怪談新耳袋 – in English “Tales of Terror”, “Tales of Terror from Tokyo”, or “Tales of Terror from Tokyo and All Over Japan” – was a Japanese horror anthology TV-series created in 2003. It was a collaborative effort of many different directors, most notably Takashi Shimizu and Norio Tsuruta.

“Video” is the 12th segment of the series’ first volume. It was directed by Hirokatsu Kihara (a former member of Studio Ghibli’s production team and author of horror books) and stars the sisters Asumi and Hitomi Miwa, who acted alongside each other in cult classics like “Ju-On: The Curse” or Hideaki Anno’s “Love & Pop”, as well as in two adaptations of Junji Ito stories: “Uzumaki” and “Love Ghost”.
A nice little touch here is that they essentially play themselves, as indicated by the door sign and the video tape being Hitomi’s “new film.”
