「行け！虹の世紀末大決戦」を制作するオガタ監督。映画は大コケし、フィルムが保管されていた倉庫は謎の白装束の軍団により放火される。しかし奇跡的に残ったフィルムはVHSやDVDへと姿を変え生き残り、1999年にアメリカ・オクラホマ州に住むオタク高校生ショーンのもとへ。ショーンと、オタク仲間の同級生ヴィックが登場するシーンまで今回の冒頭映像には収められている。同シーンには、1999年に公開された金子修介監督の「ガメラ3」についてヴィックが話す場面もあり、本作の日本文化へのオマージュが垣間見えるものとなっている。
